I'm fixing that now! :D

i forgive you

Haven't played Skyward Sword (I'm thinking about playing Skyward Sword though, but I'm waiting for at least a year, maybe Nintendo announces a remake for that one)

Definitely wait for a remake. The waggle wand controls suck ass.

There's probably a topic for this but as always I'll come here first just to get a general opinion. I want to buy a TV, I've been looking at 40/42". I used to have a Samsung 32" LCD TV back home which has been working flawlessly for about 4 years now.

Is Samsung still considered the best TV brand? I know Panasonic, LG and Sony seem to be pretty good as well. But my roommates have an LG TV which I think must be about a year old and it started resetting itself recently, til the point it doesn't even turn on anymore (keeps resetting itself). It seems like there are really good deals on LG sets but I'm not so sure I want to go that route now (though I know this could happen with any brand anyway). I've also seen a lot of deals on Philips TVs.

So what's your experience with TVs? Any recommendations? I don't even need it to be a Smart TV since I'll probably have my PS4 hooked up to it all the time (which I'll buy after I get the TV).

I have a Phillips and it's pretty good. Also, wait for Black Friday.

Also, best Zelda companion is Midna, no question! :p

Truth!

He is a rare exception, yeah.

Oh, and Fallout has also another great homosexual character: Veronica.

I don't use her that much though since she uses hand-to-hand combat and since I play on Hardcore she would die immediately if we were up against Cazadors or Deathclaws. :/

Yup, Veronica is also great! I wish you could wear her outfit, but sadly not. Still, at least she's the only reasonable member of the Mojave Brotherhood of Steel.

Power Fist or no Power Fist, you're fodder for the Deathclaws and Cazadores. I suppose energy weapons is best, so Gannon would be best.

Although I certainly sometimes use Raul. He makes the miserable, horrific parts of the Fallout universe funny with his sarcasm.

I don't even have a Wiimote at the moment (or that much money to spare for one) so I can't access Wii-Mode on my Wii U anyway. :/

There is a mod called Realistic Weapon Damages which makes it so that combat is a bit more balanced. So if you shoot a Deathclaw in the head with Armor Piercing .308 bullet whilest sneaking it will be dead for sure. But you, the player, will also be dead if the death claw gets near you. But that makes it all the more thrilling to hunt them, hehe.

Raul is great too, I like his repair skills and his humour. Also, he is voiced by Danny Trejo. :D

How did I not know this before!

Well, it makes sense, I suppose. Even though he'll blow people's heads off if given the right weapon, Raul is still the most peaceful character Danny Trejo has ever played. He gets even better when he gets a lovely Mexican gunslinger outfit.

And I'll have to check that mod out! Sounds very fun~ Although fighting the robotic enemies would be a nightmare. Still, Fallout's lore describes Deathclaws as being unbelievably tough regardless. Around the time of Fallout 1, they were considered by people to be death incarnate, before time made them 'just another way to die in the wasteland'. It'd be odd, killing them in one hit. Even with a really good gun.

Yao Guais are better because they're fluffy.

Just out of curiosity... Who do you prefer to side with? Definitely Mr House for me.

Urgh, people can be so inconsiderate. My housemates cancelled our plans without bothering to tell me they weren't going out till so late that I haven't had time to make new arrangements; and it's Freshers Week. Is it that hard to walk down the corridor to my room and say 'hey jsyk we're staying in make other plans'? Missing the first gay night of the academic year cus of this so I'm mad. Danny Trejo did a really good job voice-acting him in such a manner that he sounds so nice. Most of the time he plays really unlikeable death machines.

Deathclaws are tough, but taking .308 Armor Piercing bullets to the head and still being alive is unbelievable. :/

And robots are easy kills with a Riot Shotgun with 12-gauge Pulse Slug bullets, Pulse mines or grenades. There is also a perk that you can choose called Robotics Expert with which you get 25% more damage on robots and can even disable a robot when you sneak up on them successfully.

