LEGO GAF |OT2|: Building Dreams. Demolishing Wallets

Compared to the Dutch lego site the Sopwith Camel is currently 20 euros cheaper on the French site. Is there a way to order it from the French site and send it to The Netherlands? It doesn't let me change the country.

The Simpsons' to get a Lego series

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Want to build a new home for Homer or try out a new hairstyle for Marge?

Danish toy company Lego on Monday confirmed it will launch a special series themed on "The Simpsons" family globally in 2014.

Lego spokesman Roar Rude Trangbaek wouldn't give any details about what characters would be included, but said the company hopes the series will "appeal to fans of 'The Simpsons' family."

Lego, a privately held Danish company, has seen its sales soar in recent years after it started making series based on popular movies such as "Star Wars" and "Ninjago."

"The Simpsons" has been on the air for 22 years, becoming the longest-running American sitcom, the longest-running American animated program and a cultural phenomenon with colleges devoting courses to studying it.

That is an especially large question-mark for next year.

LEGO is going to release 18 LEGO Movie sets, some of which feature themes from their past (Western, Space, Pirate, Castle, etc). I don't see TLG putting other similar sets out on the shelves to compete with their much-hyped moneymaker.

I would like to see the return of LEGO Adventurers though.

So any idea on if they will all be available at the start of the year, or will they be splitting those up as say, 8-10 sets at beginning of year, with the rest to follow in the summer wave? Because if all at once, that is going to be one huge wave of sets hitting all at once and will take up a lot of shelf space for stores to try to stock it all, in addition to everything else new. You gotta wonder if they'll go with one or two fewer themes next year, just so the biggest focus can be on the LEGO Movie sets.

Welp, next year just got a bit more expensive for me! Can't wait to see what sets they do for this and how they handle the look of the minifigs. I wonder if this will be a one year theme and then done or, if successful, something that will continue for several years.

Edit: Never mind, they word it as "special series", so I can only assume that means a one and done type theme, like with Monster Fighters, etc.

So perhaps no other special theme to replace Monster Fighters and Galaxy Squad.

2014

*Jan-Mar wave:
The LEGO Movie sets 1-9
TLMCMF set Series 1 or a 1-off
New Ninjago sets
The Siiiimpsooons sets wave 1 or all at once.
RotS Star Wars sets
New City and Friends sets

*Apr-Jun
CMF series 12
Chima Wave 3
Creator sets
LotR wave 3

Of course new 10xxx series sets sprinkled here and there.

my god... my wallet... poor thing...

What kind of storage do y'all use for your Lego? I've sorted mine into colours and pieces and I want some kind of 'thing' to keep them in so I can find the part I need without much looking. I was thinking some kind of unit with lots of plastic drawers, like for screws, but all the ones I've seen have been too small.

Storage photo bomb. I swear I posted before, but can't find that post.
System still in progress as space and time are an issue.

- Drawers for common parts used for easy access. Quicker than having to open and close boxes which also requires stacking/unstacking.
- Plastic bags if not enough to fill a drawer.
- Bulk items in very inexpensive sterilite "shoebox" containers. Separated by plastic bags.
- Shadowbox frame is best way IMO to display minifigs, but I wanted easy access so went with a fairly inexpensive display case for CMFs. I stopped doing this for space as I didn't realize CMFs would go past 8 series.

Don't give up hope! "Special series" could mean anything. I'm sure it will depend on the sales if they continue series just like many of the others which life is sometimes cut short. Will wait for bigger official press release. Abu Kwik-E-Mart please. Mr. Flanders please. Simpsons CMF series please! Olympics and The LEGO Movie CMF's have set a precedence.

With Simpsons release and The LEGO Movie, I think LEGO will not be releasing many non-evergreen themes in 2014 (i.e. Galaxy Squad, Monster Fighters, etc) as 2014 looks pretty darn crowded.

Don't know if this applies to all stores.

Was at my local store (Liverpool) this morning, and noticed they had several Hobbit games on sale for £12.50. Perfect condition, must just be for clearance.

Well, I hope you're right, and that the series continues past just a one time release of 6-8 sets and that's it. They have plenty of material to work with, especially from a minifig stand point. I guess it depends on how long they have the license for and, as you said, depending on well sales are. Will be curious as to what the big $100+ set of the line will be, assuming there is one. The Simpson house? The school? Kwik-E-Mark? Krusty's studio? Power plant? Lots of possibilities. Odds of a Moe's Tavern? Zero or is there a shot in hell?

I'm thinking more along the lines "will be a great resource to get the Simpsons in LEGO" :p

Well, yeah. LOL. I was meaning for MOC parts.

I am more curious about the mini figs. Will they be unique molds like Friends mini dolls? Will the heads be custom shapes like many other sets, or will the eyes and hair be achieved with a piece that goes on top of a regular mini figure head?

i hope that

Sooooo I got Jek-14's Stealth Starfighter...I think it's a decent build, the minifigures are really awesome...love the colors on the ship but I'm not THAT in love with the ship itself, I like ships with swooshability but the gun on the top tends to roll around, which is not conducive to proper swooshability and it doesn't exactly sit properly on the ground, even with the landing gear. But these minifigures it came with were awesome, especially Jek-14 and his Force charged arm.

