I didn't see the cash in hand thing. Did that really happen?

I would think going towards the judges with a handful of cash would look a bit... unsettling.

So do you bribe in dollars or euros? =p

yea why was it benjamins and not some other currency

This NBC coverage is horrible, half the time they dont even show the persons score. It is really frustrating to watch.

I'm really annoyed by it. They do seem biased and its annoying. I like the football/soccer announcers but for everything else it just seems annoying.

Supposedly, its part of the inquiry process.

I heard that Chinese officials made Ye Shiwen practice swimming for many days of the week. Often in cold water. And only wearing a 泳装 (a thin suit made for swimming). I don't care if she's doping or not - she probably is - the Chinese system is evil and unfair to these athletes.

Chinese's has superior mutant technology. You can't detect for shit.

The fact that she was faster than Lochte makes me think she is doping. I just don't see how something like this could be possible.

So you think doping is the more likely scenario rather than the simple fact that Lochte had a 3.5 second lead over everybody else?

He wasn't going to break any record either so why would he swim his absolute fastest when he could benefit from saving his energy for the other events?

The fact that he was also slower than 4 other swimmers in his race, including more than a second slower than the #6 guy on his last leg should tell you something.

damn that inquiry. If I were Ukraine, I'd feel so shafted.

Wait, what actually worked? I'm not sure if that's good or not.

From what I understand, Japan put in an inquiry that the last competitor had gone from an handstand to a plant. The refs/judges overlooked it and had agreed to it so they gave Japan points, which bumped GB to a Bronze and Ukraine got pushed out.

This olympics has been filled with controversial judges decisions.

Russian winning over Mongolian in bullshit decision in Judo, I believe there was another controversial decision in female judo tournament in first day, which the female judoka threw a fit. Korean swimmer getting DQed over nothing, bullshit decision in fencing, etc...

We are only in Day 3 of olympics and yet, so many controversies.

UK olympics has been a step backwards compared to Beijing 2008 so far.

Shame.

Fencing drama today was delicious.

Agreed Soyongdori

Also the fencing ruling was probably the worst Ive seen so far. They fucked it up for the girl and caused her to lose because they couldn't control the clock.

Can only imagine how Track and Field will be.

Track and Field is pretty cut and dry. Few ways for officials to screw it up.

Ya, they seemed pretty on top of it to begin but now there's so many times they show no score with the gymnastics, it loses so much by not knowing how they are stacking up to each other as the event goes on.

The decision was the most ridiculous thing I have heard. Far from being delicious, it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Oh, I mean, the comments in the thread during that dispute were some of the most entertaining things I got from this Olympic games so far. I did not think it was fair (even though I was rooting for the opponent).

A crazy ass ending straight out of Nichijoh. NBC tricking the fanbase. No CHOADE Man. Phelps ready to become immortal. More NBC fails than successes. Old Men Love Soap Opera and Broadway.

The british commentators for mens gymnastics were so happy and sure that GB were the silver medalist. Feel bad for them.

I'm sure it would have happened anywhere if the host country got bumped down, but I thought the British booing when they announced the inquiry change was rude.

Korean competitor in the lead with 1 second on the clock, almost assuring the korean a victory. Clock got stuck, the german took advantage and scored points with the timer stuck, and the judges gave the german the win.

That is straight wrong. I hope more is made of this and the judges shamed.

As for Phelps, he had an interesting moment of his own Monday, admitting he tried to peek up at the scoreboard halfway through his 200 fly semifinal heat to see his split.

"That's not really like me," he said. "But I knew we were all together."

Phelps said his goal was to swim a "controlled race." He won his heat with a time of 1:54.53 and will be seeded fourth for Tuesday night's final. American teammate Tyler Clary's time of 1:54.93 has him seeded fifth.

"I'm fine with that," Phelps said. "Some of these guys close really well. I just wanted to set myself up [to not be] in Lane 8, move myself to the middle."
Lol wtf Phelps.

Why is Japan over Italy in NBC's Medal Count? lol they are still doing total medals instead of gold > silver > bronze? lololol

I don't see why it matters one way or the other. I personally prefer the medal total.

I mean do you really think Kazakhstan with 2 golds only should be ahead of Japan with 11 medals?
