LEGO |OT 3| Build Hard. Buy Fast. No Mercy.

the juggling stilts guy is amazing. I never would have thought putting a clip on his hat to hold a flying club if they gave me a hundred years to come up with ideas.

Just watched the video. So bought!! Very creative. I love the way how everything arrives in trucks just like a real carnival does.

Now I regret selling my Grand Carousel last year. :(

Yesterday I learned that Adam Grabowski (designer of the Haunted House, QAR, UCS Imperial Shuttle) also designed the Lone Ranger Silver Mine Shootout!

I would put Adam up there with Jamie and Marcos as designers to look for.

Really. What's the deal with Silver Mine Shootout? I pick up the box and I see a wall of BURPs and random slopes, with a building made from pillars. What's so amazing about it? I see the greatness of other beloved sets like Bug Obliterator and Quinjet, but this?

I'm liking this new carnival set. So different from the rest of the stuff out. Now that this is due out, next year I'd like to see them use one of their city sub themes as more carnival rides and attractions to add to this to make one huge display if you wanted. The big $100 set could be like a Ferris wheel or small roller coaster or something.

Well, he's on my list now.

The burp doesn't do much in the set. The wall mainly comes together with a really chaotic build that I liked. But the interactive touches in the set are what really set it apart.
I was cold on it at first too, but the build and play function when it is done was so great. It is one that looks lame upon first glance but the experience as it comes together is why I loved it so much. I blame Ghostmind.

Silver Mine Shootout is a poor man's 7036 Dwarves' Mine. Its got BURPs and column bricks too, but all the Dwarfy vs Orc stuff is a lot of fun, and its a great set for minifig building.

I went to Legoland Windsor today. What a disappointment that was. I'd read people saying that the Miniland was needing some TLC, but it didn't prepare me for how run down it looks. Everything is worn and discoloured, and just looks like it's been forgotten about (which doesn't seem far from the truth).

On top of that three major rides were having issues, the food was (predicably) lousy and I had to face the disappointing reality of being in the largest dedicated Lego store I've ever been in and know that I can't use my VIP card there. Not a surprise, but it still sucks. On the plus side, the more recent Star Wars Miniland was actually very good.

On another happier note, I bricklinked the last two Simpsons minifigures I needed rather than faff about with another trip into town to feel out blind bags, and they arrived super-quick today. So now I have a complete set of Simpsons CMFs.

Got my Revan!

Now I just need to build the Ebon Hawk... hrm...

wat? how'd you get Revan already?

Also: Why is there no Ebon Hawk yet what with all the Old Republic love Lego dishes out lately? That'd be the only OR set i'd be interested in actually buying hmmm (complete with Bastilla and that Droid-forget-his-name)

I'm loving the fair ground set. Seeing the truck with the mobile that expands and then spins after the fact - I'm sure there's going to be some great build techniques in the set.

Actually a lot more part-based building than BURPs in this set - if anything the BURPs are just the base foundation for a lot of detail. This set was one of the most fun builds I did in 2013. Believe the hype.

I bought 2 of them a while back when they were on discount and everyone was clearing the Lone Ranger stuff out. Having the burps for landscape building is super great.

We don't have the May 4th promos here, but my local store got it somehow and put it on sale for an absurd price... that I paid.

My love for KOTOR is too great. I couldn't resist.

now i'm dying to know that price lol... ;) is it bad that i don't actually remember just who exactly Revan was in the game? I mean i DO know that somehow
your main character ends up recovering from his amnesia but... wasn't HE actually Revan himself or just following Revan? Do you EVER get to see him in the game?

Revan is
the player character, the Jedi erase his memory as part of their cunning plan.

I'd love an Ebon Hawk, but since KOTOR has apparently been nuked from canon along with the rest of the EU, I doubt it'll happen. :(

You do see him in that outfit in numerous flashbacks and the reveal sequence... the mask hides your face and the cloak keeps it looking gender neutral in case you played as a female Revan :)

I think by being rubber, they can get away with flatter sections like the ears of Itchy & Scratchy and Mr. Burn's pointy nose. Those parts would break easily if they were hard plastic.

I think sometimes the mould shape also requires the pieces to be a bit flexible to remove it. I have not examined those heads closely to see if that's the case for those.

