Is he your alt, Spotless? It would explain so much ;) But then, so would The Storyteller being your alt....
LOL. I wish. I admire Erigu's tenacity to pull apart plot points i have long since forgotten (and don't care to remember). I haven't had my fill of Lost bitterness in a while. It's satisfying.

The original Erigu.
Aww. That's quite the compliment. Thank you! :D

So you've finally seen the light Solo. Maybe your opinions will stop bugging me now.

Never!

Tami went from awesomely endearing to kind of annoying and self-righteous over the course of FNL

Tami and Roslin badmouthing? Oh, you are playing with fire, man.

I bet if Roslin were male there would be endless .gifs of how totally BOSS and amazingly badass she is. She would kick Locke's ass (out of an airlock) anyday.

Man, it really sucks that when Lost was on the air, I could never participate in the discussion but now that I can post, there are never any good posts whenever I see the thread has been bumped.

Even though Lost is my favorite show of all time, I can see the flaws in the series that are always being discussed here but I guess it just irks me because I feel like I missed out on an era, being able to discuss the show week by week with you guys.

Well, now now that's quite mean. My posts on this page have extremely well thought out reasoned responses. And I think you missed this thought provoking post at the bottom of the last page:

I mean that's some quality shit right there. Discuss.

Indeed.

Yeah, I felt the same during most of the show, since I first saw the whole show inbetween Season 5 and half of Season 6 aired.

But maybe that is a reason I like the show so much, there was no chance to start believing in my own fan theories so much that I would be absolutely offended if it ended up not being the way I predicted it to be.

It really is weird spending so long disliking something and telling us over and over for months
Guess I take my storytelling somewhat seriously.

tearing apart any conversation between fans.
Cry me a river.
You could just ignore me, and I'm not sure how I could actually prevent you from having conversations.
Point is, it's just negative criticism. Learn to deal.

It's weird that you even watched hundreds of episodes of a show that you dislike so much.
"Hundreds", really? It was a bit more than a hundred. Over six years.
And I enjoyed making fun of it, thanks. But please disregard that as usual.

Sure, I spend quite a bit of time on GAF. But I spend it reading about and discussing things I am passionate about.
And I'm passionate about the issue at hand (bad storytelling, dishonest writers). Can't you tell?

Very, very little of my time is spent going into a thread for something I dislike to say "I didn't like this, here's why" and if I do, I'll leave it at that one interaction. Most things I dislike I just scroll past the threads avoiding even looking into them.
That's fascinating. Guess we're different, then. I certainly didn't see that one coming.

it isn't because you dislike it, which is fine, it's because you persistently dislike it for so long
And that's not fine. Got it.
(does that mean people shouldn't persistently like the show for so long either?)

What blows my mind about Erigu, outside of his dedication to tearing down LOST putting my dedication to riling up Chris Nolan fanboys to shame, is that he only has 1017 posts. What are the odds that 950+ are LOST related?

You get the difference though, right?

Eating a delicious ovenbaked ham more than once because it's delicious and it has that great ovenbaked flavor.

vs.

Sticking your hand on the stove above that oven again and again because you know it hurts a lot.

Erigu is my guilty pleasure. Can't get enough. <3

Well, that one never gets old. Remember how I said I had a lot of fun watching this trainwreck? Apparently not, huh? But I would imagine those memory lapses of yours helped a lot with your enjoyment of the show. It all makes sense.

Come on, that's just weird!! Keep up with the discussion!

Always nice to see a Lost thread bump brings all of the old gang back together, even though there is literally nothing left to discuss that would change anyone's minds. It's like a family reunion. :)

Nice try.

You're reliving something you hate. My assessment is correct in this instance.

I don't begrudge you your particular taste in pastimes, but it's fair to say it doesn't make much sense.

But do keep pointing out the supposed mental deficiencies of people you would otherwise have trouble arguing with. Part of the fun of conversing with you, as many have pointed out, is watching you stoop to personal insults as the only possible explanation for liking the show. It's like watching someone try and put pizza boxes on a car instead of tires and expect to be able to just drive off.

Most people have come to grips with the fact to Lost is subjective entertainment, and that everyone has the right to enjoy or not enjoy it. You on the other hand, can't possibly believe that someone could like it unless they've been run over or half-drowned as a child or, you know, something along those lines.

Every TV show should aim to be as good with storytelling as Lost was. If a show can make you as intrigued, addicted, amazed, and utterly mind blowing as the story of Lost, then standards for TV shows will rise all over, and would make serialized TV drama popular again.

It's really interesting to see what effects the writing of the show has on some people.

It truly is. It's definitely the worst show to ever receive massive critical acclaim.

What delusion.

