ENTERING INTO OF THE PRIVATIZATION EXCLUSIVITY AGREEMENT

The Board announces that on 10 July 2020 (before trading hours), Mr. Yuk and the Company entered into an exclusivity agreement (the "Privatization Exclusivity Agreement") with Tencent Mobility Limited (the "Potential Acquiror"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tencent Holdings Limited, a company whose shares are listed on the Stock Exchange (stock code: 700), regarding a possible acquisition and privatization of the Company (the "Possible Privatization").

I know you are probably right. It sucks. You mite as well consider these developers gone at this point

I mean, I am disappointed that Tencent keeps getting bigger and bigger but much hyperbole?

So far Tencent's policy has been to give its western devs a lot of autonomy. Chances are for these studios business will continue as usual.

This is how the Chinese operate, they buy their way in and then when established they make the demands and changes. Manufactiuring, electronics and tech and movies have all followed the same path. Gaming will be no different.

That doesn't surprise me one bit. A Chinese gaming company that monopolizes the industry in China buys yet another Chinese gaming company with quite a few notable IPs.

Seems like everything will be finalised by July 13.
At the request of the Company, trading in the Shares on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange was halted with effect from 9:00 a.m. on 10 July 2020 pending the release of this announcement. An application has been made by the Company to the Stock Exchange for the resumption of trading in the Shares on the Stock Exchange with effect from 9:00 a.m. on 13 July 2020.

Are you taking about Chinese companies or Google/Amazon/Microsoft using a position of monopoly and a never ending supply of money to embrace, extend, and extinguish another market once conquered?

Not to derail but lets be honest, no phone respects the users privacy. Apple and Google both

Mmh.. debatable, it may be pretending or doing it because their niche demands it, but there seem to be clear differences between the two in approaches and tech deployed (third party trackers banner from apps also targeting kids for example, forcing unique identifiable data to be opt in for users not opt out / recent IDFA changes, private/hidden real IP on public networks, etc...) with quite a lot of apps managed and shipped.

They are gobbling up big chunks of the market. Somebody needs to be keeping their eyes on them.

Suddenly I am noticing people normally very jolly when thinking about MS's bottomless pockets (never fully opened just for the gaming sector) being a bit concerned when another company buys their way in with a seemingly bigger and bigger check book dedicated to the gaming industry that could be one day a bigger checkbook than the one they were championing before ;).

I've never been jolly about anyone buying companies or consolidation of the industry.

I'd prefer there were more games for everyone, and have never changed my stance on it.

You are projecting something that isn't there.

I was not really calling you out, you just made me think of a funny thing while the world is burning a bit hence I quoted it :).

Seems this is only fine if it's an american corporation....
Imo if we go there USA needs to be ban too where i live.
I don't need one cultural colonialism over an other.
The funny thing being China learnt the rules and is now only beating USA at their own game

good example of what happen when you are so much into warring that you totally miss the point and worries expressed here and create warring narrative from a situation

Oh no, I get the point and worries, but that is the thing about unbalanced capitalism with growing government blessed monopolies unfortunately... at some point it has made fools of us all and that was my point (do you think SEGA enjoyed SCE shifting all the R&D and losses on Sony Electronics checkbook and using that to outspend them?).

As you said this is another solid and rising country where it's companies are ready to take the game that some American and EU corporations took a d now beating them at their own game, not dissimilar from the Japanese US takeover of the 80's just financed by a more solid and less debt backed economy.

Imo unlike your reading suggest there is more nationalism behind that than fanaticism, at least on their hand.

Perhaps, but it could be a bit of both? Still, it is hard to distinguish, it is the same core tribal feeling.

epic games hostile takeover when?

also where we are at it they could buy larger shares in activision and make new gaming console

nationalism or occidentalism is by far the reason expressed in thread but we can always choose one not really expressed in the thread.
they are probably lying relying on those arguments to hide their true intent to see sony gone !

Apple does a really good job at helping protect user privacy. Of course I can't prove with absolute certainty they aren't secretly stealing/selling information but you can't necessarily prove that they are either. Apple has been moving a lot things that would require using PII or just personal files qne making sure it all happens on-device; whereas, Microsoft and other companies often say that it needs to be sent to them because they processed by their servers They offer unique security features such as their cool disposable anonymous email feature. They have spent the last few years giving you control on how your apps can try to track you. They have a anti-tracking and other privacy features baked into their browser. They announced a bunch of new privacy features for the upcoming update. They are in the news a handful of times for refusing to add backdoors or helping the government unlock iPhones. Apple makes so much money from charging people an arm and a leg and taking a cut of all IAP and App Store purchases that they don't really need to worry about selling your data and can use privacy as a selling point over other platforms.

Hehe, not expressed so far. Did not know the thread was created to showcase the dangers of nationalism or unfettered global capitalism. World becoming a battleground of fewer bigger monopolies with government backing us concerning... I was just pointing out a bit I found interestingly and maybe morbidly laughable about this and the myth of bottomless wallets/pockets and so on. Only great when your side (this is still the gaming forum not Poli-GAF / OT btw).

Agreed. For the most part Apple has a relatively small niche which is very very profitable and people in their 360° ecosystem make them tons of money through very high margins HW and services.

A lot of people have a perception of this ecosystem to be safe, working from device to device seamlessly, and of Apple being a staunch defender of user privacy and the environment.

Does Apple's board really really cares that deeply about those values? Maybe, maybe not... it does not matter, they became part of their USP's, they could lose billions and billions if the public perceptions changed drastically on those. So they need to act on things that end up being aligned to my interests mostly, etc...

Seems obvious the thread was created to hurt people like you because sony will not win this buyout.
But in the end, lot of people in the thread are not happy because it's tencent who will win it.
Opinions in this case are a lot political even if it's gaming thread, it can happen.

They own Splash Damage who made Gears Tactics.

And?

Have you played it? It's an Xcom clone. Don't get me wrong, it's a very well made Xcom clone and probably one of the best ones in recent times, but it's not like they've come up with some unique ground breaking concept that means the studio is deserving of reverence to a degree that anyone will be fussed either way about them being acquired.

They've not exactly had a history of coming up with unique new IP or unique new concepts.

Haha, I did not care about Sony buying them out or not (none of the existing console makers won either), but would not be surprised if console warring factors may be part of the OP's intention or not. People like you, oh dear ;).