Wasn't that captured by the Mixer at first, but after seeing it more and more I'm really getting interested. It's so neat how everything fits together.

Why do there have to be so many things I want to buy! Hoping there's no good deals on May 4th just so I can avoid having to spend then <_<

So much for the modular rumor...LOL.

We should see a press release, and a designer vid, in about 36 minutes (from the time of the original post)...

It's nice looking, but the wow factor can only be seen in a video. The design factor is brilliant. Jaimie said this was something he wanted to do since he joined LEGO. It shows that it has his usual attention to details and a lot of passion thrown into it.

Oh...My....God.

I must have that Carnival in my life. I will watch the vid later but did they mention if they intend on making this an ongoing theme? There is just a dozen things I could see added on to this.

House of Mirrors/Funhouse
Petting Zoo
Ferris Wheel
Gravitron
Concert Stage with the No Name Lego Country Band
Food area with porto-johns
Demon Drop
Bearded Lady/Crazy sideshow booths

Oh my, the ultimate would be a full on Roller Coaster. Oh i'm so giddy for this, Can't wait to integrate the Winter Market into this. I now need a huge display area for this. The scene could easily be updated for seasons too, Creepy Carnival for Halloween, Winter Carnival for Christmas.

Got twelve unique simpson minifigs, not bad at all. Ralph and milhouse are the only similar ones. Love itchy and scratchy.

Love jaime but I'm not feeling that set. I guess playing sets are not my thing.

I can't even begin to imagine how much that would cost.

Maybe it could be a Wild Mouse-style coaster.

Probably be mostly those large strut pieces and railroad tracks, but those things would drive the cost right up.

Was kind of thinking maybe a coal mine type roller coaster, think tracks running through the Silver Mine Shootout. Then again that just gave me an idea for another set, like a Log Splash Mountain type ride. That's probably MOCable though right now with the Silver Mine set.

don't ask me for codes
Yeah, I'd make some space for a motorized rollercoaster or ferris wheel. But that'll be really expensive.

Have you seen the video yet? =) I wasn't feeling it when I saw the pictures, but watching the video totally changed my mind. The way the mixer arrives on the truck and then unfolds out to become the ride is pretty creative.

I recommend seeing the video. I understand the feeling of being underwhelmed. I was underwhelmed, but after watching the video I saw how clever the build is. That doesn't mean I will get the set, but it's much more impressive seeing how the set works.

Yeah I watched it, I'm not huge on play sets like that to be honest, it has to look good on the box to attract me. To be honest I think the whole thing looks like a mess.

As cool as it all is to unload off trucks I would have prefer a more fleshed out scene with a little tent and more stalls and exclude the trucks. I guess that leaves room for people to expand it themselves but as it stands, it's not for me.

It would also be nice if LEGO could get over their huge aversion to baseplates in sets. Obviously they have no problem selling them separately, but I think some sets have suffered with their resistance to include them these days.

Did they not have the Left plate for Medium Stone Gray Right Plate 3X6 W. Angle - 7?

I went gangbusters and got a HUGE amount of those

Nope, nor did they have the connecting part for the

but hopefully they have it eventually.

It was pretty exciting, will do again next time they rotate. I'm not sure how often they do that.

Forgot to add it up earlier, 402 pieces for $16.

You are both right. This set shares the Winter Village problem of simply too many disparate builds. If there was some sort of unifying ground/park space then it would be far more appealing to me. All I see now is a messy set.

Finally built Cad Bane's Speeder with the kids. Awful build (thing falls apart like crazy) but great figs. It's tough building one-handed...latest prognosis may be up to eighteen months before I can move my right hand. The specialists still have no idea what happened...control literally just disappeared as I was sleeping.

That sounds scary, but I'm glad to hear that it isn't permanent.

Picked up the Eiffel Tower today at the LEGO store in Valley Fair.

Can't wait to build it later and it'll probably join Big Ben on my desk at work.

Exactly my thoughts. In te end just how many times are you gonna use that initial feature of unloading once you've done it to see how it works? Then all that's left will be a set that doesn't look THAT great when set up. nah i'll sit this one out and invest that cash in other sets instead
