Beyond spending it with people that understand and share similar values and beliefs

No amount of material things or money has brought me lasting happiness. Bought a new car and was emotionally flat 5 minutes later. It was a necessity at the time but really showed me that money can't buy happiness

All I want at this point is a good loving and understanding woman to share my life with
One that doesn't have to give time and life away for a check each month

Cause right now, it's the same ole shit each and everyday

Yeah, I'm basically using this as a journal entry
Whatever. I could go on all day about this shit

Talk to me
You're purpose is to procreate. To ensure that your cells live on. That's all. That's the meaning of life. Or at least, that's what I believe.

Keep grinding.

Whenever I grind I seem to get good things/opportunities put in front of me

Or just get buff and enjoy your delicious creation in the mirror to get dem synapses firing

Putting a lot of effort into my photography portfolio
Recently attended an event to take pics, got some free stuff and a discounted meal

Used to be swole back in the day before my son was born and nerves went to shit
Could hit the gym again. It's free where I stay

You create the meaning of life for yourself. Progress is the equivalent of happiness. If you make progress in your life, i.e. develop yourself, learn things, improve yourself, have new experiences which make you grow or whatever, then you will be happy and satisfied. And the best thing is, you will find your meaning of life in the process. Also develop some strong morals and principles that carry you through hard times.

If you want to live a miserable fucked up life, follow the advice of some here and fuck everything that moves and do whatever you want like live for your kids, just do parties, travel a lot and play video games all day...all these are things that come from the outside. It's fun, sometimes for a long time, but it is not going to answer your question, let alone give you a meaningful life.

By the way, you can (and maybe even should) do all this anyway, but you must improve and take care of yourself first. Things with a value that is determined from external sources should not and will never be the driving factor.

Usually the most satisfactory feeling you can find in life is not with having more and more material things like a lot of propaganda talks try to convince you but:

  • Being In peace with yourself about what you are. What are you good at. What your not good at. Sometimes you just can't changes things about yourself.

  • Being dependable by the people you care and love, and therefore being loved in return because you know you have them and they have you.

  • Happiness and life meanings lies on the most stupid and simplest things life can offer. Usually right in front you but sometimes you don't want to see them.

  • Accepting that life is chaotic and you can't control anything. But you still can decide which path you can follow.

  • You don't need to leave a mark on this world. A lot of of people who did that ended up making really bad decisions that ultimately lead to ever lasting consequences to this world.
That's how I keep pushing forward.

Just realise there are limitless variations to meaning and conversely no meaning. Your mood, friends, events, notions of self etc all bubble around at any given time for you to feel meaning or not. Meaning does not always have to be present nor does it always have to be found. Create your own meaningful experiences, relish in finding meaning, form relationships and more. There is joy and pain on occasion, both without meaning or with it.

For me I honestly don't understand a negative perspective on life, it's fucking amazing we are here and what the world is around us while being conscious enough to experience it. I tend to live in a state of curiosity and wonderment, I strive to impart the same to my kids as they grow up. Look around, there is amazing shit everywhere; you just have to learn to live in the moment and look through the lens of your mind's eye. Happiness is a choice, choose to be happy and do what makes you and others happy.

Purpose of life is to fart waking up, sip some coffee and take a big shit after. And don’t tell me that isn’t pleasurous enough because it is.

Life is a little expandable bag in your hands. You get what you put into it. It’s as base as it gets, and hopefully you (or anyone) don’t take it the wrong way. You plant a seed, and you hope it bears fruit. Sometimes it’s how you care for it, sometimes it’s the land, sometimes it’s the seed.

meaning of life is to experience it how ever you want/interpret that.

from a biological sense its to pass on your genes.

so hop to it!

It's been said already, but: humans crave making progress towards goals. Attaining those goals usually feels anti-climactic. Even if you're happy for a bit, you'll feel empty soon enough, and you'll feel the itch to move towards the next goal.

It's the process of chasing the carrot on the stick that makes the brain happy, less so the carrot itself. The carrot is good for your continued survival; the chase is good for your brain. It's probably an evolutionary thing--always be on the lookout for the next animal to take down, the next resource, the next mate. You never know when you'll run out. If you stand still, you die. Never be satisfied. And so on. The brain has evolved to shower itself with reward chemicals ("happiness") as you make progress on things.

Why do you think game mechanics are built around tons of small goals? The brain is addicted to the chase. As soon as you beat a boss, do you sit there for an hour and bask in your achievement? No--you rush right off to make progress on the next thing.

You're absolutely right, life itself has no inherent "meaning". We're just piles of molecules that happened to grow intelligent enough to even consider these questions.

But you can create meaning for yourself and people you care about.

I think it's important to note that you won't truly be happy with someone else unless you're first happy by yourself. From another angle, someone is more likely to want to share your happy life than your sad one.

Whatever it is that makes you happy, fulfilled, or even engages you more than buying a car is a good place to start.

don't force yourself to seek happiness, let it come on its own from contentment. get rid of absolute unnecessities in your life .

The only meaning of life is to dont die.

So if you find hard to die, make something to keep your serotonin and dopamin at good levels and forget about the meaning.

True, life has no meaning but to reproduce.
But does'nt that make it even better? Nothing is forcing you to do anything at all. You
are mostly free to choose your own path and even if that's just fucking hookers and snorting coke 'till you die, that's absolutely fine.

I think, as long as you don't hurt other, you are free to choose your own meaning of life bro.

Material things will not give you lasting meaning. They are temporal. Furthermore the industries that produce corporate products these days are wholly soulless. In the past perhaps you would get a nice story or moral lesson or optimism from them but even all that is gone. Just cynical consumerism that hates family God and country.

Drugs & hedonist consumerism will not give you meaning. They will destroy your mind and body. If the point of life is to not die then doing drugs would be insane. Clearly there is something past just not dying because people willingly engage in harmful behavior all the time, because it pleases them.

Animals consume things until they die. They don’t have any bigger dreams or aspirations like humans. Don’t waste your time pretending you are an unthinking animal. You would only be fooling yourself.

Seek out meaning in the things that really matter. The things you really love. Family and friends are of utmost importance. Something creative you like to do. Creating art is one of the most rewarding things you can do even though it’s a “waste of time” if you honestly think life is only about mechanically reproducing and nothing more. Turns out that there are many ways to find meaning for humans. Animals only have hunger and thirst to drive them. We humans are far more sophisticated.

However I do think there is something to raising a family traditional style. Our society ever since feminism because mainstream in the 1970s has been anti family and anti legacy. It has convinced people to not find meaning in family but instead seek it in consumerism and hedonism. Male and female are no longer partners but competitors, in the office and the bedroom. This leads to society wide alienation. Consequence free sex can be fun for the moment but does not give lasting satisfaction and is a terrible goal for a society to have.

Imo find a good woman and settle down. Have a family, raise your children. That’s the meaning of life and the fact so many have rejected it is why people are so despondent these days. But it’s more difficult than ever these days too! Thanks feminism

Don’t give up hope. Life is worth living!

Agree with many posters here, life has not meaning. You just live.
When you've found what you like to do, it could become its meaning. Or not.
Many people went insane searching meaning of life instead of doing what they want and like.

But on a universal scale live has a purpose - to fight entropy. Create something sophisticated, big, beautiful and lasting forever (and, often, completely useless, like Pyramids). Matter organized itself into complex structures, it's an integral property of matter, its our property.
