LEGO GAF |OT2|: Building Dreams. Demolishing Wallets

Only Weathertop, Shelob, and Helm's Deep are going away soon. Gandalf Arrives going away on the TRU list is the only thing that doesn't line up with what I was expecting. I missed that on the first look through the list.

All the superheros Ultrabuilds are retired. The planets are on a 3/4 month cycle like the CMFs and Friends pet polybags.

Curious - where are you getting these data-points?

I have the Haunted House coming, but I saw a place today that I could get the Vampyre Castle for 65.00 NISB. Is it worthwhile to have both?

Oh, and curse you Lego-GAF. My Lego order also has a Death Star and a Pet Store. I love these little bricks so much!

I just bought Vampyre Castle the other day because of how much everyone raves about it. I wont be building it until October, but I say get it. Just finish off the Monster Fighter line. If anything, you will have lots of bricks for MOCs.

They are completely different building experiences, so I would say yes, you should have both.

Not sure if anyone else has seen them, but I saw a few of the Lone Ranger sets at Fred Meyer today. The Train, teepee, Calvary builder and another one (a bank heist?). No wagon though, which is the one I'm breaking down and getting.

Here's my series 10 collection so far. I'm hoping to still track down Chicken Suit Man before 9 disappears. So far my favorite is the Bumble Bee. And I'd really like to get the Paintball Guy. Also, I'm kinda new to this, where can I sell/trade my doubles?

Right here! Give you a skydiver for the colonial soldier. That is if you are in the US.

I am. I'm in Ohio. And i'd love to!

Edit: for anyone feeling the bags. The Medusa is easy to find cuz she's the bulkiest. I have a hard time feeling them out when I went. But she was easily spotted.

Send me a PM with your address.

And the Roman soldier and Mohawk Indian are easy to confuse when feeling for them because of the headpiece/mohawk being similar. But you can feel for the soldier's helmet.

Edit: when are the next wave of Friends and Galaxy Squad sets due? Plotting my summer buying. At least until Orthanc ruins all plans.

Weathertop, An Unexpected Gathering, TMNT Turtle Lair, TMNT Shellraiser.

Of the four, which would you get?

I understand that Weathertop is going OOP soon.

I'm a huge fan of both and I'm leaning towards getting one of the TMNT sets as it seems easier to get all the Turtles fairly easily in like 4 sets.

I have Shelob Attacks and Gandalf Arrives, but would still need to get a bunch of other sets to finish off the Fellowship, or all the Dwarves.

If only LEGO didn't push through sets so quickly. :( And I had more disposable income.

Picked up all the Series 10 figures at TRU today. An hour well spent! It pays to be a Bag Whisperer.

It's a shame we'll never find a Mr. Gold, forever leaving our collections at 99% complete. Couldn't they have made him one per case? I expected a casual morning stakeout, not an eBay-driven manhunt!

Still without luck
Weathertop, An Unexpected Gathering, TMNT Turtle Lair, TMNT Shellraiser.

Do not get the Shellraiser. It's very poorly designed and falls apart far too easily. And it sucks when it's sitting still too. I guess there were alt instructions for something else it could make on fbtb, but not enough. Bricklink the figs if you need them.

That's all I can say regarding any of them I've built, but unexpected gathering is fantastic when done.

I picked up a couple fire fighter sets. The Fire Truck set is a great value at $20. It's a very solid build. It has play features with the telescoping ladder and a rope that's suppose to be a fire hose.

I can't really recommend the Fire Emergency set though. It's over priced at $40 for 300 pieces. The base of it's fire truck is similar to the $20 model. The building is alright with its boarded up windows. You can push on the windows to pop off the boards. It also has a knob on the side where you can turn the flame 180 degrees.

Hitting a crisis point in my storage. Still have plenty of space for basic bricks, but the more specialist ones are breaking my system. Next big set I break down will need me to change how I'm storing - eg tower bridge has too many cheese to let me keep one small box for cheese, plus it has too many of one colour so I'd like two boxes for one piece.

If you have Gandalf Arrives, you NEED AUG. Also, dat Bofur. And Balin.

I bought Boromir and Theoden on Bricklink. Expensive, yes, but I don't need a ton of semi-random bricks.

Edit:

(disclaimer: tree not as awesome in the original set)

nice stand there for UG... it almost looks like a sort of river house though with water floating beneath it :p

Theoden on BrickLink eh? I have seen him for as low as 10 bucks or something which is acceptable BUT, where to integrate him, place him if not in a Helm's Deep scenario? hmm unless i'd only grab him to integrate into my minifig collection that is...

I built it to prop the house up behind my character display stand. I'm gonna tear down my unwanted Hobbit sets and build a proper path instead.

After replacing some Ikea stuff, I have a better way to display my Lego. Bottom shelf is going to be a few dioramas for my customs. Middle shelf is the Middle-earth stuff and unfinished customs. I'm thinking of tearing down the Clipper and making a ship model type display stand for the Barracuda.

Oh, it gets even better.

That stuff is really, really cool, but it's such a tease. That amount of Lego would cost ridiculous sums of money, not to mention the skill building it. Just not gonna happen.

More concerned about the amount of TIME that goes into a project like this... you probably need to get rid of ALL your other hobbies and activities or else it's gonna take you 10+ years to finish something of that scale :(

on a sidenote:

just built the new Planet series 4 Snowspeeder & Hoth, pretty neat imo:

(by the way, that is a printed piece in the front there not a sticker!)
Stupid white dust particles on the name plate that you can't see until you took the pics, errr i mean that's snow of course!

Love it!
Is it just me or are these coming out fairly quickly. I didn't think we would be on series 4 already. I still don't have my series 3 ones assembled yet!

Is that how it's supposed to be built? That gap between the speeder and its wings looks quite large to be honest. Official LEGO pics seem to put the wings closer to the cockpit?

yeah you're right, i just noticed that indeed i have to put the white winged part one stud further inwards ;P the gap is still the same on the lower side but it LOOKS closer now since the upper part is further in :)

maybe i'll take an updated pic later on...

You are in reverse order than me. I have HH left to get, but ordered Crazy Scientist last week as my last Monster Fighter set. Its an awesome theme and once you get a couple you cant stop. Vampyres Castle was an awesome build that surprised me. Its under a 1000 pieces but felt like i was putting together a bigger set and the end castle is plenty huge especially if you open it up. Plus you get an awesome car with unique pieces. I have loved the mini figs in every set as well and plan on having one mean Halloween scene.

I was about to say it still had dust...but then I found out it was my monitor.

I want that Snowspeeder though!

Well there are still SOME particles left but it seems practically impossbile to get rid of em all ;)

Yeah it really is my favorite of all the Planet series so far... still gotta get the Frigate and the B-Wing though but i can't see em topping the snowspeeder!

Where did you get? I was in Target yesterday hoping Wave 4 was out, but they only had Wave 3 still. I love these planets. I guess I could check the local Lego store.
