Let's Talk About PlayStation VR: List of Upcoming Titles

well actually I think VR isn't recomended for children to begin with... due to being dangerous to not fully developed vision and dpe (distance per eye) in kids being smaller... or something like that (if i remember reading it correctly)... I think that's why sony doesn't advert it with children.

On the other hand... my head is ready...

Health & Safety info added with the 3.50 update stated that PSVR was not to be used by anyone aged under 12.

Over here the PSVR carries a PEGI 12 rating. Not sure whether that's due to H&S or because of the demo disc.

Was looking to pick up a head like that. Where'd you pick that one up? Been looking at them on Amazon but haven't made a decision yet.

So many launch games.

As we're getting close to release (less than 2 months!), I'm mostly getting worried as to amazon's (.ca in my case) timing on shipping my headset. I took from 13th to 23rd off to play some VR and do other things, but it's going to suck if I receive the headset a week late.

Guess I'll just cancel part of my vacation if there's any delay.. but yeah.

I took from 15th to 30th... I'll have a couple of days to beat The Last Guardian (in theater mode if it pays off)

So I know recently there was some false info going around about how much space the PSVR needs.

Do we have the true space requirements yet? I'd like to make sure I have the space for this all ready to go.

Just make sure you have enough distance to not hit anything and make sure the camera sees the headset. That's pretty much it

That's what I'm worried about, that my room will be too small and it won't be able to see me at all times. Is there a way to display what the camera sees on your TV so that you can tell what you've got to work with?

Anyone else think the actual launch line up will be a lot smaller than the "confirmed" launch line up? It feels like we're getting pretty close, and so few of those games are available for pre-order.

I hope not. That would be a discouraging foot to get off on.

Cheers! Gonna get out that measuring tape when I get home.

Is there any rule of thumb for if the camera should be up higher or lower?

You just can mess around with "the playroom" camera configuration and see if the camera can see you while you're sit and standing.

For what I have tried, the minimum is:

-For games that require the player both be sitting and standing like The Heist:
camera 1.10 high
player at least at 1.50m from the camera

-For games that require only be sitting or standing (not both) like could be EVE Valkyria, RIGS, Battlezone or The Deep:
camera 50~60cm high (or on top of your TV pointing directly to the player)
player at 60~70cm from the camera

The only game that requires the player to be able to stand up looks to be The Heist, the other games right now are sitting or standing only, not both.

You could use Playroom as an example to see what the camera sees or you could see E3 booth displays to see what you would need as a bare minimum in space.

All I'm interested in day one is VR Worlds (London Heist was great), Robinson and maybe Job Simulator and Batman.

War Thunder, RE7 demo and Play Room will be nice freebies.

This is how PlayStation VR games need to be promoted. Gives an approximation of how games will look.

I use the face recognition log in. Just check it can recognise you and your DS4 when you're standing and sitting down. If it can see your face, it will be able to see the headset!

Make sure that sunlight doesn't hit the lenses, it can destroy the screen in very short time.

I tried this demo. Unfortunately it seems there isn't any gameplay nor interaction. Looks like its more of a 360 experience/video kind of thing. London Heist is the better one, I like the car chase.

Anyone knows how was called the video of Sony giving a talk about VR development where they talked about how thre tracking system of the PSVR works with the leds and the acelerometers showing a house and how they calculate where the camera should end??

I think it was a unity dev talk 'cause at the end they told something like if you are using unity just enter and download the new libraries or so...

Is not this video, but this video includes a frame of the house and some of the presentation (reprojection) used in the other video

It could be Unite 2015, but can't find it

It's too soon the panic. Just wait and it might self correct as the date gets closer. In the worst case, you can try doing online chat before calling if that helps dealing with your anxeity.

I want to play a game like deus ex or fallout in VR.

Are there any normal as games announced for VR?

I don't want gimmicky VR experiences. I want games.

