DS2 is great. Brilliant combat (this can't be stressed enough; the combat system is extraordinary for an action adventure game), one of the top 10 soundtracks of the generation, a robust world well realized through a distinctive art style, a good sense of progression (both in terms of abilities gained and the quests that open up over the course of the game), and standout moments throughout. The rushed second half, despite its terrible turret-oriented level, has some of the coolest areas and a couple of superb boss battles that shouldn't be missed by anyone.
The game is marred by pacing issues, repetitive fetch quests, and glitches, but all in all it still deserves a spot on the short list of this gen's must-play titles. In its own way, DS2 is just as rich as the original. It'll be a damn shame if this series doesn't find a home with a studio that can do it justice.
In closing, I'll just leave this here.