As for who I side with in the end...
House is one man, New Vegas is too much for him, he doesn't care about Freeside or anything else but the Strip really. NCR are monsters, slaughtering hundreds of tribals, annexing the Desert Rangers and so on. Caesars Legion are monsters too, slavery, misogyny, crucifixion, etcetera.

I choose Yes Man on most of my playthroughs. A human with a normal life-span is still a better option over a man in a fridge who lived for too long anyway.

At least Danny Trejo himself seems like a nice guy, I guess. :p

I generally just hit Deathclaws with a Bumper Sword, or the Blade of the West. You take a lot, but it feels good to bring down something genetically superior to you without doing it the easy way.

Sadly however, this tactic doesn't really work well against robots. So I guess I'll start using some of the more specialised ammo and grenade types instead (like the pulse stuff you mentioned).

I side with House because yes, he doesn't want to save the world and make everything lovely. He makes it clear that it wasn't his intention to do so. However, he did stop a lot of nukes hitting Vegas, and does wish for it to rise again. What his plans are in the future aren't entirely disclosed, but he genuinely seems entirely logic-based and surprisingly sensible. More sensible than, say, a pre-war mock democracy, a brutal, savage tribe of barbarians, and someone who's experience entails of getting packages to places. Sure, you can pick Yes Man and be ambitious, but your karma decides whether or not you did it for the freedom... Or the anarchy. Regardless of your karma, House still goes for order.

Besides, would you rather the NCR or, heaven forbid, the Legion over him?

And he's based on who I think is the most interesting figure of the 20th century, which may be why I'm biased towards him. Ah, well.

I don't really like these pure logical beings that lived for far too long for their own good.
House is one of those people who lost all of his empathy over the years (or maybe he never was very empathic, I should probably read up on his history).

I completely forgot that Karma worked that way, guess I have to shoot a lot of fiends to compensate for my cleptomaniac behaviour. :s

Have you tried one of the quest mods for FNV? Beyond Boulder Dome, The Inheritance, New Vegas Bounties I & II are all great mods. Niner, Russell and Willow are Companion mods with their own quests.

I admire House, but I must admit, he is far from perfect. Still better than the alternatives, IMO.

And yes, the karma was a bit messed up. It was so easy to regain it and be good. Just murdered Goodsprings? Kill absolutely everyone in the Legion to become a good, honest person again.

And no, I have only just got the game on PC~ I had it on PS3 for ages before I realised that it was a bit crap. So I got the Ultimate Edition (should have been GOTY edition) on PC, and am hoping to NOT mod it until it breaks. I like the passive mods, y'see. Although I'm still going through some of the DLC, so I'll do that before I start downloading mods. I'll keep the ones you mentioned in mind, though!

Also, I'd love another companion! Do they fit into the world naturally?

I have a Sonic & Mario Olympics code(EU) from the MK8 promotion that will probably expire really soon, totally forgot about it and never got a hard drive for my Wii U, so I'm posting it here.

A04YVTY302KV8RQ8

Someone snatch it before it expires!

I have a Phillips and it's pretty good. Also, wait for Black Friday.

I live in Mexico (and due to my current migratory situation I still don't have a debit/credit card to buy stuff online). There's a sort of mexican black friday the week before US but I'll be in the US working then so I think I'll just get it now anyway.

Thanks for the recommendation :)

I've calmed down a little and I guess I shouldn't take it personally, everyone's too tired and hungover to think properly today; it's not like they actively decided 'hey let's not tell Vegi we're staying in hahaha' or anything. But it's a little annoying. I've been watching a movie with them; not going to not socialise out of spite when it's the opposite of what I want.

And Soraan our town is to small to have like an actual gay club; we have a couple of friendly bars but every 'Tuesgay' the biggest night club in town plays lots of pop music and sells cocktails and it's basically the night to go out if you wanna dance with other gay students without having to guess who's straight. :p

That actually sounds pretty cool. Shame the area I went to college at had nothing like that at all. Damn my parents for raising me in a rural area in the South (US). D:

It is pretty cool. To make it better, on the top floor of the club they have heavy metal music on the same night so I can just wonder back and forth between picking up guys and rocking out.