Still without luck
ghostmind or anyone else still trying to get a Delorean, check your Lego stores today. We got 6 in and werent expecting them.

Oh for the love of... I just spent ages trying to find a suitable seller that had http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=87087 in reddish brown. Finally, I look up where the hell I was going to use that thing in my model. Inside, completely hidden.

In my UCS millenium falcon I switched multiple parts for cheaper/more readily available colours. as it is all just a mixture of grey it was easily done ;)

speaking of which, recently placed to large orders in the US (to my flatmates US address :D)

really happy with the average of 0.11€ ppb

I fear that the last 771 pieces will however now be the most expensive, because I will have to spread them over more orders with more postage, as the amount of lots one store has is significantly reduced.

My brother was cleaning out his house and found something rather... odd: Boxes of Harry Potter minifigs from 2002:

BQ6_18cCIAAd28G.jpg

Brickipedia says it's a Hong Kong-only promotional set:

http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/HPG02_Harry_Potter_Gallery_2

Bunch of oddities here...

- Each box comes with 4 minifigs, and it's not randomised -- it's a specific set of four, and it tells you which ones you've got on the outside of the box.
- The box shows a total of 17 minifies and says "Collect them all"... but there's only 3 boxes with 4 minifigs each, which means there's 5 left out. Better yet, one of the five missing minifigs is Hermione!
- For some reason I can't quite figure out, Crabbe has Harry Potter's face printed on to the back of his head. He's the only one of the four to have two faces. I'm not sure why. Harry's face is distinctive and requires his hair (which none of the other minifigs have), so it's not like a "bonus" minifig or anything. And in Chamber of Secrets, Harry turns into Goyle when he drinks the Polyjuice Potion, so that's not it either. Hrm...

So _that's_ where all the green 1x1 with vertical clips are... they're really, really hard to find on Bricklink for some reason.

Sorry my friend, they are 1x2 with 2 clips. That makes them twice as valuable right?

I think it's very likely they are custom/unique moulds when a regular LEGO head can't be used. Squidward is a perfect example where the look can't be achieved with a standard LEGO head.

I'm sure at least for the Simpson family they will be custom.
My question is if a new modified head will have a stud on top to allow interchangeable hair. You would only need 2 new moulds for the heads using this method, at least for the Simpson family.

250px-Simpsons_FamilyPicture.png

Seems pretty costly if they continue with new moulds for most of the characters though.

Cuusoo doesn't find many projects for Simpson anymore, probably due to the announcement.

I would be disappointed if they didn't use new moulds. Standard LEGO head works for some, but quite ugly for others as seen here: http://thebrickblogger.com/2013/03/lego-the-simpsons-news/

8075 Neptune Carrier and 8077 Atlantis Exploration HQ
So I've built Atlantis Exploration HQ and I'd say it's one of my favorites. Just the kind I like. Though I thought everything would be part of the same build and the mini vehicle would fit inside somehwere but it's two main sets (base platfrom and HQ/sub) one of which can transform. Great playability nonetheless except the enemy is on the weak side again being only one minifig with a trident. There's nowhere to put the breathing gear the minifigs wear (except to the side obv) so they don't fit in all chairs and I left the swim feet on the plastic holders unused this time.

Whoever is planning the store opening in Utah has my contempt. Again another month goes by without a store opening listing. I'm not sure how much more my heart can take!

Everything has been ordered for my MOC project. Seven orders, although most are pretty small. At the end I needed only a few parts from each shop so I filled out some orders with random crap and more Space themed minifigs.

Oh, and I went to the toy shop. For some reason their VW Campers were gone, maybe for restructuring or they had a sale on them while I looked away. Gonna ask again tomorrow. They had a few Castle sets but not the big ones, but they are in the process of getting Castle and Galaxy Squad this week.

Now, as I just bought a few GS figures I'll probably not get those sets, and probably not Castle either, but it's worth taking a look. If nothing else, one of the girls who work there is really cute :).

The Atlantis sets are tempting, especially since they can all be acquired at less than MSRP from Bricklink. I might end up getting the rest of the theme by years end.

I thought the theme looked plain dumb (lol) when I started looking into them all earlier this year. Like totally uninteresting. How the mind can change.

Edit: GITD! But not much. hm.

I just discovered the Lego Castle Medieval Village.

I need that set.

I wonder if doing it in that color scheme is more, or less, expensive than doing it the regular way. Or assuming less, how much less. Regardless, I'm not sure what I think of this color scheme. It's both cool looking and ugly, if that makes sense.

I deem it: The Sithlenium Falcon!

If Brent's model gets made, it'll probably be late 2014 at the earliest. The next CUUSOO set will be the Mars Rover.

Damn, forgot about that set. The Rover and Hayabusa do nothing for me. But if we were to receive that Japanese submarine for the first CUUSOO set... Yes please!