EVE, RIGS, Robinson, Here they Lie, Battlezone... are considered full games according to their full price (not sure all are full price since aren't all the prices announced)

Anybody pre-order a PSVR from Wal-Marts website? I pre-ordered the day it was available back in March and I got a shipping date of November 7th. They had a placeholder date of Oct 31 but when Sony announced the release date of October 13th, Wal-Mart has not updated their shipping date.

I was wondering if anyone else has the same issue.

A technical question

Regarding cinema mode, anyone know what we can expect from the ps vr 1080p single screen compared to the sony hmz-t3 dual 720p oled screens? Which version should theoretically be best? Because I love the picture quality of the hmz headsets and thinking of buying one of those for 800$ but If ps vr Will be about the same I might wait for that

Well, I don't know if the HMZ uses an RGB or Pentile matrix, but let's assume it uses RGB like PS VR does. Then the one 1080p display still has 12.5% more pixels than the two 720p.

That also seems to be a strange choice since Oculus Rift and HTC Vive both have their separate displays at a 8:9 ratio so they would be 16:9 combined.

Regarding the optics, I think it's safe to assume that PS VR profited from earlier experience in that field, so they should be at least as good as HMZ's.

All in all, I think, if you liked the HMZ, this should be right up your sleeve.

Alright I think I figured out my psvr launch lineup. Had to severely shorten it because alot of regular ps4 games come out in October thru December.

So I'm going with..

Rigs
Psvr worlds
Batman Arkham vr
Battlezone
Until dawn rush of blood
Driveclub vr
Battlefront x-wing mission(is this separate or is it free because I own battlefront?)

Good list.. won't repost mine from earlier.

But I think I'll get one title at a time or something in order of what I want most until I feel like I spent enough / got enough VR time for that time frame.

Yea that was my initial plan but in my situation I need enough games for me Nd the lady to play without bumping heads

Well FO4 is being reworked for a VR mode for the Vive for release next year, not sure if they have plans to adapt it for psvr though. They'd be fools not to if offered as a cheap dlc, could push a lot of units. I'm sure Sony has had one or two discussions with them about it :p

All in all, I think, if you liked the HMZ, this should be right up your sleeve.

The HMZ has a relatively narrow field of view, since it's designed for watching video. It simulates a large screen at a reasonable difference so you can see the whole screen comfortably. Because of this, it uses the full resolution of the 720p OLED displays. The PSVR, with a wider field of view will either make the image too large to see fully without moving your head, or not use the full resolution of the screen.

One of the reasons the HMZ line was so expensive was the fancy optics to make the tiny screens appear further away. The breakthrough in modern VR is to use shaders to warp the image to correct for cheaper, simpler optics. There's probably some quality loss in the process though. All of this is iirc, of course, I'm pretty sure I remember someone from Sony mentioning the HMZ optics (most likely in reference to the PS VR design), but it could've been speculation.

The HMZ will probably have better image quality for video, but the PS VR might have fun things like being able to watch movies in an old opera house, or on the bridge of a space ship. For half the price I'd suggest waiting until PS VR comes out and you can try the media playback on one.

How much are they going to have to downgrade it to run the game at 60fps locked?

I'd say it won't happen until PS5 since Neo can't have exclusive games.

Battlezone up to pre-order in the EU Store (59,99€)

Well I was day 1 before, but the new trailer has just confirmed it. New enemy types, new weapons, looking better than ever. Really glad for Rebellion that they got the publishing deal for the physical copy.

Preordered for £49.99 from SEN/PSN. Available to play in 48 days, 19 minutes and however long it takes DPD to deliver the headset.

Wonder whether it will be preloading on my launch day unit, or something shinier...

If that's a good representation of PSVR I'm happy with it display-wise.

It's not really a good representation though. There's no 3d depth to the video which is the biggest thing for VR. There's 0 ways to look at a youtube video and get how it looks.

What the 360 thing does on youtube is just give you an idea of the looking around effect, but on a 2d plane.
