I'm trying not to cry at my desk right now.

LP is my favorite band and I'm even wearing their fucking OML Tiger shirt at work today.

I feel sick

Wow, RIP.

He, and the rest of LP, got me through some rough times back in the early 2000s. Turning on Hybrid Theory and turning off the world was a great escape.

Wtf! This sucks. I wasn't a fan of LP's new album, but they played a big part of my teenage years. I also enjoyed his EP with STP.

RIP

Still short of speechless. They just out out an album a few months back, are actively touring...

Just so damn sad. Can't imagine what his family and bandmates are feeling right now.

Linkin Park gets a lot of shit around here and the internet in general, they're basically a 'teenage emo' meme to a bunch of people. If they helped any young people work through feelings of depression and give them an outlet for those feelings, they've done good. Mental health and suicide is one of the most alarming problems thats getting bigger and bigger. It's not a sexy right or left wing issue so its not getting the attention it needs.

I really loved his contributions to bands like STP. I was sad to see him leave the band before they recorded an LP, but his reasons to leave were understandable. He wanted to spend more time with Linkin Park and more importantly, his family. Seeing the news now, I can't help but think back to that and also how long he was thinking about doing it. Depression is invisible, yet one of the greatest threats to many people. Many condolences to his family.

That's sad to hear. I was a fan of him and Linkin Park. They were the first rock band that I really liked. So many great songs from them. He made Numb into such an epic song all by himself.

TMZ was also first to report Paul Walker's death, if I remember right.

They were. They may be the most annoying celebrity news team on the planet, but they are surprisingly very, very good at what they do, which gives me little reason to doubt the validity of this report.

TMZ is never wrong.

I know they are almost always right when it comes to this kind of news, but Linkin Park's twitter tweeted this just three hours ago:

Ugh I know I'm grasping, but I feel like they wouldn't have tweeted anything at all. I hope this is somehow not true. So heartbreaking :(

I barely listen to LP these days, but fuck I grew up listening to them, first band I trully cared about back in the day. Chester's hair in the "Crawling" video made me start to care about my own hair, using products and shit, it was that awesome.

what the fuck.....what. the. fuck.

WHAAAAAT
Not even that long after Cornell's death too, fuck :(
R.I.P.

it's very likely chester killed himself because of cornell.

the two were decently close (I've seen talk that one of them was godfather to the other's child)

today is chris' birthday
and the suicide method is the same, hanging.

chester was really sad after the loss of his friend, and while he was able to cope when it happened, the depression likely caught up with him as he realized it was his friends birthday and....

just... so fucking depressed right now.

What I've Done is my favorite song of Linkin Park's. Don't know how many times I watched the music video or listened to the song. Listening to it now.

RIP Chester

These tweets are probably made by a separate team that has no direct relation to any of the band members.

I'd love for it to not be true, but...

Whoever runs that shit probably runs about 10 bands twitter accounts, and doesn't get sensitive info like this.

If it was fake they would have came out and said it by now to stop it from spreading so fast. Everyone else is picking it up as a source as well.

This is so sad, I can't believe it. My brother went to a concert weeks ago. I saw a video of Chester singing Strangelove by Depeche Mode last month. Can't believe he's gone.

The news is less than an hour old. It's entirely possible that TMZ found out around the same time the rest of the band did.

RIP Chester :'(

I stopped liking Linkin Park like 15 years ago, but Hybrid Theory was definitely an album that changed my life - arguably the first band and album I liked outside my parents' musical influence. It was the soundtrack (for a very small while) to my teenage, hormone-fueled revolution. It kickstarted the musical journey I'm still on - and while my musical tastes have changed, LP remains an important band to me.

Listening to Hybrid Theory now. Dude had such an amazing and powerful voice. I forgot that every fucking song on this album is about depression/isolation.

well beyond that
the tweet was 3 hours ago.
3 hours ago it was before 9am in California meaning it would before the reported time that his body was found :/

i Stop being their fans long time ago, but still listen some songs from "live in texas"(one of the best Live album)

Fuckin' hell. Considering he was friends with Chris Cornell his head must've been all over the place the last few months. Fuck depression.

RIP, thanks for the music.

maybe
after all, today is cornell's birthday
