Beyond spending it with people that understand and share similar values and beliefs

No amount of material things or money has brought me lasting happiness. Bought a new car and was emotionally flat 5 minutes later. It was a necessity at the time but really showed me that money can't buy happiness

All I want at this point is a good loving and understanding woman to share my life with
One that doesn't have to give time and life away for a check each month

Cause right now, it's the same ole shit each and everyday

Yeah, I'm basically using this as a journal entry
Whatever. I could go on all day about this shit

Yes life has no meaning. You make your own.

Personally I love doing creative stuff (drawing and gamedev) and I feel like that is my mission in life. I might have kids soon too.

Also spend some time with other-minded people too, to expand your horizon. Getting out of your comfort zone is vital.

Sure, the accumulation of material things alone isn't the meaning of life but say for example, you buy a sweet car which then allows you to travel to see your friends/family and also pick up hot girls that you can then plough on the back seats of said car, then you can't deny that material goods can help to enhance your life and enjoyment.

^^^ I'm happy that you were able to marry your best friend. That must feel amazing. I find a female bestie and I'll definitely keep her

At this point my focus is on leaving something behind for my kids.
Whatever I can to make their life as comfortable and stress free as possible so they can focus on the things they enjoy

Did get a lot of gratification from repairing my own car
Mess with photography

But outside of my kids security and the possibility of a soulmate I see no point

Maybe there isn't one

I've never understood why people need life to have a meaning.

Self-aware minds search for meaning in EVERYTHING. It's how we accomplish difficult tasks, assign intentionality to actions, and much more.

Without "meaning" math is just numbers. What do the number represent? How do they influence each other? That is a question of meaning.

I'll never understand why people don't try to find meaning in life :) It's the opposite of every other thought process you have on every other topic.

You can’t buy happiness. At least not in the long term.

Instead you should do something that makes you feel better about yourself on a regular base so you’re growing to see yourself as the much more valuable person you are.

Search for a hobby that gives you something, like learn to play an instrument for example, set small and achievable goals for yourself and overcome them.
From there you go a step further. Works like a dream!

I want a wife too and I am not lucky. But since my self confidence grew I feel I got a lot more attention as well.

Take it from me. I am an expert in this shit

Looking for a woman as an answer for fulfilment is the wrong strategy entirely. You need to find wholeness and happiness on your own first. Then, if you desire, find a good woman as the icing on the cake, not as the main recipe.

Give yourself a break and go with the flow. There doesn’t have to be great meaning to everything. Keep yourself fit and healthy, get one or two interesting hobbies and make an effort to be social. The rest will take care of itself.

Just wait until you realize that you dont actually exist. That's when the real show begins.

There is a clear difference between finding timed truths and spending time looking for things that aren't there rather than just living for today.

What time is it?
“The world is like a ride in an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. The ride goes up and down, around and around, it has thrills and chills, and it's very brightly colored, and it's very loud, and it's fun for a while. Many people have been on the ride a long time, and they begin to wonder, "Hey, is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us and say, "Hey, don't worry; don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride." And we … kill those people. "Shut him up! I've got a lot invested in this ride, shut him up! Look at my furrows of worry, look at my big bank account, and my family. This has to be real." It's just a ride. But we always kill the good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok … But it doesn't matter, because it's just a ride. And we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings of money. Just a simple choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.”

I'm fairly self aware, I just stop having thoughts about this subject after high school. Needed to move on in life and get a job and a house etc.

Have you thought about travelling? It does wonders to my mental health (when I can, I don't know with the pandemic thing how it is where you live, etc) but seeing new places is always a good thing for the heart and mind.

I agree that fostering personal connection is the way to go. I was happier when I was poor and had friends to hang out with every weekend. Now I have much more money but I’m constantly stressed and all I have for enjoyment is fucking video games, lol. Im getting a new car this weekend which I plan to track but that can’t start till spring; I’m hoping that can give me something else to look forward too and maybe some new friends

The answer is flow. Become a god at whatever you're obsessed about. Immerse yourself in it, so you can forget about the shitty world that we live in. All the other external things will come with it.

Meaning of life is to have kids and reproduce. It's simple.
I am 31 and wife is 30. She does not share my gaming interest but I have a great friend that does and it really helps. Playing couch coop or even coming to him with death stranding and watching him play just to see the reaction.

At the same time, he has a kid on the way and we don't want kids. So I bet I we will not see each other much.

Guys... We really don't like these fucking kids and are too selfish with our own needs. It's it wrong? My sister have 2 boys and I would go mad

"living for today" is a fast track to depression when you're older.

In my experience it's a combination of enjoying the moment (a little bit of living for today), planning for the future, and searching for the things that aren't immediately VISIBLE.

It's those things that aren't immediately visible (like a spiritual relationship with a woman or God, connecting with a son/daughter, helping family) that create deep satisfaction.

Food, cars, houses, money mean nothing after you attain them.

I'm not saying don't have a future though?

Yeah sorry, you weren't making a broad statement to that effect. I was rambling.

Just pushing back against the idea that anything temporary or physical can satisfy for more than a few weeks.

Worrying about the future from the perspective of finances is as frivolous as "living for today", because the end-game of wealth is just as empty as non-wealth.

This morning my toddler woke up screaming from a nightmare or something. I was already up. Cuddled for a bit. Put on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse...after a bit I got a kiss on the cheek and "I love you daddy"

I dunno, seems like things can be alright.

Life is simply unfair, don't you think?

The end will come but for now just try to enjoy yourself. The universe will carry on even when your bones are just dust in the wind, it's scary but that's reality.

The best reason I can come up with to have kids is to have people to look after you when you get old

When I do a career unit with my 8th graders, I tell them about my time between high school and college. I hopped from job to job for five or six years before pursuing teaching. I worked in retail, fast food, and spent the most time working at a fruit factory that provided fruit to yogurt companies. Literally, my job was watching people watch blueberries run along a conveyor belt for 8 hours a night. I was miserable due to the shear amount of boredom. Once I got my own classroom, I was so happy and making less money than at the factory. Something I tell my students is that they need to figure out what makes them happy. Whether it’s a job that gives them more time with their family or working like crazy and making good money, they have to live with their decision for a long time.

That being said, take a good look at what you want out of life and pursue it!

'life' is a made up concept. It has no meanings, no bias, no judgement, it just is. It was here long before us and will be around long after us.

Don't be a sweat, just go do shit. It doesn't matter what, just do something.
