Liveblog thread for 3DS new Nintendo IP announcement (Code Name STEAM)

I don't know what I will do if Nintendo does the Mother Trilogy. 3DS is perfect for the games.

I would like a new Metroid too, they have been teasing it a lot.

But man...Mother deserves to get more people to play it. I honestly think Mother 3 is the best written game I've ever played.

Exactly my thinking, I highly doubt she owns a lifesize Majora's Mask and even if she did I don't think she would have brought it all the way to a theater during a Smash event. It's pretty obvious that Nintendo gave it to her to tease MM 3D or Majora's Mask related project.

There are a ton of UI and gameplay improvements that could make Majora a much better gaming experience. Grezzo did a great job with OOT - there's no reason they couldn't do the same for MM.

If it's Metroid Nintendo wins E3 definitively, but I can't allow myself to get burned 4 E3s in a row...
 
90 minute session?

Too long for one game. My bet it is an Amiibo tie in 3DS game, possibly Pokemon related?

I just had a thought...Majora's Mask 2. Imagine Aonuma secretly laughing inside at people clamoring for MM3D, when he has something so much better in mind. Would explain the 90 minute round table, as well as exactly why it's taken Greezo so long to get this out.

Would Nintendo really let Greezo do this with limited help from Zelda team though? Maybe they were so impressed with Ocarina they gave them the go ahead with Aonuma supervising? Maybe after ALBW was wrapping up some of those people jumped in with Greezo?

2009: Miyamoto, zomg first Zelda Wii info
2008: Focus on AC: Wild World
2007: Focus on Zelda DS



These had their roots originally at GDC, which were also Zelda focused. It'll be an upset if it isn't Zelda

As much as I would like a sequel to the greatest Zelda game, I kinda doubt it,

Majora's mask had its story and pretty much ended on a happy note. I'd love Nintendo to prove me wrong though, there's always room for more masks! :D
 
Hey, what if the panel is actually about the new Zelda for Wii U and they throw in the Majora's Mask announcement there?

Zelda U is screaming for more details and Nintendo still hasn't put up a trailer for it on their Youtube account. It'll probably be a general Zelda panel.

Wouldn't that be a pretty massive bait and switch? Of course people are excited to hear about the new Zelda U, but this event was scheduled as a 3DS unveiling.
 
How will Nintendo spend a 90 minute roundtable focused on a remake?

I'm excited to find out! I want Metroid/Mother as much as anybody else, but I'm really not expecting them. Majora's Mask is amazing, and I'm excited to see what Nintendo has (had Grezzo) do.

The last two Zelda games had their first poster unveiled at this same exact event so that'll almost certainly be the case. But I still wouldn't expect a ton of information On the Wii U side of things

-Reggie says he's gonna wear his Metroid Pin. Could be Metroid
-Nintendo made a joke about localizing Mother 3 in their Digital Event. Could be a Mother Trilogy.
-Zelda Williams brought a plush Majora's Mask on stage to the Smash Invitational today, on top of the insane amount of teasing that's been done over the last year in reference to Majora's Mask. Could be MM3D.

If it's not one of those three it's gotta be a brand new IP, which is pretty unlikely.
 
Who would develop a 3DS Metroid? EAD Tokyo is on Captain Toad duty as we found out today. And it should launch this year if it exists and is announced tomorrow, so that rules out Retro Studios.
 
Unless Itoi has had a change of heart and has been playing coi, Mother 4 is not happening, and Mother 3 remake is not getting 90 minutes.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was Metroid or maybe Pikman 3DS.

We just got a new IP today though. What's to say there isn't one in development for 3DS?
 
I'm expecting MM 3D, which is nice. However, I have been waiting years and have endured many E3 conferences/directs waiting for a Metroid Dread announcement. My heart about stopped when the Xenoblade Chronicles X trailer played because I thought it was Metroid related. Please Nintendo, stop trying to kill me and announce the game!

It's going to be Majora's Mask.

Well, none of those are real hints, but the Mother Trilogy one is especially flimsy. Are they supposed to flat-out say "nope, you're never getting a Mother game again, let alone 3, ahahahaha"? Of course they're gonna leave it hanging in the air. Only one they alluded to multiple times is indeed Zelda, that's why it's considered the likeliest of the bunch.

It's always possible it could be something completely new but we wouldn't be able to speculate about that, so no point in thinking about it.

How long were the 2011 and 2010 developer round tables?

Oh yeah I forgot about amiibos. Maybe it's a 3DS game with ambiibo figurines..? Ugh.. I hope not.
 
Majora's Mask 3D ? Metroid ? Naaaah. You guys forgot about S.T.E.A.M ?
You know, the trademarked game... there's a huge chance this is it... but also a good chance that it's as unappealing (compared to MM3D/Metroid) as the name :/
