LEGO GAF |OT2|: Building Dreams. Demolishing Wallets

Speaking of Chima, does anyone know when the current Promo Polybag with that Chima flier ENDS and a new polybag comes out? I really have no love for Chima and it's already my second Polybag now lol...

I will wait until i buy something from Lego Shop until a new one is out!!

Do you have two of the Chima polybags? Interested in getting rid of (selling me) one? There isn't currently anything in the Lego store I am looking at, but wanted the Chima polybag.

Note that this is preliminary, so details such as some final (especially custom) elements, stickers and complete correct minifigs are missing.

Actually it was posted on a European storefront on a listing for the Tower, so I had some expectation that it was real, but I wasn't 100% sure of course.

I am disappointed as much as anyone that the pic wasn't real.

Deceit was not my intent, and never has been. After two of these threads and thousands of posts, this should be obvious. Which is why I am more than a little shocked that I would be tarred & feathered so quickly.

No excuses! Penance must be performed. I would suggest kneeling on a pile of Lego bricks for 8 hours. ;p

I'm getting this solely for the Mouth of Sauron minifig. He was easily my favorite part of the extended versions of the movies. I couldn't believe that they left such a cool scene on the cutting room floor for the theatrical version.

Amazon is having a sale on Chima sets!

The Eagle Intercepter is $26

We just bought this set a couple of days ago. Saw the beckoning Chima display at TRU and my daughter wanted whatever set had "that eagle girl" in it. Turns out it was this set. It turned out to be a fun build. Great colors and it looks very cool with all the feathers fanned out. The talons look really impressive as well. And the eagle girl (Eris?) is quite the amazing minifig, especially the helmet and wings. Our hype for the tv show is increasing after having bought this set.

So as someone looking to get into LEGO collecting/building, what are some nice beginner sets more on the cheap end to begin with? I am looking into getting some of those Chima sets that are on sale on Amazon. I wish I could still find a reasonably priced Minecraft one :/

Also good: white house architecture set. Current XWing/YWing sets have some cool mechanical things going on.

I've been impressed with the whole turtle line (have all but the sewer lair); the Baxter robot in particular has some cool articulation.

This is really fantastic. I love how alive everything feels-clearly made with love.

Oh god, what have I done....
I bought them all Legogaf... All of them.
Super star destroyer. B-wing. X-Wing. Y-wing. Millenium Falcon. Tie Fighter. Death Star. I went all out...
My poor check book....

You are the hero this thread deserves.

Minecraft is about to be VERY widely available. I bought it yesterday and the store I bought it from got 60+ of them on Tuesday. They are getting over a hundred next week.

Edited to insert Minecraft proof! Not entirely sure why I bought it to be honest, but I think it's kind of a neat display piece.

PeteZa & I have both raved about Lasting Toys before, so I thought I'd post a couple of shots of it. I feel spoiled having both LT and a Lego store within 10 minutes of each other.

Are the white boxes European ones? They have a ton of SW sets I've not seen before.
T2ExWl.jpg

A healthy collection of Space Police
oEoLjl.jpg

Tons of train tracks, both electrified and not.
W4Yx2l.jpg

All of the holiday sets (note that this was taken before Christmas and they don't think they'll get any more Toy Shop's in now)
FMKQRl.jpg

Indiana Jones, Pharoah's Quest & POTC sets
kIIVkl.jpg

The same wall more recently with Chima stuff

Lots of actual "Brick only" sets like this. They have a massive warehouse in the back that is four times the size of the retail space. I've been back there once and the shelves are glorious. They also have a huge catalog featuring pretty much any part you can imagine, with stock on site for bulk orders.
4JhWHl.jpg

All the current modulars and larger sets (like that weird Town one up top). For exclusives like modulars/mini modulars etc. they tack on an extra $20 because their discount from LEGO itself is reduced.

Still lots of Atlantis
Innryl.jpg

Oh sweet lord the wall of polys
Cia4ul.jpg

They also have pretty much every keychain ever made, all issues of that fan-made LEGO magazine....all the books & a huge Technic wall.

Place rules.

Edit:

Very stable there!

Awesome choice of rider!

Really? I bought everything except for the Turtle Lair, but I felt like most of the builds were lame. The Baxter Robot and Kraang Lab are probably the only sets I'll leave assembled in the long run.

The white Star Wars boxes are from the 2009 line I believe.

The prices on some of those old Star Wars sets are far cheaper than they are on Bricklink.

I need to go to this place!

EDIT: They actually have LEGO Vikings sets on their shelves... amazing.

They are quite cognisant of how much less expensive their out of print sets are. They work closely with LEGO so they can't mark them up without damaging their relationship & reducing the discount.

They see regulars who are obviously buying things to resell them, and they refuse to sell to them. I actually spoke with them about it a few weeks ago and they say they're easy to spot. These people love their LEGO.

I don't mean to spam the thread, but I forgot to mention that they have Series 2 through 9 minifigs, all at retail price. Additionally, they often have a few earmarked that are "pre felt"

Man, I would love to go there.

Also Mouth of Sauron is crazy because I thought he was only in the Extended Edition of RotK, right? I can't rightly remember, because I haven't seen the theatrical cut since it was in theatres.

Like others said, I would return the B-wing and use the money for the Imperial Shuttle. The B-wing will be here for at least another year.

that's what I was gonna say, looks great, I wonder how it would look with alternating light grey and dark grey cobbling

Going to have to look into stealing that cobblestone idea. It is gorgeous. I just dont have tons of the round tiles.

And god help me, I am looking to special order train chassis plates from LEGO to make train MOCs. I dont want to buy a whole new set just to disassemble for parts (too pricey) no matter how tempting it is. But for around $20 I can get what I need as a foundation to build on.

Really hope that eagle mould makes the final cut- would love a few of them!

I hope they improve upon it, looks a bit bland in it's current state, maybe some printing will help.

It looks like a great set (the wall looks awesome) but I think I'll skip it and just bricklink the mouth of sauron.

also does anyone else find the grey beard on gandalf the white weird?

Not as weird as the blonde hair.

I just ordered some of those new 1 x 1 round tiles for the ghostbusters HQ, they're not cheap :(

Any Gaffer here display their MOCs on MOCpages.com? Would like to see some work.

I have some of my earlier stuff on there but I use flickr now.

oh man I've been waffling about the Imperial Shuttle for weeks now and I went today and Amazon is sold out, over $300 now :(. Anybody have leads on stock? I don't think my local store's got it.

Damn. You're making me want to go back there like, right NOW. Must wait another month and use my birthday as an excuse to go hog wild there. I see that they still have the Midi Star Destroyer. I bought one from them during my first visit and it is escorting my Super Star Destroyer on my display shelf. It looks so good that I'm thinking about getting another one or two of them and having a mini-fleet. I don't see it in your pictures, but I'm hoping that they still have the Venator-class ship in stock.

From bricklink or lego? From bricklink I'd guess they are expensive as they still aren't in many sets, but they should be reasonable from lego?

I'm seeing 10 eurocent from LEGO, 8 eurocent from Bricklink. Doesn't sound much until you realize how many you need. You can never have enough tiles, especially the round ones!

Well, the round ones are new as of last year. Give it time and they will be very easy to come by. I found the Orc Forge set to be a great source for them.
