Deadpool 2: Russell Crowe Responds to Rob Liefeld's Cable Casting Campaign



In a post on Twitter, Liefeld said to Crowe: "@russellcrowe you should read for Cable in Deadpool and X-Force. Just sayin..." to which the Oscar-winning actor (who doesn't have to "read" for a role at this point) replied: "I should read for it?"

Shortly thereafter, Liefeld apologized, telling Crowe he's a "huge fan" and that his prior tweet was "poorly worded." Crowe responded by saying, "I'm sure if @VancityReynolds [Ryan Reynolds] has any interest in that idea he'll find a way."

A few hours later, Crowe retweeted a piece of fan art depicting him as Cable to Liefeld, saying, "Hmmm... @robertliefeld thoughts?"

*Searched and didnt see any threads on this and thought it was actually pretty surprising how far Crowe went along.

no, its shooting from June 19 until September 18. Think they are still working on nailing down the script, and more importantly finding someone to play Cable.

Crowe would do a much better job than the rumored Pierce Brosnan lol but tbh I dont see either as Cable.

First Mel Bibson might be directing Suicide Squad 2, and now this lol?

After digging more into this, it sounds like Crowe was interested in playing Cable when it was first announced (also due to the massive success of the first one I assume).

Not sure who thought Pierce Brosnan was a good fit for Cable, unless he's just doing a VO or something. Russell Crowe would fit the character a lot more but I don't see Fox wanting to pay a huge amount to get him.