Perks of living in the UK I guess. This year my birthday is a tuesday, so making plans will be easy. :D What did your collage have? You guys have a higher drinking age right so I'm guessing not bars...

The Karma system is very flawed in that aspect, yeah.

The whole Faction system is pretty good though, you can even trick people who are normally your enemies into being neutral to you. (Like Powder Gangers and so on)

Willow is just a normal girl stranded in the Mojave who got stuff robbed. Niner is a bit of a wild guy, doing Jet sometimes and taking you on a stroll through a Radscorpion infested desert just so he can get to some place up high to view the sunset. Russell is out for vengeance on another Bounty Hunter and really hates the Legion and can't stand the NCR since he was a Desert Ranger before they got annexed by them.

Also, how can you even play the game on consoles, it's so terrible looking (and crashes all the time, which you can't fix on consoles). :x

I hope to see the faction system make a return, and made a bit more important (most players were either absolutely adored or completely vilified by factions) to gameplay. Although I like how it's easier to trick the smaller factions (Powder Gangers, Boomers, etc) than it is the larger ones (NCR, Legion, etc). It makes sense, really.

I'll totally get all three of them companions. They sound like fun enough bunch~

And when you lack the money and the justification for a decent PC, the consoles are the only way. It wasn't TOO bad for me, but it was bad. Still, I had a lot of fun anyway.

I know right, the UK is way better than that sucky UK :p
Was one of those supposed to say US? Or are you saying your bit of the UK is shit?

Seriously though, my town is pretty gay friendly. We're having a pride thing in the park on Saturday and I've never been to one so I'm excited. Though I did have a leaflet through the door the other day telling me Homosexualism is a sin against Jesus, and I've never had that happen before. They're doing it when there's a bunch of new students just arrived too which is horrid; being 18 and new in town and uncertain and that comes through the door...

I'm at the part of the UK that also says it's a part of Ireland, too. They should stop worrying about independence/unitedness and start worrying about the fact that it's a racist, homophobic, bigoted, hate-filled country.

And don't worry about those Christian types. It's not exactly 'Love thy neighbour', is it? So it doesn't really count. They may be trying to 'root out' gays and stuff so they can call slurs from the safety of Facebook, but more likely than not, they're just a bunch of idiots.

Ooooh. I see. I'm in the south of the northwest of England, stones throw from the west midlands, so it's all C of E 'let the gays marry and help out with the tombola for the church fete' kinda vibe :p. I've yet to meet any actual homophobes in person at Uni and the Christians I know were complaining about the leaflets too. I'm aware I have it better than a lot of people do to be fair.

You're probably in the best part of England. The best of the norff and the best of the saaff. Anyway, few homophobes make themselves known outside of their minds. Seeing as you're in an accepting town, you're indeed having it better than most (I'm still trying this College business, although my sexuality simply doesn't enter the equation because it'd be stupid to reveal it)... You'll survive, probably. c:

Deffo the best part of England. I'm in a city with no football team which is amazing for me cus I hate football crowds. Instead we have roman ruins and amazing shopping and restaurants. I came out after a few weeks here
on my birthday, it was my present to myself
cus it felt safe to do it and it's made things so much easier than school ever was because I haven't had to be so garded.

So is your sexuality like totally secret or do you have any friends who know and stuff? If you don't mind me asking.
General.. but tomorrow is my birthday and i'm not doing anything again. I dont know I feel like its so pathetic to not be able to feel like i have enough actual friends to do something.
And it is now tomorrow in my timezone so...
HAPPY BETWEEN FIVE AND EIGHT HOURS DEPENDING ON YOUR LOCATION AND DAYLIGHT SAVINGS SYSTEM UNTIL YOUR BIRTHDAY TO YOU
NO LONGER QUITE AS
YOUNGBLADE!
Hope you have an amazing day in any way possible!

