Edit: Beijing 2008 had its share of controversies too...

The night time version of this thread just needs a welcome to last week every night :p
Awwww... lol.

Let's see, what's on today...
Women's football: Canada's gonna be playing some football. North Korea's going up against the US as well.
Men's Fencing, which oughta be fun given today's (well, yesterday's now...) events.
Judo's always fun to watch.
Women's 200m Freestyle Final
Men's 200m Butterfly Final
Women's 200m Individual Medley Final
Men's 4x200m Freestyle Relay Final
Men's 69kg (just because there's another North Korean weightlifter participating)

Well, that's what I'm watching later. Man, that's a lot of stuff to watch...

That is straight wrong. I hope more is made of this and the judges shamed.

Its a bit more complicated if some of the other reports are to be believed. The real time was something like 1.95, but the clock on the field only showed 1. So when bout started, it was an unusually long second, with the german point hitting at like .100 before time ran out. That is why the ruling stood despite the super long and multilevel appeal.

Its a super shitty situation, regardless and heartbreaking to see her there. I was gripped to the stream during the situation. They were even playing dramatic music during the whole thing.

Its fishy because she out swam Lochte in last 50. She beat her own person best by 5 seconds (massive) etc.

My personal opinion. Going to assume it was a perfectly legit win because at this time there is no evidence to suggest otherwise.

Lochte was also slower than 4 other guys in his race in the last 50. He had a 3+s lead going in. He was saving energy. Simple as that.

Hahaha. It's hilarious watching you guys react and talk about shit that happened 10 hours ago.
There's nothing wrong with it, of course. It's just that I've been conditioned for over a decade to expect that Internet = instant (even before social media).

Me too.

I was kind of pissed in 08 with Chinese 'girls' gymnast controversy, but for this i feel nothing.

What's the disadvantage of Lane 8? Is it just because you can't see the pack well?

I think it has to do with swimming's version of drifting. The fastest swimmers swim in the middle. Being in someone's wake lessens water resistance and makes it easier to swim faster.

That's my guess though. It's after midnight here, takes too many brain cells to confirm it with the Internet

Are any of those controversial Chinese gymnast girls back this time?

They looked a bit young but sometimes people just look younger than they are.

US having somewhat of a sub-par Olympics so far. UK is just LOL.

They were discarded after the 08 games, new ones were breed afterwards and they should be ready in time for the 2014 games.

NBC is such bullshit.

They have FIVE different channels that they can show the Olympics on, and at like 8 PM Central time they had just the one channel showing anything from the Olympics. Even the channel literally called THE NBC SPORTS NETWORK was showing fucking random poker.

I'm gonna jump over to the BBC stream as soon as I can. NBC is a fucking joke. They can't lose their exclusive rights fast enough.

A Gaffer said that they're all the same ones as 2008, so they're 4 years older and not the favorites compared to the younger US who are 16-17. I'm not sure if that's really the case, I don't follow the sport.

I thought those plastic lane things were supposed to prevent that.

Deng Linlin and He Kexin are the only returning athletes from the 2008 team. They are both 20 years old now.

Huang Qiushuang and Sui Lu (both 20), and Yao Jinnan (17), are new to the Olympic Games.

What do you guys mean the clock got stuck? Did it actually freeze for a couple of seconds? That is bullshit if true. I saw pictures of the woman and man she was completely destroyed.

ESPN got No Balls. Thats why everybody complaining about NBC so bad is because ESPN needs to be the world wide leader and NOTHING from them. They lost there fucking superstar females and they have the creator of CHODE doing NFL games.

But Novid - They did well in the World Cup... and they lost it to FOX.

But Novid - they got Wemby rights cause of HD - They could have gotten the games too for the same type of money

But Novid, they still got superstars - when they been in the game for 20 years or more...

NBC is the best choice of a very weak American Sports TV production landscape. The GFX is not inspired. HD cameras and no rememberance of the legends like Frank Chirkinian and Joe Asisi who worked with ABC during the 70's and in the 80's with those new sony (at the time) cameras showing the faces of these men and the Miricles they made. Thats the real fucking tragady.

all they want to be is the world wide leader of american football....lets be honest here.

China seems to take these games to heart and more seriously than the US imo

The early events are more to China's strength, except it looks like North Korea has emerged as a weightlifting heavyweight. US is expected to get a very big haul in Track and Field, at least 20-30 just from those events.

See, this why Cable is going to die. Not because the Tax. It was going to be there. ITS the way the tax has been used. Football above all else. And there not the best at it.

Let's wait and see if China has some surprises here, I know typically they aren't that great here, but they have been gaining in many events they weren't that good in before.

Is that Bolt guy still the favorite in 100 meter? That guy was hilarious. How much did Nike pay him to pimp the shoes?

That race is going to be a mad house as long as there is no wind. I expect a very low time (between 9.10 and 9.30) which means they would reach at at least 32 miles per hour.

Bolt is endorsed by Puma. He may or may not have an injury. He was beaten by another Jamaican this year in their qualifications.

These are stupid accusations. They're all getting tested and if she is juicing is going to come out. Sour grapes from the Americans.

Bond meets Olympics, part deux.

Getting caught up with archery from earlier today - Miki Kanie is so fun to watch, and she just destroyed the competition with all the 10's she was raining down.

The one from Japan? She was flopping during the team round. :lol

But she was hysterical, always with a smile.
