Yes, Locke was at the same time the mechanism that ended Jacob life but gave Jack the final blow that made him realize that it the world wasn't his place.
 
Has anybody watched the lostathon of 3 guys watching every episode of lost without stopping the last few days.

They are about to go into the Guiness World Record books, but they hardly even watch the screen, they are usually looking elsewhere. I know they are obviously very tired but still

Yep, I always thought it was basically bad blood (relatively-speaking) between AAA and the rest. That makes by far the most sense as well.

Though he did note in an interview that he would've been up for coming back, and that he had "such a great time" on the show, but that obviously could have just been BS:

You're lowering your expectations so when Jacob's statue thing is rebuilt by Jackobe, and the shadow of the statue hits Locke's grave and he rises, walks in slow motion straight to the gold tunnel, and makes himself a smoke monster so both Locke and unLocke smoke monster can battle it out for an hour, you'll wet yourself.

Oh, Ive always "gotten it", but hated it. Like I said, Im starting to come around to it some more. I mean, Jack is the lead character, so he was always going to be the main player, but that he wouldnt know how to wipe his ass if not for Locke teaching him the ways of the force is really starting to hit home. Im starting to buy it.
 
How I feel about the series as a whole will be almost completely based on my opinion of tonight's episode.

...Not true at all. I'm just going to enjoy the ride. I'll always be glad for Lost. Even during the extended periods when I didn't like it much, I've always loved reading about it and discussing it on boards like GAF. So, it's been a great six seasons.
 
So, about Jack coming back to the island.
Why did Faraday tell him that he wasn't supposed to come back? Was it because of the bomb or something?

There's a key difference between Jack and Locke. Jack has real evidence funding his transformation. He only became a total island fanboy when he saw the Lighthouse, and realised that they had been followed and they were important, and they were brought there for a reason. Before then, he thought he'd made a mistake coming back.

Locke wanted to be something he could never be, and that desire would drive him to see things that weren't there. Jack didn't need validation.

Yea the fact that they've built up to Jack accepting the torch in such an obvious and direct way worries me about his fate. LOST isn't about predictability.

I have a question... I was watching Lost last night on ABC and they aired the episode where Jack has his appendix removed by Juliet. In that episode's flash forward Jack visits Charlie in the mental hospital because he was refusing to take his meds. Hurley tells him that Charlie visited him and that he left a message for Jack about how Jack isn't supposed to take of Aaron, which ends up agitating Jack. He also tells Jack that someone is going to visit him. Now, all along I always thought it was really Charlie's ghost that visited Hurley, but later in that episode Jack hears a fire alarm going off near his office and when he goes to investigate he finds Chrisitan on a couch. So, my question is was that the smoke monster? I thought he couldn't get off the island.

Also, we all know that the smoke monster can shapeshift into people, but what about the cabin that would appear and disappear with Claire in it?

Locke was paralyzed, crashed on the Island, and could walk. A couple days later he stared down the eye of a giant pillar of smoke and saw the light of creation.


Jack saw a Lighthouse that gave himself an even more inflated sense of ego.

Jacob told the candidates that he brought them to the island because they were all flawed. What exactly was Hurley's flaw? That he liked chicken? Everyone fucking likes chicken. Jacob just wanted someone for comic relief.

Something's definitely up with Christian. Smokey isn't telling the whole truth. They've been alluding to the importance of his missing body again all season, and they've finally found the casket just in time for the series finale :D

The one I don't get is that Claire appeared to Kate in her room with Aaron (which supported the idea that she died with the merc invasion).
 
Now, I dont want to give anyone the wrong idea here. While I think I may have come to accept what they did with Locke and its importance to everything, Im STILL wanting him to save the day tonight. I mean, how awesome would Star Wars have been if, during the fight with Vader and Palpatine, Obi Wan appeared and kicked some ass? :D

Jacob needed Richard like Jack will need Hurley. The protector-douche of the Island needs a people person around so that he can actually have followers.

This is probably the worst season of Lost. I'm excited for the finale but at the same time know most things won't be answered.

As far as I'm concerned, Lost died with Locke

Of course, they'd have no choice but to follow Hurley. No one can escape his gravitational pull.
 
I'm still betting that the final scene of the show is Jack and Locke (Ghost Locke or Locke X work too) sitting on a beach, mirroring the opening scene of The Incident. Only instead of talking about killing eachother, they are at peace.

But that just seems TOO obvious, TOO predictable, TOO fitting, so Im guessing they will go in a completely different direction.
