Let's Talk About PlayStation VR: List of Upcoming Titles

Sorry for a dumb question, but what is 3D audio, and what are the differences from VSS.

Where virtual 7.1 simulates sound coming from 7 directions around you (plus a low frequency channel), 3D audio can create sounds anywhere in 3D space very accurately, even above and below the player. It simulates direction, distance, depth, and movement relative to the player using just standard stereo headphones.

On PSVR, the 3D audio is processed by the external box, so to receive that you'll need to plug headphones into the 3.5mm socket found on the control box on the headset's lead.

If you're using wireless headphones or a sound system connected directly to the PS4, I would have though it likely you'd get a standard sound format - stereo or perhaps surround.

You certainly wouldn't want to rely on just your TVs speakers. Every time you turn your head the sound will be coming from the totally wrong direction.

Battlezone is a full-price title? jesus...

I can't say any of the VR games seem like they'd be worth $50 at present.

I expect the cheaper games (and VR Worlds) will do better initially, as people are going to want to try as many experiences as possible.

I'd have paid $30 for Battlezone without pause...but with the many low priced PSN titles and things like Arkham and Rush of Blood coming in at under $20..$50 for Battlezone (or RIGS for that matter)doesn't seem like great value.

I get the argument that people may prefer a lot of smaller less expensive experiences as opposed to spending top dollar on one bigger title but your comparing a 2 hour gameplay experience(which includes a full replay of the game) to games that have full single player campaigns and multiplayer modes. If you're looking at value I'm pretty sure battlezone and rigs will have a much better playtime/cost ratio.

A newly announced title:

How The Brookhaven Experiment puts you face to face with fear on PlayStation VR

When we showed off our demo at GDC and SXSW, people were lined up all day to play it.

We turned out to be right, and we are excited for all the soon-to-be PSVR owners out there to have this experience and share it with their friends and family!

https://blog.eu.playstation.com/2016/08/29/brookhaven-experiment-puts-face-face-fear-playstation-vr/

No release date but given it has been demoed a few times it is probably close to finished.

Yesterday myself and my wife ran some errands while we dropped our dog off to get groomed. We had a good 3 hours to kill so she wanted to go to TJ Maxx, which is right next door to Best Buy so I figured okay, I can kill some time in Best Buy.

We got there about 10 minutes before the store opened at 11, so once the doors opened I went towards the back of the store to the TV department to see some HDR sets in person, and lo and behold much to my surprise there was a PSVR demo booth with no one there at all except the kid running it.

Needless to say I spent the next 20 or so minutes checking out the PSVR for the first time. I do also own Oculus for the PC and I have to say, I saw little to no difference at all in the overall quality of the visuals. I do have a 980 Ti in my PC so perhaps if I had a 1080 I would not be saying this, but from a visual standpoint they were pretty damn similar. I purposely checked out Eve since I had a comparison point. The PSVR's visuals looked a little, and I mean just a very little, less crisp. But overall the effect achieved was identical.

Perhaps the most surprising aspect of the PSVR was just how much more comfortable it is compared to Oculus. It really feels a hell of a lot lighter thanks to the design itself. However with that said, the material used on it instantly made me sweat up a storm. I felt like it was 1979 and I had fallen asleep on my grandmother's old pleather couch (plastic leather for those who do not know the term), and it really made things so damn hot. Now it did not help that I am not sure if Best Buy's AC was broken or they just turned it on but the store itself was pretty hot. But seriously the material of the PSVR, while way more comfortable, was a whole lot hotter than Oculus.

Battlezone was pretty kick ass. I will be picking that up. Then someone else showed up and because I was so hot and they were waiting I stopped playing there.

But really I saw no major difference between the PSVR and Oculus for the end consumer. Those looking to dive into VR who do not have a PC capable of doing so and only have a PS4 will still be able to do so without any doubt.

It's a launch title, uploadvr confirmed it with the dev this week.

http://uploadvr.com/50-days-ps-vr-45-brookhaven-experiment-coming-ps-vr-launch/

I'll update the OP soon

Quote from the dev:

“Brookhaven will be on PS VR, at day one, as the full game,” Corcoran told Upload during a phone interview. “We had a demo running about 8 months ago and we did a lot of work to maintain the 360-degree gameplay with only a single camera, it works really well.”

I apologize if this has been discussed to death already somewhere but I couldn't find anything definitive on this:

At least "Summer Lesson" will be released, it seems, but everything I read still billed it as a tech demo.

- This will be Japan-only, right?

