Limited Run Games - Putting digital games into your hands

Unless it's already glitching, it shows 58 copies left here.

If you put it in your cart, they're all earmarked, the old complaint about the Shopify store.

The tie version is still in stock for anyone desperate for it (who doesn't want to wait for second batch).

I thought this would sell well. Octodad is a well-known game like Oddworld was.

Yeah, thought it must be glitching already. Over 500 copies left for PS4 though, those usually take longer to sell out.

Done. Ordered both PS4 & Vita copies. The tie was tempting, but I'm short on funds this month.

So what's next?

- July 4th: Xenodrifter & Lost Sea
- July 18th: Soldner X2

Right?

These I'm a little more concerned about as not sure what my schedule will be July 4th morning. And the second batch time would be even more unlikely for me.

Did they move the "add comment to your order" box? I'm sure it was during checkout last time, but now it seems you have to add a comment while still on the "my cart" page. That sucks, as there's not enough time to do that.

Yeah PS4 version seems to still be there, Vita version is gone. Makes me very happy to that there's clearly a dedicated enough fanbase there on Vita to keep LRG going :)

I like that, because of Breach & Clear, only 1800 people worldwide will ever be able to claim they have a complete LRG collection. Those lucky 1800 (and glad to be one of them).

Or LRG are a bunch of underprinting jerks. I can't really get on board with this scheme, it's basically amiibos but more expensive and vastly worse quantities. I hope someone comes and eats their lunch producing actually acceptable quantities of games.

Is Xeodrifter not very good? That's disappointing. I liked Renegade Kid's last game.

It's a great game.

But it's about 2 hours long and was a PS+ day one game, so some people are understandably a little down on the release.

BUT it will have a full color manual with new, original art for this release, so they are going the whole way to make sure there's more value to it.

Think about this for a second:

They have no reason to be "underprinting jerks". They have incentives to increase the production runs if it would sell anyways because it would increase their profits. This is simply really hard to find the right values for, and requires a lot of upfront costs.

People have been trying to "eat their lunch" for a while, and have been there first. What they are doing is different and more limited because it works at a smaller scale and without needing shelf space.

If you would like to support their competitors, please buy Toki Tori 2+ by Sodesco. It's a really great game for $19.99, out now, and with the business model you want.

We had this discussion about 10000 times already. Please don't.

You can just read the one we had after the last release (as it happens every time), where people clearly explain the reasons for the Limited runs.

I like that we get this same shit after each and every release and it's been explained time and time again.

It's their Metroidvania and has the same production values, polish etc as Mutant Mudds from them. Many people on GAF only like a small handful of indie games when loads of them are great.

PS4 version is still in stock, so they clearly got that one right at least (maybe it's even been overprinted since there's a second batch).

Idk. I was frustrated last time too, but even though I'm miffed I'm going to have to pay £60 to someone for Oddworld, I'm still happy LRG exists at the end of the day, because I wouldn't have the opportunity to pay anything for a physical copy otherwise.

Not really a fan of how the edition with the tie is sold as a separate SKU. Feels like the people not fast enough are forced to pay $20 extra for something they potentially do not want.

It's not a limited edition, it's game + merch. I would frankly be pissed off if I found the vanilla copies sold out and was stuck having to pay $20 extra for that.

I had to pay £70 including shipping but I don't see it ever decrease in price so better to get it before it gets even more expensive. A complete collection of LRG games will be way too expensive for me so I'm just gonna focus on the ones being released from now on.

But seriously, everyone should buy Toki Tori 2+.

It's a complete no-brainer and one of the best puzzle/exploration games of the past decade or so.

I got off the Subway at 9:58 and ordered a Vita copy on my phone as I was walking into work. But the orders have always been flawless for me on Shopify, so I'm not surprised.

Since there is a lot of physical collectors here, I should let everyone know that the Ori and the Blind Forest physical package (that was recently released for Xbox One) does not even come with a disc. It's just a digital download code inside. Nothing boils my blood more than something like that. Such a wasted opportunity.

Edit: Appears to be de-bunked. Move along folks.

Yeah that't the only reason I didn't buy the Hotline Miami JP release.

I hope LRG can fix that one day

Releasing physical editions with DL codes completely misses the point

Holy shit, seriously? And to think some of us were upset that wasn't releasing in Canada :/.

Loving the art style of that game so I'll check it out. Wrong topic though? ;)

I was inspired by the guy complaining about too-limited physical games while this one just released and no one seems to care :(

What the hell. This information was completely missing from all the press releases and the conversations around here as far as I know.

How did they completely miss the mark on what people were actually asking for?

EDIT:

Looking at the Amazon reviews, this seems wrong?

Some people are getting a 2-disc package with the game and soundtrack, others have only received the soundtrack on disc (or are completely missing the fact that there's a second disc in there?).

This. I would have bought three copies for myself, but I didn't even buy one when I learned it had a dlc code.

Seriously??? I still have the game on order. :(

Yeah, didn't even think about shipping lol.

I'm not fussed about a complete collection, only the games which interest me. Sadly the games that have interested me were Breach & Clear (insanely hard to get now); Oddworld (under-printed in my opinion considering the IP) and Octodad, which luckily I got this time. Don't think I'm gonna pay out of the ear for B&C though.

It was frustrating, but I still like the box art and at least HM1 is on the cart!

Yeah, the Hotline Miami release in Japan was disappointing. I still ended up with a copy as I love the box art they used. I'm somewhat glad that at least the first game got a physical release, as that one was my favourite of the two games, but it was annoying that the second game was relegated to a slip of paper...

According to the reviews on Amazon.com, some people are apparently missing the fact that there are 2 discs in the package stacked on top of each other. One has the soundtrack and the other has the game.

I suppose a digital copy is included as well?

I just opened mine and it has a disc, I live in the US btw.

Wow, that's pretty shady if they didn't disclose this in an obvious way. And considering your warning I imagine they didn't. That sucks.

Edit. Wait, this contradicts completely what the other poster said. Is it a regional thing? Or is someone spreading FUD?

Read above, not sure where the OP lives but I have the disc right here, unless i'm missing something lol. Also got my Octodad, game looks kind of bad but whatever.

Edit: Yeah i'm not sure where the OP is from, but the US copy I ordered on Amazon does have a disc. In the event anyone is concerned about authenticity, here is what it looks like.

Are you talking about the PC release or the Xbox One release?

amazon reviews are also mixed, some say it's on a disc and some complain it isn't.

well that's clearly a xbox one game disc. no idea what's going on

Just a note, I don't have the game. I'm basing it off of reviews off of Amazon. Multiple people were saying that there is no game disc inside. Despite this, more reviewers have stated that there IS a physical disc of the game.

The summary on Amazon states: "Includes bonus material in the Definitive Edition includes a digital copy of the original game, behind the scenes videos chronicling the making of the game and much more."

But yet, in the picture with the back of the case, it mentions how the game disc takes up to 10GB of storage. So I don't even know anymore...

I'm guessing it goes something like this:

- Open box, sees soundtrack CD and a voucher for the regular edition of Ori
- Proceeds to freak out, doesn't see that the soundtrack is stacked on top of the disc for the Definitive Edition
- Posts review on Amazon

Although I have to say that stacking a soundtrack CD (not a Blu-Ray) is a terrible idea. They should have changed the packaging somehow, or put the Blu-Ray on top.
