Wasn't Korra Season 1 like, one of the highest rated/watched shows on cable TV?

Like, up there with Game of Thrones?

Fuck you Nick.

If this was true then why aren't there more people trying to make good, more serious action oriented cartoons?! Of course making a comedic cartoon is the safer route, but if that is actually the case, then I'd think there'd be slightly more people trying to do action cartoons... Because other than Korra, right now they're like none T_T. Seriously, that would mean that Korra was above the vast majority of comedic cartoons at one point as far as ratings go, so why the heck are people so afraid to make anything but that?

bless up on the last season so soon.

but with nick getting rid of this as soon as they can is it safe to say this is the last we'll ever see of the avatar universe? :(

Korra looks great with her hair down. <3

I'm just glad they didn't chop it all off. Seems to be a thing lately, want CHANGE cut the hair really short. :P Okay, I've been watching too much anime.

Just watched Bitter Work, that bit at the end when Zuko is yelling at the sky 0_0

Chills.

Next season is so fast I'm having to rush through this rewatch.

I looked it up. Season 1 premier of Korra had 4.5 million viewers. Most watched animated show and on Nick. Season 1 stayed consistent, I remember it got about 3+ million per episode I wanna say.

Game of Thrones S1 - 2-3 milion per episode. usually hovered around 2.

With Season 2 Korra dropped to 2.5 million I believe.

With Season 3 it dropped to 1.5 million.

Sequel to one of the most critically acclaimed and well loved animated series of all time, and they can't even put out a decent schedule.

On the bright side, we got 4 seasons and a video game (New LoK game coming out, looks good). Look at shows like Young Justice, Tower Prep (not animated but it was great), etc.

Cartoons make more money off of merchandising. Comedic shows with younger audiences are more likely to do this. Grown adults generally aren't going to buy action figures or dolls.

So confirmation that they'll be showing off a new episode at NY Comic Con but as the panel is on Thursday the wait for the episode won't be that long anyway. Well as long as Nick sticks to the new episodes every Friday schedule they are doing.

Please join Executive Producer and Creator team Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino (Avatar: The Last Airbender) as they provide a tantalizing glimpse behind the curtain of this ground-breaking animated series. Special Guests include Voice Actors Janet Varney (Korra), David Faustino (Mako) and P.J. Byrne (Bolin). Includes an exclusive screening of a never-before-seen episode from Korra's final season. Moderated by Megan Casey, Vice President, Current Series, Nickelodeon Animation.

It would certainly be interesting to see how Korra adapts to using the wheelchair whilst injured as Air Temple Island doesn't exactly look wheelchair friendly.
But i'm giving it three episodes tops before she's back and up again on her feet.

Got to say the new hairstyle looks great as Korra for me always looks the best with her hair let down.

Some fantastic physical comedy could be done here. The script writes itself lol

1.5 million is not even that terrible for an animated cable television show, isn't it? Or is Korra just extraordinarily expensive because of Studio Mir?

Yeah, especially as avatar she should have plenty of tools to move herself without actually using her legs. Just imagine her permanently levitating on a big rock.
I think we would've seen an earthbender do that already if it was possible, it seems like such an obvious application of earthbender yet no one has ever done it.(same goes for icebending)

Actually I think Aang very briefly levitated on a rock during the beginning of the Ozai fight.

Anyone here need a Smash Demo code? I have one more left. I gave 2 of them away only to people that posted in the first 5 pages (and who were overlooked). No one else took me up for the last one. Guess if I'm going to unload it, would be nice to give it to a Korra GAF person. Just PM me, and I'll give it to the first person to PM (I'll edit my post out when it's been taken).

EDIT: Gave it to DedValve. Congarts. :D

Your the best Azula, and I'm saying that because you are a genuinely awesome person and not at all because you can incinerate me with blue fire in a heartbeat. Honest!

ok maybe a little

Smash and Korra on the same day. Oh god.

I hope the series continues on. My friend and I were discussing how much potential this series have. Especially with the powers of each elements. Although season two was a rough patch, season three definitely did better. There is still much they can fix, such as the pacing of each episode and the interaction. Such an interesting universe has to live on.

Plus Korra's getting a new hairstyle.

It's an amazing universe. There's such a rich history to explore.

While a series set before Aang would be great, I was thinking about how the avatar after Korra would be essentially living in the equivalent of our 21st century. Earthbending avatar should go to outer space and bend asteroids. hell ye

It would be really cool if the Earth Nation doesn't get their shit together and keeps deteriorating over time, then the next Earth King/Queen tries to weaponize the Avatar.

Please Nick, do this series justice, let it grow. Also release the damn artbooks and OSTs so I can buy them already!

TV ratings suffered. But the Avatar producers also said Nick was very happy that their web presence was so pretty much higher than any previous TV measurement they had before.

Since we have been arguing that the internet is the new TV with the rise of cordcutting so we have to hope Nick can translate the shift onto the web into advertising revenue.

*fingers crossed*

Makes sense. Kids nowadays spend way more time on Youtube watching pewdiepie, seananners, and all those minecraft people anyway. Makes sense they'd put a 20 minute tv show online as well. I actually have to give kudos to nick for trying it at least.

So what you're saying is

Legend of Korra Book 4 is Nick's Community's Season 6 is Yahoo's Netflix's Arrested Development Season 4?

If Nick was smart, they'd make it available Thursdays on Amazon for $1.99 an episode for the folks who 'need it now', then make it available Friday for free on their website. It would be a good way to get the show to earn some revenue from the hardcore fans.

I think there may be too much piracy with that method. People will just download it and then they lose ad revenue..

..........................did asami cut korras hair

lmao

It seems as if there will be many hairstyle changes this season.

So maybe.

I can't believe Nick is just unceremoniously dumping the final season of Korra only two months after Book 3 wrapped. After the way Nick handled book 2 and 3, I really shouldn't be surprised or upset, but I'm really not ready for Korra to be over, not this quickly. But I'm also super excited to see more (short hair!) Korra. Such mixed emotions fill me at this time.

I just hope I'm able to keep up with Korragaf for this final season. That pesky "real life" thing got in the way, and I was unable to keep up with the Book 3 conversation (here and elsewhere). I really missed coming to this thread and reading everyones reactions week to week.

Ah yes, the old exploiting the hardcore fans. Fortunately they know better.

I guess I didn't pay enough attention, but is Korra's hair cut shorter? I just assumed it was the same length, just worn down. The left side looked like it was short, but I just thought that was the angle (and she had more hair behind her back on that side.

Or it is still long, but definitely cut a little shorter?

EDIT: Damn, yeah it's definitely a full on cut. Because the shape of her hair is drastically different. Didn't even realize that at first lol. Korrasami confirmed.

Actually just got one :)
Thanks anyway Azula

Thanks for letting me know, I was actively searching for one even this morning for you. Was kind of stressing out. So happy to hear you got one. :D I'll make sure to hook you up with a $10 PSN or E-Shop code in October. I do giveaways on here for free, but I'll get an extra one to hook ya up.

Asami needs a pixie cut to go with Korras new swag.

I am also interested to see how the second half of book 3 did being Nick.com exclusive.

Well fact is, that Earthbenders can levitate rocks. Maybe its a matter of strengh, holding up a rock plus the own weight sitting on it over a long time, could be stressing.
Korra has a lot of raw strength and it would be cool. She's been using the avatar state for racing, she might as well use it to move.
