Anyone ever had a relative come stay with you, and they essentially try to steal your social life away?

So my nephew has been here for a few months, he is 20 and went back to finish High School. Anyways, he is not gay at all, yet somehow one of my close friends has been hanging out with him more than me, and then the other day another friend picked him up (also gay)

I feel like I'm being single white femaled <_<;

It's like I work hard and cannot afford anything, but then my friends will come pick him up and offer to pay for him. Like wtf did I do?

So... I've been doing a bit of reflection lately. Mostly because I'm always beating myself up for having like 3 friends with two of those being more acquaintances than actual friends. I've been analyzing the situation and honestly I'm just done feeling bad about it. For starters I live in a very small bordertown so LGBT+ groups or whatever are out of the question because the population here is so small as it is, the hopes of there being gays out of the closet that are willing to start up an LGBT+ group are near impossible. The other thing is that I actually really can't harmonize with that bro-ish straight macho attitude that a lot of guys here have, I'm usually quiet and not very masculine imo so being around that kind of energy drains me out lmao. However, I also don't like to be around moody, quiet people so??? How do I expect to make any friends when I get socially drained so easily and not to mention being Gay around a bunch of macho straight men?

I guess I'm just done worrying about it tbh. It's tiring to constantly force myself to try and talk to people and be disappointed when nothing comes out of it or I get tired rather quickly. I'm also a pretty judgmental asshole honestly. Like, I saw a dude drawing anime waifus in biology class and of course the universe hates me so I have to work with him for our project. Anime waifus are cool and all but do I want to work with the guy drawing waifus on his notebook or do I want to work with Shawn, the mixed tall as fuck basketball player daddy that's in that class too? I think the answer is clear.

All in all, I'm done. I might be an antisocial introverted judgmental horny gay,

Is there any way for you to move out, even temporarily? That might help alot. Would find more stuff to do, LGBT places, etc.

except without the hot guy and three friends, not anymore :S

And its ok just do the homework with the Anime guy, he may be a nice person after all.

I read about this this morning but not that it was a queer club until this evening. It was earlier described as a brothel.
A man has been arrested and charged after allegedly putting hydrochloric acid inside what is understood to be a lubricant dispenser at a gay club in Sydney's north-west.

Police said the 62-year-old man went into the Bridge Street premises in Rydalmere on Saturday, filling a dispenser inside a room with the highly corrosive acid.

The ABC understands the club in question is the Aarows club, which describes itself as "Sydney's gay and bi social club" with "three levels of adult adventure".

Items in the room had been fitted with alarms after they had previously been tampered with in a similar way, police said.

Security stopped the man before police arrested him, officers said.

Hydrochloric acid is a strong, corrosive acid which can produce burns, ulcers and scars when put into contact with skin.

At this point acts of violence (not just towards the LGBT community) happen too often to shock/surprise me. It doesn't make it any less upsetting but it's really saying a lot that we are at the point where shit like this is becoming just another occurrence. :(

Still, fuck the guy who did this.

It could have been because a planned plebiscite (like a referendum) on marriage equality is unlikely to be held and instead there would just be a parliamentary vote. Things have been stacking up in recent days against the plebiscite being held.

Some background. In the middle of last year, Tony Abbott (Prime Minister at the time) decided to hold a plebiscite in the future on whether to have marriage equality. He is against marriage equality but it was a compromise in his party room as his hold on the leadership was weak. The party can replace its leader, even when they are Prime Minister. A few months later, his party replaced him with Malcolm Turnbull, who is a bit closer to the centre. This was because they would have been destroyed at the next election otherwise. He is for marriage equality. But the policy to have a plebiscite remained the policy Turnbull took to the election in the middle of this year. He is under the thumb of the right of his party.

At the election, their party only barely won a majority: 76 out of 150 seats in the house of representatives. They had 90 at the previous election. The Senate also became more difficult for them. And this all made things for difficult for Turnbull. I understand a lot of the people in his party who lost seats were his supporters (since their seats were most at risk). There was speculation he wouldn't last as Prime Minister until the end of the year.

Back to the plebiscite. Many in the opposition party and left-wing members of parliament wouldn't vote to hold a plebiscite because it will bring out abuse/division, and it's expensive ($160m) and it's unnecessary (it's non-binding and there will need to be a parliamentary vote either way). There are also right-wing people who are against it because they don't want marriage equality and because of the cost. This means it's unlikely it will be held at all, and there will instead just be a parliamentary vote. It's especially seeming unlikely in the past few days.

So I think it is likely to have been related. Specifically frustration over not 'getting to have a say'. But it's a bit of a look into what could happen if it is held, too, when things get heated.

I've had an idea for a while, but since it's mostly a sexual thing and I'm not really romantically attracted to guys I think it's taken a while to wrap my head around, haha. And when I say "had an idea" I mean actively enjoyed looking at naked doods for a long-ass time, lol. In fact, thinking back, I'm pretty sure when I was like 5 or 6, I was into Five partially because I thought one of the guys was cute, hahaha. So yeah, not exactly something I've just discovered about myself

Thanks for the explanation Aargle. :) Sounds like things are a complete mess there, but it actually doesn't sound too far off his things went with marriage equality in the UK. David Cameron was for it but the Conservative MP's who opposed it were pretty vocal and put a lot of pressure on.

Maybe the attack was a political statement, but I think there is equal chance that it could have been a random hate crime with no motive outside of "fuck gays". Maybe we will find out eventually.

Have you checked meetup.com? It's still possible for there to already be a meetup group for lgbt people in a nearby town, or if not, start one and see how many people join
