Has anyone here seen How To Get Away With Murder last night?

That slap
giphy.gif

You can't even see it. Pretty crappy as far as slaps go.

I think I read a statistic that 20% of the LGBTQ community support Trump, but that is at least a month old. They have to be really rich or racist to support him. IDK but Pence as his running mate really should drive that number down. He's just as despicable and has actually passed laws that affect our community in a negative way.

Jesus. Like yeah, that's a low statistic, but then you think numbers and it's like holy shit. That's a lot of people. I personally, try as hard as I might, cannot comprehend why any sensible human would support Trump. But beyond that, I have an even greater mental ordeal comprehending how a person who is not straight, not white, and not male support him. The sad part is that the vast majority of these people do not have any good reasons to support him. Like there was that one gay dude on YouTube who started his video like he was coming out of the closet (but as a trump supporter lolz), and literally his only reasonings that I recall were the economy. Okay, even if Trump was the Messiah for the economy, how can a gay person be willing to sacrifice potential civil rights even for themselves? I'm of the mind that economic and civil issues are of equal importance, but perhaps I'm an outlier.

Anyway, Insecure starring new Queen on the block Issa Rae is a dope show, check it out on HBO now.

I went with my Dad to watch A Clockwork Orange in the cinema today. Beforehand we had coffee and danishes and then I drank apple cider watching it. It has been a couple of years since I saw it so I had forgotten how much of a comedy it was in parts, and seeing it with so many others helped with that. It is easy to forget that Dr Strangelove was the film before the last one. We saw so many boobies. And then afterwards a woman was walking on the road towards us as we drove and she was kinda dancing as she walked and with her top lifted up and she wasn't wearing a bra. My dad said that it was probably from drugs. It was sad. We are currently awaiting pizza in a restaurant.

We are going to see Eyes Wide Shut together tomorrow. This is probably my favourite Kubrick so I am looking forward to it even more. Then I will see The Shining the next day and then Barry Lyndon (my second favourite) and 2001 next weekend probably). But none of those with my dad but maybe Barry Lyndon since he told me during its trailer today that he liked it.

EDIT: On the menu of this restaurant is Nutella Pizza, listed as a homemade dessert.

Oh, was Kubrick's death anniversary recently? I heard a lot about him this week and there's a big article in the newspaper about his work with someone who knew him back then.

I personally love A Clockwork Orange the most out of all his work. Mainly because I already loved the book, but the way he brought it to life felt nearly perfect to me.

I also liked The Shining even though I dislike King's work. Was still a good film though because of Kubrick and the fact that the author hated it made me like it even more. :p

He died on March 7th, 1999, so there is no anniversary there.

I haven't finished reading any book that a Kubrick movie is based on. I started Lolita (I think without knowing about the movie), A Clockwork Orange and Traumnovelle (Eyes Wide Shut's Austrian base!) though. I was also given The Luck of Barry Lyndon.

The only Stephen King I have read is the first 120 pages of Rose Madder, two or three times. I loved it until magic came into it.

Also at the cinema today there was a guy who likes guys in the row behind me who expressed approval of men at a few points! eg the first shot of Frank Alexander's aide Julian.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NIJ6Ymv0MtY (the aide is David Prowse, the actor under the Darth Vader costume).

I just got drunk for the first time at the club. I was wearing these extremely tight pants and had 2 people slap my butt and this one guy came over and was like "you're extremely cute keep it up". It would have been nice if someone actually hit on me but whatever.

But I had so much fun I just grinded on my lesbian friends the entire night. I couldn't stop dancing. Also Kim Chi was there!

Huh... Was just a coincidence then that I heard a bit more about him lately and you talking here about his work. Thought I'd missed something like an anniversary.

I have an audio book of Lolita but I can't stand having things read to me. Regret that purchase.

Yeah I heard about Arthur Schnitzler's work before, and of course I know about Traumnovelle. I think I bought a Reclam edition of it before, maybe I should read it.

Prowse looked so good back then. As did McDowell in his role, even though I was a bit scared of his character in the film, heh.

Hawt af.

Be safe though.

I try my best

Only thing that sucks about this """relationship""" is that every weekend he goes away for work, meeting one time a week (2 if we are lucky) kinda sucks

But coming from someone who has been mostly alone for 25 years i guess it's a great start heh

if you are looking to watch some Stephen King there is so much to like, Carrie is a classic, Pet Sematary scared me so much as a kid and so underrated, Creepshow is a bit goofy but worth a watch, the Dead Zone is a sloow movie but very interesting,i loved the Mist for the way it plays the characters and the ending, And of course the Shining,
there is sooo much you can watch on October!

If on PC uninstall the game and sell the account and if PS4 and its physical uninstall and break the disc.

aww dont feel bad, here half of gays probably have a little trouble with confidence and social skills, im no expert (and probably never will) but i think you must go for it, smile alot, fake a bit of confidence, dont overthink anything and be playful ,enjoy and something good will come out of this even if its a compliment a fun memory or a new friend, then in no time you will feel more comfortable talking to all kind of people.

What do you mean by "how lines get approved"?

Usually there's only 2 people involved: the translator/subtitler (or both) and the Quality Control person, at least from our end. The client then does a technical QC (just confirm that everything is following the client's specifications, but it should be like that when we sent it) and, if it's a Netflix Original, it will go through one more QC at the end. We have no contact at all with this final person, though.

Timewise... depends a bit. I'd say a 90 minutes movie, assuming it doesn't have any complicated terminology, should take about 3 days to be fully translated and subtitled.

Nice! I got into a lot of j-pop singers because of anime. Koda Kumi, Ayumi Hamasaki, Angela Aki and Namie Amuro <3.

My problem with music is that I usually need to associate it with something to care about it, hence why I don't really follow bands =p

Also special mention to Porno Graffiti!

just like how the finished work is approved, who checks it or if a someone has returned a movie for a line they didnt like.but you explained very well with various QC people reviewing things from both the company and outside, thanks.
90 minutes a movie bit shorter than i thought,, even up to three days but must be lots of hard work with lots of series and movies!

The 3 days is assuming an easy movie (no fancy termimonology), an experienced translator AND professional software, which speeds up the process significantly. Professional subtitling software is mostly used to make subtitling easier and faster.

Ooh, what projects have you worked on?

Thanks =)

BoJack, Voltron, Trollhunters, Black Mirror*, Glitter Force (lol), Dawn of the Croods.... Currently working on two anime projects, but they weren't officially announced yet, so I'm keeping my mouth shut until they are =p (One is a new season for something that's already out. The other is brand new)

*only one episode, which was about a videogame too!

BoJack is hard because of the animal puns and jokes, but it's SO fun to translate I don't even care. The other were all fairly easy.

Just realised we pretty much only worked on animated originals.
I'm ok with this.

Ah, I imagine that would make things more difficult. Do you just translate the audio or do you also do the in-scene text (like the FKA Pig and Llama del Rey posters in that one episode)?

We include subtitles for relevant on-screen text, for example, say the character is reading a letter and we can read the title "Last Notice", we add a subtitle for that. BoJack has too much on-screen text to add everything, though (which is a pity, cuz a lot of it is very amusing).
