Suddenly it's a thing that's progressing more quickly, isn't it?

Not sure how it happens - if people vote, gay marriage is kind of bound to lose in most places. So it's out of... pure good will from politicians? Wow, what an alien concept to me, lol.

So did you guys hear that Brasil approved gay marriage today, yay!

Yup, awesome stuff.

I simply can't wait to see it become legal throughout the world, slowly but surely. Warms my heart, despite all the violent reactions. Wasn't there a disturbingly large "kill the gays" thing online after it passed in France?

Ah damn it I skipped work out day today :/ I really need to get back on track.
What sucks is that you take a day off and you kind of start derailing your routine, so I need to fix it :V

thats usually how social change happens. Once it starts it happens quickly or its crushed. And as people achieve better standards of living they're able to move beyond voting based on getting food on the table and a roof over your head.

Throughout the world is a bit of a stretch as I don't expect to see that happening anytime in the middle east within my lifetime

@Escape Goat: Awesome :)

Hopefully at some point, homosexual people will have a hard time understanding the crap some people have to endure right now. I'm not expecting homophobia to be erased from Earth if racism is any indication, but things are bound to get much better.

@Henchmen21: Bleh, it's almost like some regions don't count to me, lol. They're lost causes, objectively horrible places to live in. It's pretty sad.

Here in Mexico, I don't know what to think, the city I currently live in (Toluca) should be called Closet City (and I'm guilty too, lol). I've been here since 2001 and I have seen -one- same sex couple holding hands in public, and it was a couple of months ago. It's weird because Mexico City (where I was born) is like 45 minutes from here and it's a completely different experience. So weird.

As Hamburglar (does anyone refer to him as his new name?) said, they usually do get locked eventually and it is either because it escalated or it was just terrible from the beginning and no one looked at it. It happens; clearly no one has been looking at this topic.

I'm not saying "Stop completely"; I'm saying you guys don't need to pic dump 5, 10, 15 pictures in a post, you don't need bare asses or pubic hair, and you don't need be on about it constantly. And I realize that expecting self-moderation might be a bit optimistic but I'd really prefer it.

I'll slow it down Mumei. :)

Actually I'm not really sure what advice to give because what I would do in that situation is try to 'feel it out'. As ridiculous as it might sound I find that big decisions like that usually kind of defy reasoning or creating a list of pros and cons, and instead hunches seem more reliable. If there are a lot of variables to consider I think our unconscious tends to have access to a lot more data than our conscious ability to reason so in my experience going that way usually seems to result on a more competent decision, but apparently this is also risky because I read a study where like 25% of the people that followed a 'hunch' tended to get lead in the opposite direction lol.

I would like to chime in on this conversation.
When I read your post umop, I started nodding. It's the method I love, when it comes to experiencing this world and decision making. Yet I still have room to grow in that department.

But, It's only part of the tools we have to set us on our path, that fulfills our wants, needs, desires and goals.

So we have 3 categories, we have to develop and learn in order to use them at our advantage.

1.- Mind (Cognition, good ol' brain)
2.- Body (Feeling, emotion, sensation)
3.- Soul (That healthy, lively essence that brings us to the divine)

We have a lot of resources, a lot of information to take into account in order to make the best decision we can make for ourselves at that time. Don't disregard your anxiety, gut feelings, body aches, sighs, perception, reasoning, memory, self etc.
They all work together, there isn't one category that takes precedence . They compliment each other. We have to be skillful and use them at their fullest.

Cosmic, try to have a clear understanding of your wants and needs, and use your faculties to the best of your ability. If you need help, hopefully you know someone who knows how to listen and respects you. That helps a lot.

Umop been wanting to pm you for a week now. I'll try to finish the pm by tonight thanking you. You rock man! *hugs

I finished mine today and just lay on the floor for a bit while my body kind of felt like it was dying.

... I love it so much.
Brofist.

That moment, when you've just finished your workout and lay on the floor dying, is both the worst and the best moment of the training. :D

Huphbup.... I'll be close to 40 in 5 years. Damn you youngsters!!!!!!!!

Christ. I will be 40 in five years. That's going to be one dark, cloudy day.

I'll be 30. And hopefully abroad.

You're getting a sex change?

no one's going to get that joke.

What kind of job is it (like career oriented or just a job)?

It's all theoretical for now, but I suspect it won't be later this week. Everything is "just a job" to me, although this would be in my field, at least. I have an idea of which direction to go in, and this is fueled by a hunch as well as slightly higher personal interest. Far as I know, the positions would pay the same, so (un)fortunately that won't be a factor.

Hahaha, such a lovely pic :D.
Well Mr. Cosmic, you must be one talented and fortunate baker, two companies want you as an employe. Kudos.

Mr. Ham. That's Wil Wheaton as your avatar right? Find him kinda cute but when he calls himself Awesome! Uuggh. Makes me cringe.

Yeah. I personally haven't been posting as much during this period, but the thread essentially goes through phases. We're currently in the pic dump phase but it'll rotate out. It's a little fascinating in that regard but understandable to a degree. There are only so many things that a community thread on sexuality can reasonably address.

Brofist.

Ha, I may have overdone it last night but I'd essentially missed two weeks of working out. Once I'd recovered I was happy I got through it but I really need to learn when I'm reaching my limit.

I don't know any of those porn star :/ (well that Rapid dude I know, he's cute but most of his videos I find boring).

Actually most big name pornstar (and studio porn), are insanely bland to me. They all feel so faked and it kills any sort of excitement I had.

So I basically lifted weights for like, the second time in my life ever. Thanks to my uncle encouraging me to do so.

