Btw... I am about to eat so can't scroll up to find them, but some posters were saying that Faramir was tempted or something by the One Ring... It was Boromir, not Faramir. In the movies (don't know about the books), Faramir wasn't tempted by it. At least not like most who get tempted by the Ring.
They both were tempted. Faramir just slightly

Tar-Miriel on the battlefield? of course, they do. Ahaha I do hope "newcomers" will fall in love with the books later on.

omg this is so fuckin exciting...

"Fortunately, Númenor also has hopeful allies, like the sea-faring Elendil (Lloyd Owen) and his son Isildur (Maxim Baldry). The young Isildur is Aragorn's direct ancestor, and fans know he will grow up to face off against Sauron, slicing the ring off the enemy's hand. But for now, he's just a young sailor trying to find his place in Middle-earth. "You know where he goes, but how does he get there?" Baldry offers. "That's what is exciting about this show: You see Isildur as a young man at a crossroads."

beautiful horses and scenery, great costumes that arent overdone and feel very tolkien fantasy-esque...

i cant believe we are only a month and a half out from this

who ever wrote that article needs to work on their creative writing skills tho. my god it was so corny lol. so many lotr references slammed in there but very poorly done, like they were written by a high school teenager trying to get an A in their writing class

i really want to wait until i watch it before judging it but these images aren't doing it any favours. it looks like cheap trash and seems like it's going to be another Wheel of Time failure.

the only character/actor i recognise and find interesting is Galadriel/Morfydd Clark.

i hope i eat my words but i'm finding it hard to get excited about this right now :(

Teaser looks good, the New Zealand Tourist Department must be proud. Just missing Baelin walking around with his fishing rod.

Finally a trailer of the newest teaser that was teased by the old teaser.

The effects look great, but half of the cast looks a bit off, I am skeptical if they got the acting to handle this. And it's gonna be hard to sell people on warrior Galadriel, it looks so bizarre.

Gotta see it first, but it's gonna be a miracle if they pull this off.

“Taking a dump on Tolkien’s work” is a gross exaggeration, but you do you

Matter of opinion. Same way I think the Hobbit trilogy and the Shadow of Mordor/War games treated Tolkien's life work with disrespect.

You clearly disagree, but you do you.

Nice to see someone familiar with Tolkien and not screaming about how Tolkien is spinning in his grave because of brown people in the show.

I have other concerns that might sound weird. For example, I hope they don't focus on the hobbits too much. They're supposed to be obscure until the Lord of the Rings. It is because of their unimportance that Sauron (or anyone really, besides Gandalf) didn't take them seriously, which allowed the ring to be destroyed. Their story is going to have to be so detached from the action of the other stories that it will feel... unnecessary? That or it won't make sense

Stuff like warrior Galadriel... eh. I'm not a fan, because I think it paints a very shallow view of what it means to be a "strong" woman (meaning that they must be as accomplished warriors as men). And I don't think that is true. But w/e. I don't think it's ruining. Just misinformed.

I'm super looking forward to seeing Numenor, Valinor, and Lindon. Gil-Galad's casting seems perfect and I've been wanting to see him on screen for a LONG time.

It's amazing how selective you are with all of this culture war nonsense, depending if you like the franchises/IPs or not.

Just like eowyn, fucking Peter Jackson
I remember people specifically bitching at the time, about the water scene with the horses where Arwen was not supposed to be physically there. Amongst other things.

The internet was not as open to the masses as it is today.

Nah I pointed this out in the other thread in great detail, but people said it was full of shit and the movies were universally loved by everyone and no one complained about them.

Fortunately I think I was too young to give a fuck about random people's opinion. I think I still am.

If you (not you, DeepEnigma DeepEnigma ) don't like it (just like you don't like a 70 quid price tag, cloud streaming, remakes, series s), I would suggest that you vote with your wallet and move the f*?# on but ehh.

People either were too young, or don't remember what it was like back then. It wasn't as open forum as it was today, but the first thing I heard leaving the theater were some people nitpicking the inconsistencies for the on screen adaptation. Also heard it all through college LAN parties, and internet forums when they started becoming a thing. Overall, yes, they were liked, but people still complained.

It personally didn't bother me so much, but I wasn't so hardcore invested as others.

My point was that people are screaming how this is fan fiction, when it's no more fan fiction than Jackson completely inventing a role for Arwen in the trilogy in order to completely change Aragorn's character from what it was in the book. And Arwen wasn't the only character they changed like that. But people decide to ignore that while complaining about this.

We will have to see how that creativity transpires with Prime. Their deleted "super fans" video does not inspire confidence, but we shall see. There is a very clear cultural element in the past decade that can't be ignored, and left for some creatively bankrupt story writing by committee and shoehorned checkboxes.
