The one from Japan? She was flopping during the team round. :lol

But she was hysterical, always with a smile.

She is on a path of (happy) destruction in the individuals; she's already past the round of 32, where she beat the Chinese archer (Jing Xu) in 3 straight with a 29/28/28.

@Rileyy_69 - that's his account.

He's deleted a few aimed at Tom Daley where he said he'd kill him, he'd drown him etc and more. Probably screen grabs somewhere.

Eh. If the arrested everyone who said those types of things on the internet........

If thats what he said I have no sympathy for him though.

I'm well aware of that, I'm shocked so many people would leave when Team GB are on.

It's not just Earl's Court either, the Aquatics centre, Wimbledon, all the venues seem to have loads of empty seats, just adds more fuel to all the ticket sales controversy.

BBC iPlayer. Nothing better, everything live and everything on archive :)

Theyre mostly seats reserved for IOC members and sport governing bodies (eg FINA for swimming). In early rounds they often don't attend because of 'other duties' (I.e can't be arsed) but they'll be there for the finals. Seats are still block reserved regardless which is a bit silly. I think they are looking to release some now which is good

I'm actually thinking about starting archery myself. It's so captivating to watch.

I am going to. Did some research and it seems like the Samick Sage is a great affordable recurve bow. Less than 130 US and made in Korea. Which seems to be a good thing with archery.

Go for it, it's a lot of fun. Don't spend a ton on equipment at first, and don't be in a rush to get high poundage limbs. My store has a limb exchange program which is really good - you buy a simple set of limbs (the arms of the bow) and can exchange them for free every 6 months, as you get more practice and need higher poundage, so you can work your way up. Then when you're stable you can just keep them or buy better limbs at your preferred weight.

It is a lot of fun to do. I did it for a few months. Stopped because the time of training wasn't good for me. Still miss it though. Might pick it up again one day.

So ONLY the chinese know how to mask?

If they get caught doping, they're doping and it's entirely unsurprising. If they don't, they're masking and it's entirely unsurprising...

I really hope a 16-year girl just starting her career is not doping... That would be a shame. For now I'll just choose to believe that she did a great job of swimming the last 50 meters, the comparisons to the men's time are unfair because Lochte had a good advantage at that time.

Its completely possible she wouldn't even know. That was common in the soviet era.

(Not saying same didn't happen in US. Its pretty clear that it was systemic in Soviet countries as opposed to the US)

Dreamed if you do, damned if you don't :/

Having read that article about how the Chinese are approaching training, I'd like to think they're not likely to dope for results.

Thanks guys, I was just wondering because the dutch coverage is showing tons of livestreams, but apparently none of them are archery.

Sucks, because it's one of my favorite events to watch.

Today I have tickets to see Boxing and Table Tennis. After going to see boxing last night I kind of wish I had something else to see in the afternoon but I can't complain. Anyway, a few highlights from last night:

Like I said in my last post, it doesn't hit you just how global the Olympics is until you visit the host city during the games. Streets and transport stations are packed with people from all corners of the globe. At the event, there were teo big crowds from Kazakhstan at opposite ends of ringside making their presence felt throughout the show. There were also chunks of fans from France, Thailand, Cuba, Japan, Belgium and Nicaragua there to support their boxers while athletes and staff from places like Ireland and Jamaica also attended.

During Thailand's fight, there was one of their supporters in the crowd wearing a rudiculous costume. It was dark so at first I thought he was dressed as Captain America. Turns out he was wearing a sash and a helmet with mini Thai flags sticking out. In one hand he was holding a paper clapper and in the other a parasol, all in the Thai flag colours. In between rounds he was making a lot of noise with the clapper while twirling around the parasol. He got a few cheers when people noticed him and he even rallied them to support his boxer.

My favourite moment was the penultimate fight between Montenegro and Nicaragua. There was a bunch of Montenegro fans who sang to the tune of "Go West" by the Pet Shop Boys (soccer fans might recognise the tune from when fans sing the lyrics "Stand up if you love/hate X"). They were all holding up a shoe while they were singing. The fight itself was one sided in the first round. Montenegro winning 5-2. Then in the 2nd round, Bravo (the Nicaragura boxer's name) fought back and began winning over the crowd. When the score became tied after 2 rounds the crowd came alive cheering for Bravo as he fought his best in the final round. The loudest cheer of the night was when he was announced as the winner.

There were times when the crowd didn't know anything about either boxer in a fight, so they supported the guy with the better name, like Duke from Ghana. The last fight was Germany Vs Cameroon. Obviously given the location, Cameroon got everyone's support but was beaten rather easily.

So yeah, one day in and it's already a fantastic experience. I wish it was easier to sort out tickets as I would love to enter the Olympic Park or trade this afternoon's boxing session for something else. I'll try and keep you lot updated if I find anything very interesting.

This Russian woman in Archery right now did three 10s in a row. The last arrow nearly landed in the same place as the second.

Edit: oh, she's choking.

(Archery)

These replays that remind us the distance the target is and the trajectory the arrow makes (and how it wobbles mid-flight) are amazing. Impressive sport; I'd love to try it one day.

women's hockey has been entertaining this morning. Looking like the Netherlands were going to run away with it but Japan have fought back and it's now 3-2 to the Netherlands.

Just under 4 minutes left to play.
