How would multiple islands work with Epona?

Nintendo has been giving us a lot of options for controls. I bet there will be an option for motion control and pro controller support.

I am hoping for this as well. Personally not a fan of gyro controls; would not want to be waving the gamepad around for extended play sessions.

Im pumped at the scale, and the idea of real adventure and exploration instead of everything being perfectly laid out right in front of you.

Yeah it looks a little barren here and there, but that will make actually finding and discoverying things that much more special. And secrets even more challenging to find. I just hope they do actually keep it challenging while also making it accessible, but not needlessly so.
The horseback controls looks great, it makes sense, as real horses have their own brains and such.

Also its an early demo, so they have good amount of tine to add things and they likely left things out on purpose, seems they just wanted to focus on scale and horseback.

Has someone annotated the map already? Haven't read the thread yet. That'll be my Sunday activity.

How's this?

I wonder if we will be able to go to the flat area south of the snowpeak mt. It might be a huge plain? But its bounded to have limits...

That's the same exact voice actor from SS for Link.

There's no music until you get into a fight.

Link is still right handed but the bow looks more important than the sword...which makes sense since everything is so wide and open.

There's an ingame clock on the gamepad. It says 19:00 or 7:00pm for sundown. Might indicate that time is important and certain scenarios are active at certain times. MM or OoT influence?

So far we've seen goats, horses, birds and farmers on the overworld, as well as bokoblin looking monsters and a giant robot crab boss.

Looks like they're taking things they couldn't do in OoT/TP and applying it to this world.

Magic returns...thank god. Stamina might be gone since it would be a nuisance in a more open environment.

Not sure what the point of the cloak is. I think this is his new outfit for the entire game though. I bet the signature green will show up at the very end or as a secret bonus. Only thing I can assume is that he hides his identity with the cloak. Maybe something or someone is after him?

I'm going to assume the overworld is similar to TWW where there is a puzzle and secret along with enemy fortresses and loot spots all over the map. It's fun, but I hope the incentive is high enough for me to want to explore.

Disappointed that the map is just given to you. It'd be more interesting to see it clouded for the player to unveil.

Beacons from SS return and the ability to glide around returns from TWW. Horseback fighting returns from TP.

...there better be towns.

If the map is topological, than shouldn't the whiter area in the north left be Snowpeak? I mean that'd place it in the same area as it was in TP.

While I hope that it's magic, it could esailiy be tied to the slow down thing. Also, I really hope the tunic is in the game, I like the cloak, but I really like the tunic.

WWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!??????

Really? Kind of disappointed if true. I like music while traveling around.
Yeah, it's probably just the demo.

Or maybe there's only music when you're at a place of interest. Like a "you're getting warmer" kind of thing. :9

Edit: in TWW there are islands with no music. It kind of helps build mystery...like you're at a place you weren't suppose to be at.

For God's sake, the game's in alpha and a year away. The music's not there yet.

Dont lie. Everything we saw today was the final game and thats all there is.
No music, no Zelda, no dungeons, no flowers, non control over Epona.
Not even an intro screen. Just a boring empty landscape simulation.
So disappointing.

I'm intrigued just a little. I'd like to see some more actual gameplay though. Is that the correct pronunciation of Epona?
It aligns with Japanese phonetics, but I think most English speakers elongate the E. Eee-pona. I like the Japanese version better, myself. Doesn't remind me of "e-mail" so much, haha.

Great, now you've just reminded me of that scene from Never Ending Story and now I feel depressed :(

Nooooo Artax!! :(

Curiously, while reading The Never Ending Story book back in my childhood, I kept thinking of Atreyu as Link and Artax as Epona, and the places they visited and characters they met seemed to fit perfectly in a Zelda game.

I often found myself playing zelda themes in my head that suited the locations narrated in the book... Being the swamp theme from Majora's Mask what I was "playing" when Artax and Atreyu enter inside that damned bog...

If the first step towards a perfect Zelda is making it open world, I think the second step would be creating a world as magical and full of strange iconic characters as the world depicted by Ende.

Ah the good times...

For me a big part of my enjoyment of RDR was riding through the beautiful landscape. My wife and I both wondered why Rockstar managed to out-Zelda Nintendo when Nintendo laid the groundwork for open world games with the original Zelda.

Rockstar learned how to make Grand Theft Auto when NIntendo decided to cancel game after game they attempted to create on the N64