- Will there be a retail release? I cannot imagine there will be BUT play-asia has it listed.....not available for order though. Does this mean anything or do they tend to do that for games that end up being digital-only?

"Brookhaven" sounds very neat as well, but that will also be only for download without any physical release, I suppose?

Most VR games will be digital only releases

As for Summer Lessons, what has been shown of both versions has been tech demos yes, we have no futher gameplay than that of PS Experience. But it should be a full experience of sort.

Great news guys, PlayStation Asia games coming to the West thanks to Oasis Games (Publishing Partner with PS Business Development)

Here are 5 games coming to launch window of PSVR from Asia

Ace Banana
If you’re a Banana Archer protecting a stash of bananas, there’s one thing you need to watch out for. That’s right, monkeys! In this arcade archery game, you’ll grab your bow and fight off waves of marauding monkeys — because if they get all your bananas, it’s game over. The game features waves of enemies, intuitive archery using one Move controller for your bow hand and another for your arrow hand, and single and multiplayer modes.

Weeping Doll
A story-driven horror adventure where dolls can come alive, animated by the angry thoughts that arise whenever their children feel wronged. You’ll navigate tough puzzles in eerie environments to solve the mystery of an abused girl’s doll that takes revenge on her parents — and things only get scarier from there!

Pixel Gear
Shoot those pixel monsters! This game is a colorful 3D pixel shoot-em-up with a variety of crazy cartoon monsters and ghosts as enemies. Each level is packed with interactive objects that exhibit entertaining reactions when hit, and upgradeable weapons grant the ability to slow down or even stop time.

Dying: Reborn
Prepare to delve into a dark, horror-themed puzzle game that recreates a unique first-person room escape experience in VR. You’ll examine, collect, and use items to solve a variety of creative puzzle types to escape each spooky room, feeling shivers down your spine at every turn!

Mixip
In this arcade space shooter, you’ll control two ships simultaneously, wielding a Move controller in each hand. Combine the ships for new abilities, dodge heavy fire, and grab upgrades to increase weapon power and take down bosses! It’s like a throwback to bullet hell shooters of the past, but brought to life in a cool VR world where you take your fate in your hands — literally.

With more games to come all the way through 2017.

Weeping doll seems to fit in that sweet horror VR fix I really want. (But kind of filling up fast with Paranormal activity, RE7 and Here they lie)

Pixel Gear seems like a lot of mindless fun.

I love escape rooms (going on my second tomorrow evening this month), so dying reborn is a must too.

And Mixip sounds like it could be neat? This one I need to see a video of I guess before deciding on getting or not.

Finally Ace Banana is the only one I feel like I can pass even if it could also be a cool demo to show people.

Man family christmas party are going to be fun, showing all that to everyone. :D

Still not sure about PSVR horror games: I made it through the RE7 demo on the big screen, but I'm not sure I could do it in VR.

The PS Access videos for RE7 and HTL were funny, but if you're fully immersed in it I can see it being pretty scary...

Hey guys, just posting some vids of the Asian games that where announced to be coming to the West. Also, Headmaster got two new trailers this week officialy confirming launch date and no one noticed I'll post them too.

Weeping Doll looks very interesting. Is it a puzzler?

Wikipedia
Carnival Games (known in Europe and Australia as Carnival Funfair Games) is a video game for Nintendo's Wii console and the Nintendo DS. It was published by Global Star Software, before GSS was absorbed into Take-Two Interactive (and what is now 2K Play).

Despite poor reviews by most gaming websites and critics, the game was a commercial success. The Wii and DS versions of the game have combined shipped over 7 million copies to date,[1] which according to the NPD Group, is the third best-selling third-party game on the Wii.
I can see why they'd try Carnival Games again.

Looks like it's also an escape room of sort maybe? Just more horror-themed with the living dolls and stuff.

As for Carnival Games, never tried the Wii/DS one. But I'll look at a video when they'll have one available I guess to see if I'd have any reasons to get it. (doubt it)

Plinko

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Oh God, IT LIVES.

Maybe...It'll be...Ok?

I'm actually surprisingly interested in that. Could be a fun diversion for the right price. Carnival Island played really well with Move controllers on PS3.

Is Batman move only? Or can you use the controller too?

Don't think we know much of it. But I assume the experience would probably be subpar with a DS4 if they support it. Considering it uses the hands style of controls.

Was that the same dev?

Here They Lie
Loading Human
FATED: The Silent Oath
Robinson: The Journey
Until Dawn: Rush of Blood
Super Stardust Ultra VR

Maybes:
