Linus poking the dragon (Nintendo) for modding

4 hours so far and it's up.

Think it will last? Maybe only Linus can poke them for telling users how to mod. A smaller youtuber wouldn't last even 5 mins. I wonder how many lawyers were consulted for the video before uploading.

Nintendo's Yakuza gonna make him vanish.

What an edgelord. If you're on the fence on getting a migswitch wait for the clones, they will be about half price and coming soon and will probably get a button. Also your console might not get banned but the game itself as they have certificates. Theory is if 2 certificates are online at the same time then both games will be banned from the Nintendo network, not the console.

I preordered a migswitch because of the hype, but haven't even opened it. I buy most of my games digitally, so it doesn't really make sense for me…

That is just an awful segway... to his suicide! That's right folks Linus decided enough was enough an offed himself.

Never change, LTT.

Also, that "[Piracy] hurts their bottom line in the short term" implies that in the long term it benefits them. Gotta love "I'm helping a company by pirating their software because I wouldn't have bought it anyways" argument.

Kinda weird doing it now when Ninty is in Berzerk mode, but whatever floats your boat. Channel will be fine but the video probably gonna get a few strikes.

lol, is this new ?

here in Brazil this is common practice, you can buy a moded wii, that ll run GC games for U$ 30/50, almost every repair shop ll mod switch too for U$ 70/100 depending on the model. Moded WiiU are harder to find since that shit sold less then ice cream in the artic.

My Wii U, New 3DS XL, and Switch are all modded. Real sick. I've installed a bunch of custom skins for Mario Kart 7 and 8, was able to mod c-stick camera control into Ocarina of Time 3D, and there are c-stick camera control mods for a whole ton of DS games, and widescreen patches too. Can't wait to replay the DS Kingdom Hearts games with those.

I'd really like to start making my own custom Mario Kart skins, but I've never used any of the tools before (not even Blender), so it'll be a difficult learning process.

Just like the leakers… rip

Linus has been a fucking idiot since his iMac Pro video like a decade ago. He posted videos showing him literally destroying the device (bending and stomping on the monitor, etc) and then posted a "Waaaah I'm a victim" video when Apple (who saw his videos) refused to fix it for free.

The Mig Switch is a shitty product, because of how it works it's almost impossible to avoid being banned by Nintendo the second you try to go online. Because it spoofs a game cart, you WILL be banned unless you vow to never use your Switch online again. It's probably cheaper to just buy a 2nd Switch which is from the first generation that can be soft-modded instead of trying to use this, getting your Switch banned, and then buying a second Switch to use online. Also because of how the Switch card slot works, you have to remove and insert the Mig Switch every time you want to change games. If this sounds like a great way to wear your card slot out, you're right!

People who had the foresight to buy a Switch during the first year after launch that can be soft-modded have always been the real winners, the other group of winners are the ones who know how solder and just buy a modchip to put into their later-gen Switch. I don't know what the fuck Linus is talking about when he's saying the first-gen Switch is "rare" they made over 15 million of them before the exploit was patched out, you can easily buy one on eBay. The Mig Switch is the worst of all worlds
