My predictions:
- Portal 2 gets through
- Purdue Pete does not, too niche and limited market
- Space Troopers does not, too similar to galaxy squad
- Exo Suit, tough one, I think the design might be too flimsy for a real set but if they can strengthen it then it will get through.
-Android Bug, not sure, but likely to get through
- Zelda, maybe but chances aren't great due to Nintendo's already existing deal with
-Land rover, doesn't get through, too big and expensive to produce for a limited market.
- Mini shop series, gets made but only one shop front.
- Batmobile, doesn't due to existing licensing with DC
- League of Legends, doesn't get through, too niche a market
- Female Minifigure Set, don't really see the point of this one, already kinda covered by the friends line, doesn't get through.
- Poptropica, doesn't get through, too niche
- ATLAS model, based on past scientific sets it stands a good chance, but it's a really dull model so I'd say no.
- FTL, Nope, too niche
- Road to Oz, fairly good chance but it'd only be one set.
- Ghostbusters (both merged) fairly good chance based on the sales of the delorean and the fact there's 20k votes supporting them but the ghostbusters license is notoriously difficult to obtain which could be a killer.
- Portal 2 - YES
- Purdue Pete - YES, but only sold in US market. It's made of basic blocks. It would be great marketing to non-AFOLs soon to enter work force and have spending money.
- Space Troopers - NO, for same reasons wetwired mentioned.
- Exo Suit - NO, agree strongly the construction won't meet LEGO standards.
-Android Bug - YES
- Zelda -
-Land rover - NO, but may have chance if the minaturize it like they did with Minecraft.
- Mini shop series - NO, I think LEGO wants to stay away from these types of licensing.
- Batmobile - NO (hope I'm wrong though)
- League of Legends - NO. I'm worried LEGO doesn't want to go with minifigs as the main idea. It's a huge can of worms. Cuusoo would be flooded with custom minifigs.
- Female Minifigure Set - YES
- Poptropica - YES
- ATLAS model - NO
- FTL - YES
- Road to Oz - YES
- Ghostbusters - YES PLEASE!
All my guesses are based if they can get license.
I like guessing games.
I got mine two days ago and I only saw the Palace Cinema in there. No other modular buildings. I mean I can see the firehouse and GE going, but surely Pet Shop and Town Hall have a few more years....Right? RIGHT? I don't have Town Hall yet. Been waiting on it to hit $150 at Walmart or Target or somewhere.
LEGO website doesn't show them as "Soon to be retired". I dunno how LEGO will manage with so much overlap of the modulars right now. LEGO stores can't put all the product on the shelves there's so many now. I'll be very upset if LEGO pulls the plug on GE and Pet Shop without any warning. I still need those as well.
I'm assuming that Ecto-1 will be around $70, and that would be ok.
It better be around there or higher. If it's around $40, there's no way we get all 4 minifigs with a good chance of slimer.
Wouldn't count on Cuusoo getting bigger any time soon. Had the CFO of Lego on my show earlier today... interview was a bit of a mess because of a variety of technical issues, but we asked about Cuusoo and he basically fobbed it off as a niche product. To be honest, he didn't even speak about it as something that produces products, just talked about it being an area where Lego fans can share ideas. Which isn't really the point, is it?
I thought the point of Cuusoo was to bring ideas that typically wouldn't be LEGO products to shelves. Also, to introduce non-LEGO buyers to LEGO and lure them in that way.
Bought the Millenium Falcon 7965 for 99 and Helms Deep for 89 at Wal-Mart. They also had the Malevolence for 60 and a TON of Mines of Moria and Goblin Battle for 65. Thinking about going back for them but they had a TON so they could go down more. What do yall think?
You should be OK with those, but you never know when resellers or some AFOL with a deep LoTR love may snap them up.
The official word from LEGO on Star Wars Planets Series 4 (via FBTB):
I ordered mine from Amazon France, and they should be here tomorrow. Didn't pay much more than MSRP, but if they are not being sold in NorthAm ever, then I can see supplies drying up quickly as speculators snatch them up for resale.
Thanks for the heads up. Definitely see that happening. Once something is deemed "short supply", a resell price tag with $$$ drives demand for the set.
Just picked up
70003 Eris' Eagle Interceptor. My first set of Chima.
Uh oh. What will come of this is only written in the stars.
It's a cool looking set. Looks just like an eagle and aircraft. It's one of the better sets of Chima (I don't have many, but just based on pictures).
It comes out to $17 each for me. Hard for me to pay that much for each when I've been buying them on clearance for $7. That's probably why Series 4 isn't coming.
Depends how much you like the sets. Aftermarket prices will be much higher here in the states especially. Also, if you order more stuff, shipping cost per set goes down.
Actually I may incorrect, upon further review.
The text on the 10% coupon states:
LEGO has been making a lot of restrictive policies of late, you might say anti-consumer, when it comes to ordering from S@H or buying from LEGO stores. I hope this doesn't bite them in the ass by annoying consumers who expect the traditional "easy-going" LEGO company. I hope their recent success is not going to their heads - it's not that long ago that they were skirting bankruptcy. Pissing-off the AFOLs is a bad idea.
I hope it doesn't go too far. 10% discounts, VIP points, and nice staff are why I shop at LEGO store (oh, and the incentive giveaways). I can usually get stuff on sale or via Amazon for a bit cheaper. When you spend a few thousand a year each % off adds up.
