Theres a cave where the hydra is? I searched that entire area and even hit the walls in the farthest back area and didnt find anything.
Starting this game soon, outside of the Dark Souls Wiki, is there anywhere else you guys would suggest that would help a total noob such as myself?
I'm unable to play Dark Souls at the moment, but is it possible towarp to and back from the Duke's Archives?
Honestly? Youtube. When I get frustrated enough on a fight I know that has patterns but can't figure out, I just hit up youtube. Shameless to some but a blessing to others.
I fucking hate The Duke's Archives so much.
I think it's the constant projectiles (be them from those damn archers or the dancing mages), because as a whole none of the primary enemies are very difficult.
I'm constantly fighting for my life in that place. Ugh.
Got cocky after beating Ornstein & Smough in Anor Londo, went back to take on the Four Kings, and got wrecked. First time I fought them must have been beginner's luck (killed two, almost the third, all on my own), because I couldn't even kill one before getting wiped out.
Went again, taking Beatrice with me... and she didn't do shit! Seriously, she was just standing around, taking a shot once every few minutes. I died again half-way through King #2.
Third time I take lighter armor so I can flip/move around a bit more. Beatrice does a little more, but not much. I get to King #3 and notice Beatrice has been vanquished. Worthless. I get double teamed by King #3 and #4. Quickly that fight is over.
I don't know if there is a specific place in New Londo Ruins where white phantoms will hang-out waiting to be summoned, but I couldn't find a single one to assist in the Four Kings fight. Fuck.
Been using a jacked-up Black Knight Sword +5. It's powerful, but good lord, if I miss the heavy strike I am screwed. Switched to a Zweihander that I added lightning to and I think I'm liking it more, even though it doesn't have the power (yet) of the BKS.
Phantoms can generally be found at the area just outside the elevators from Firelink (with the praying hollows) or sometimes at the Darkwraith area just past the shortcut pool, before the stairs to the building.
4 Kings rant.

Buff your weapon, sprint up, block, kill? The fuck they do.
One of my only "Really, From? Really?!" moments in the game. I have yet to find a 'satisfying' strategy dealing with them. Everything I've done to get past them seems either to rely on luck or just feels totally cheap.
Buff your weapon, sprint up, block, kill?
I've yet to die on those infamous archers and I'm playing the game again for the 5th time
* BE PATIENT. Every enemy can kill you, no matter how minor. Deaths are normal.
Omg, I beat. It wasn't very hard, but it gets so goddamn sad once you get him low on health ;_;Sif
Am I best off leaving Drake Valley until I have some decent lightning-resistance? Also, is there no good loot being guarded by those 3 cat things in Darkroot Wood? Took me ages to kill them for 3,000 poxy souls
After ringing the bell, a merchant arrived under the tower. Will he always be there?
A Golden Golem will appear in a cave behind the Hydra after you've reset the game (probably the back area you've mentioned). If you defeat him, Dusk will appear on the spot.
Since you've already unlocked the Sif area, you have access to the best grinding spot in the entire game right inside the massive door you opened to get there (unless you came via a ladder?).Areas open to me:
Sif
Capra Demon
Drake Valley
Down from Firelink Shrine

Then you'll probably absolutely hate how to access the dlc :lolAs much as I love the game, it's things like this that I hate most - Without a guide of some sort, after you explore an area, and you see there is nothing there, most gamers wouldn't go back to that spot? What's the point? Unless you plant something there, and would like to see it grow after you've gone away, there's no logical reason to do so. It will only appear "after you've reset the game". That's just stupid. As cool as it may be to have a surprise like that in the game, it's stupid. Atleast give me a hint or a reason to go back there. Reset the game? No, that's silly in my opinion.
The gargoyles are best done if you treat it like a DPS check. Ideally, you want to kill off the first one before the second one shows up. That makes the fight much more straightforward. Two-handing a simple longsword + gold pine resin (the gargoyles are weak to lightning) gives you enough dps to do this.Just started playing this on PS3. I beat Demons Souls 3 times about a year ago and loved the hell out of the game. Haven't gotten too far yet, just got to the bell tower demon in the Undead Parish. Just like Demons Souls, this game really punishes the impatient. Haven't played enough to tell which one I like more, but honestly, that's like picking a favorite child. I love them both for different reasons! Planning on picking up the DLC after I beat it, but judging on how I play that may be a while =P
Any tips for beating the bell tower demons? I do fine until the flame spitting one comes out, which causes my imminent death =P
Behind Capra Demon? Not sure what you mean. If you have the Master Key, you can skip the Capra Demon and another area past it, but you miss out on a few NPCs in the process. Is there a lot of stuff behind the Capra Demon then?
Took Sif out by pelting him with firebombs which I keep at maximum capacity as a precaution
Solaire is still there in the Undead Berg. Now I'm not sure if he died as a phantom when fighting the gargoyles, or if he vanished straight after they were defeated and will turn up later in the game.
Do I have to find a different blacksmith to take my weapons past +5?
If I take them past +5, do I lose the oppurtunity to ascend them?
Why is it that only certain bosses give you unique souls? I've fought Asylum Demon, Stray Demon, Taurus Demon, Moonlight Butterfly, Sif and Belfry Gargoyle, yet I think I only got special souls for Sif and the butterfly
Is it feasible to go the entire game without using magic?

Just popped the game in for the first time.! Which class should I start ? I'm a semi newbie
Classes don't really matter, it's just a starting off point. Pyromancer is the most newbie friendly since you have access to pyromancy right away, which is basically non-stat dependent magic, but you spec out of your class within a few levels.
That's normal. Just keep an eye out for what you can learn, and don't be afraid to experiment and be a little stubborn with those experiments (Let's try this. Didn't work? Let's try it another 5 times. --> "Okay, so it really doesn't work" OR "Ohhhh, so it does work, but I was doing it wrong"). Get used to dying a lot, and sometimes for the dumbest (and I mean DUMBEST) reasons. It happens to absolutely everyone, all the way up the skill/experience tree, so there is no shame in dying as long as you learn something from it.I'm scared lol
And how am I suppose to beat this asylum demon? Lol
There should be a door off to the side. Run through it (away from the demon) and continue the tutorial. And how am I suppose to beat this asylum demon? Lol
Everytime I backstab an enemy, I cringe with how brutal it is. When I was backstabbed and kicked off a cliff by an invader, I cringed, cursed and sat in glee with how awesome it looked, all at once
Can you survive a backstabbing?

Boss tips.
Yes if you have enough health. In my experience most backstabs are not insta kills.
I think I'll be skipping Dark Souls II...I stopped at Sen's fortress. I loathe the new hollow/humanity system. It just makes me want to stop playing if I carry lots of humanity and in human form, like I am at the moment. I already invested 40+ hours into the game. Demon's Souls humanity mechanism was perfect.
Ring of Sacrifice costs assloads and It's a rare item to boot. I'm sure there are 100 trapdoors and other traps in the area besides the swinging axes.If you are at a point where you are not confident you can get through without dying and/or not confident you can get back to where you were, just put on ring of sacrifice until you get past the part.
I just beat the tutorial guy . Lol. How do you use your fire ball?
Change your equips with the arrows, lock target with R3/RS, and hit R1/RB as if you are attacking. Locking is best to aim with these. Also go back and read the messages on the floor before you leave that area.![]()