I lifted yesterday and today my arms hurt so much I can barely move them. What the fuck is this normal? Why do people ever work out.

Yeah it's normal. Feels great too. The day after a hard workout, and your arms are all sore and numb and have a floaty feeling. I love it.

Keep at it. Give it 6-8 weeks at least when you notice the gains and you will wonder why you never lifted before.

Weight training is like training your Pokemon or grinding in a RPG. Hard work.

I have to go buy new shirts, they all feel tight now across my chest and sleeves.

I did see a really funny porn one time (it could have been sort of amateur hard to tell) that I believe was British and the guy
pulls off the other guy's pants
and says "Woah. George Bush would call that a weapon of mass destruction" and then randomly asks him if he likes George Bush. It was so random and funny at the same time.

Do or did you guys participate in the gay society stuff in college or high school?

My school has stuff going on through the entire month of may and I'm thinking of participating. I'm simply unsure if I'll meld with the fellas/gals that DO particiapte in those things.

I never did since we don't have those in Nowheretown, Mexico. Not sude if I would have given the chance, though, precisely because of that reason :p

It's sad that all Mexico is like that, Mexico City is awesome but even in the surrounding Estado de México you find homophobia. I think the other cool city is Guadalajara but I'm not so sure about it.

I avoided that stuff like the plague, personally. But, like you say, it kind of depends on the people running it and what they intend to do with it. For me it was always a bit too "Let's get drinks and pretend we're Sex in the City" and I already had plenty of other random things filling my time in undergrad.

For real, here in Estado de México... it feels like living 50 years in the past and not only because of this :p It just "feels" old and outdated, lol.

None.

Typically I find I have nothing in common. And grouping up with a bunch of people who happen to share my sexuality (as only reason) doesn't really jive with me.

Gays can have broad interests and be nothing alike. I mean, there aren't any groups just for "Straight people!". Their interests would be wayyy out there. All they would have in common in their sexuality.

I know the gay groups are mostly for support and comradery but eh...

GAF has gays that are typically gamers (or like geeky/nerdy shit), so thats why THIS right here works for me :)

This is one of the best things about working out. I love when you notice how much progress you've made like that.
Or when your thighs rip out of your trousers. :p

The LGBT in my university was awesome, because the people who ran it were also members of the nerdy societies (Like Sci-Fi Soc and NetSoc) so our events were great. My advice would be to go to a few events so as not to judge them too quickly, as some events will bring in a different crowd. The LGBT society in the last Uni I worked in as a postgrad had a reputation for bitchyness though so I didn't bother with that one.

This so much. I honestly can't automatically bond with people just because we watch the same porn.

We had a very small group in my high school that was trying to prevent Issue 1 in Ohio back in 2004. (Issue 1 was the ban on gay marriages, civil unions, and unmarried couples to have similar rights to married couples). It didn't do much but it was a nice little group, even if I was the only gay guy there (ironic).

In college though there was a much bigger LGBT group but it was mainly a dating group. They would set record numbers of how many people attended (over 100!) but maybe a month later the number would fall all the way down to single digits. And they would have issues about the most trivial things and made them seem like they were so important. Doesn't help that I never hooked up with anyone there. :/

We don't really have those here (there's a gay association I think but they have zero presence and I'm not even sure it really exist anymore tbh), I never felt particularly interested anyway. Most of the gays I have, I met and bonded with way before I even knew they were gay and I don't feel I'd be able to be friend with someone just because of his/her orientation.

I don't even know when the Gay pride is happening here, never went to a gay bar or anything like that either tbh :/

Nope. Wasn't out.

Though I don't think my high school even had a group for them.

Gay group at my school was largely just a meat market for guys to meet and fuck. Advancing gay issues and civic work was just a pretense and most didnt even volunteer.

I can't say I'm not guilty of checking out my university's GSA for this very purpose (and then getting slightly disappointed after finding out that it was just a gaggle of overweight lesbians).

There was no gay group in my high school since it was a private christian high school, and most of the teachers + students seemed to not particularly like LGBT people, to say the least. My college is LGBT friendly but I don't think there's a group. Probably wouldn't go since I'm so awkward anyways.

There was a GSA at my high school but they closed it down due to complaints from parents.

Aww, that's lame.

There's a thread in gaming where everyone posts their top 5 favoritest games. What's LGBTgaf's top 5 games of all time?

Mine!

Mine.

It's incredibly hard, and it's something that keeps changing :/

Yeah, mine changes a little bit over the years. I'm going through the entire Mario series for the first time(with the exception of Sunshine and Galaxy), and I'm on Mario 3 right now. Who knows if Mario 3, Super Mario World, Mario 64 or Galaxy 2 will end up in my top 10. I mean, I've played just about every Mario as a kid, but never got far, so now I'm actually finishing them.

The first two Mario games were a bloody blast to play through though.

Super Mario Bros. 2 is godly and by far the game I've completed the most times (along with Street Fighter II). I loved it on NES, then on SNES, then on GBA (then on VC, lol). I know pretty much every single warp, I love the music, everything about it is awesome. Definitely still my favorite 2D platformer.

Super Star Ultra > Adventure.

Return to Dream Land also > Adventure
It's weird but I don't feel like SSU is one of my top Kirby games despite being considered the best by most people. And Return to Dream Land is good, but as weird as it is I think I enjoyed Epic Yarn a bit more. Probably because I played it with my best friend, haha.

Adventure, Mass Attack, Canvas Curse, Dream Land 3, Dream Course = gaming perfection.