This is what's so fascinating about Erigu. Obviously, I've stopped trying to convince him of the show's merit. But he's still tilting at windmills. Our own little Dharm Quixote...

I think that sometimes a lot of things can be enjoyable while not necessarily having good writing or acting. Some shows just have "it". I'm not sure if what word is emotion, or fun, or whatever but it's something that has given media such as True Blood, Twilight, and to a lesser extent LOST such a following.

I don't know that a show will ever really replace LOST for me. I acknowledge the ridiculous parts of the show but there became a point where I just wanted to go back to the island. A lot of shows were better in a lot of ways but that island locale, those characters, the sense of mystery, it all offered a very entertaining form of escapism that can't be replicated by jumping into the ghettos of Baltimore(the wire)--no matter how fantastic its writing, acting or realism.

I'll agree that season 4 is where things got hairy. So as long as the show was about getting off the island (probably s1-3) were the parts I absolutely love. When it became more about justifying the events that happened there, coming back to the island, and trying to hammer certain themes over our heads...it dipped. I've still yet to rewatch S6...I'm not sure that I ever will. I enjoyed the journey, not the end. I've watched Return of the Jedi a few times but have watched Star Wars and Empire Strikes back more than I can count. I've watched Lost Seasons 1 through 3 multiple times but will probably never watch S6 ever again.

So I watched the extra 11mins and it was pretty nice compared with the last episode. It felt like classic Lost and actually game some minor answers to things. I'm not sure how I feel about them making Walt the new protector, makes no sense really.

Seriously. It's not like bad shows are uncommon, far from it, but the "shitty writing + hilarious pretentiousness + critical acclaim" combo is a noteworthy one.

If you say so!

Of course: absolutely fair!

Aw, man... You're quite the riot, BenjaminBirdie.
Say, do you have something else to bring to the table? Some actual arguments, perhaps? It looks like you just gave up after the ridiculous shit from last time...

do keep pointing out the supposed mental deficiencies of people you would otherwise have trouble arguing with.
Of course you have something else to bring to the table: hypocrisy! I almost forgot.
And as we've just seen with your last "arguments" to date regarding the show, you certainly don't have trouble arguing with me. No, sir.

Most people have come to grips with the fact to Lost is subjective entertainment, and that everyone has the right to enjoy or not enjoy it.
Sure. Even I enjoyed it, after all. It sure was completely stupid though.

Anything less would be damn near inconceivable anyway.

Sure. The show was successful, and there are (naturally) reasons for that. I'm just saying "good writing" definitely wasn't one of them, here.

I have a theory that Erigu absolutely loves Lost and is just playing devil's advocate. It's arguably more plausible than him being someone who hates the show.

Or, who was that Lost writer that wrote some good episodes, Walkabout included, then left due to creative differences or something? David Fury, that's him, is that who Erigu really is?

So, since we're having a family reunion I thought I'd check DarkUFO for old times sake. I think they're just about scraping the barrel for stories. "LOST Star Jorge Garcia Confirms Making His Own Almond Milk" :lol
I want some

I should go through and count the number of things I spoiled for myself there.

I had a dream last night that I was in the jungle having a threesome with Sawyer and Boone, and it ended with us having to amputate Boone's leg. I forget what led to that happening, but I imagine it was pretty hot.

Brother!

Mad love mixed with occasional bouts of bickering, grudges, and drunk ramblings from crazy uncles. My kinda reunion.

I've decided that I'm going to watch a few select episodes. Starting with either 'Walkabout' or 'White Rabbit'. I might go for one from each season.

Is there a list of the *best* LOST fan theories ever concieved?

If not, there should be. I'd love to read that shit. Some really creative stuff was cooked up over the years. Also wanna see how close some of the fans got to the real answers during the early seasons.

My wife started watching this the other day when we realized Lost was on Netflix.

I was really hoping she would get into it: hell she watched True Blood even though she hated it, just for something to watch. I figured she could at least stomach a few episodes of Lost before getting caught.

Didn't happen. She was just "eh".

That said, as a fan, it's been nice to start over from the beginning. I miss the days when it was all about surviving, when the guns and knives were a commodity, back when the monster was the only thing of a supernatural/sci-fi bent.

I think after Season 4 I just lost interest. The battles with the Others should have been the focus of the series.

I got a similar reaction from a friend I tried to get into it. And unfortunately I can't heartily, unabashedly endorse the show after seasons 5+6 like I would have up to and including season 4.

I mean, I can recommend the ride as one of the best I've ever gotten out of a television show, but I'd have to provide the disclaimer that the final destination might not look quite like it did in the brochure.

Right, those first four seasons are worth the ride at least though. And that's a lot of television, if they get bored after Season 4, c'est la vie.