Ehh

My price bracket would be lower than that. Anyways, doesn't matter. I'm not entirely interested in anything new at the moment anyway (I'm busy trying to get a job to get some stuff with actual money).

And I think I'll get all of them. Especially Russell. He sounds like he has a good backstory~ Old enough to remember the Desert Rangers collapsing... Sounds good to me~ Also, is he half ghoul or half burnt?

Roman stuff? Sweet! And no rowdy footballers? Extra sweet.

My sexuality... Well, it's tough to describe... I am entirely open about my sexuality (I am rather confident) to my friends, and sometimes strangers who don't look completely evil (they can fuck off if they don't like it), but I couldn't risk telling it to someone with the intent of trying to get a date, or something. No way. It'd be silly. People here are often violent about that shit, and will do everything in their power to demean people like that, or worse.

It's been... Quite upsetting, really. And being Bi doesn't help one bit. On three occasions have I been chatted up by girls, and on all three I got turned away when I informed them that I was Bi. Tsk. Maybe they realised that they didn't like me, but their sudden hostility said otherwise. Ah well.

He is burnt, you will find out why over the course of his quest.
When exactly was it again that the Desert Rangers got annexed by the NCR? Maybe I really need the Fallout Character Overhaul mod so that he looks a bit older. He would look like this then:

Unfortunately, before the NCR found the Desert Rangers, Caesar's Legion found them first. They were losing until they grudgingly integrated themselves into the NCR. However, there are those who still act as Desert Rangers independent of the NCR.

And he looks pretty gritty. I'll take him and also make Legate Lanius a companion, somehow.

Yeah, towers and everything, it rocks.
And that totally sucks dude. At least you don't have to be like totally closeted I guess? But yeah, I can kinda make it obvious just be being out on a tuesday night what I'm looking for and so can anyone else which simplifies things. I'm still super nervous talking to guys but that's due to personal timidness rather than the environment.

That discrimination against bi people stuff is all to common everywhere though and it sucks. We
or they? maybe? still not sure if I count but it's how I'm identifying anyway
need more mainstream visability.

Well, I dunno. I think that lesbians seem to have it even worse than gays and bis (seriously, in the media, positive lesbian depictions are more rare than positive gay depictions and positive bi depictions, and that's saying something). But yes, bisexuality is something that a surprising amount of people can't wrap their heads around. Because you need to comprehend what it's like to be bi, and, worst of all...

Put yourself in someone else's mindset.

That's impossible for most normal people!

Anyway, it is late/early. Good morning!

But Legate Lanius is a pompous asshat. :/

The Desert Rangers, accordingly to the Fallout Wiki, ceased to exist in 2271 after signing a contract with the NCR. So he doesn't have to be too old, actually. Maybe around 40 or so.

Oh my god, you expect me to like, empathise?
And, what, consider events outside the spectrum of my own experience? I couldn't possibly!

Yeah, it's annoying. Interesting point about the lesbians, I hadn't considered that. I mean, there's Sue Perkins on the Bake Off, right, and that's pretty popular. But I can't think of many outside that.

I feel lesbian women and gay men have different issues. While lesbians don't get as much coverage gay men are typically looked more down on for being feminine. There are also bizarre rules on homophobic countries where gay sex between men is illegal, but between women it's legal (or rather not illegal...)
"Girls can wear jeans and cut their hair short, wear shirts and boots, because it's OK to be a boy, but for a boy to look like a girl is degrading, because you think that being a girl is degrading."
Edit: I guess I have to specify that I am not trying to trivialize homophobia lesbians struggle with.

One "struggle" less would be their incredibly low chance of HIV transmission. Comparatively, there's no safer sex than lesbian sex :p Gay guys have the opposite issue, with men tending to be hopeless horndogs and anal sex being the riskiest type of sex. And people still getting involved in casual unprotected sex :(
