there was a thread a while back that explained it all.

but the next movie you are in for a real treat. its one of, if not, the best.

I'll try to stick to Pop Culture when referring to stuff like this then.

I think we're going to watch the next movie tonight, I'm very excited to see it based on the reactions to the first two threads.

I watched all 8 in a row earlier this year and I agree this movie was the dumbest and second-most boring (runner up to DH pt. 1) It was like a really long and dull episode of some lame detective show. Why did that part about the transformation potion take so god damn long?

In all honesty, I enjoyed them all. Its accepted that the Prisoner of Azkaban is the best of the series.

I did enjoy the first one despite the flaws, it seemed much closer to the fantastical world the books probably tried to evoke. This second one somehow lost that formula though.

Yeah, the first one really benefits from the whole "fantastic world realized" aspect. After Chamber of Secrets, a lot of that feeling disappeared unfortunately. However, the increased quality tended to make up for it.

1 and 2 are the best in the movie series.

I don't understand how so many enjoyed 3 because that's when the movie franchise lost it's magic imo pun intended.

no.

I actually enjoyed the 5th as well even though the
Dumbledore and Voldemort
fight wasn't exactly how I imagined it.

There is almost nothing redeemable about 2 for me. I mostly enjoyed it for the experience of watching a movie with my SO. I love watching movies with her when we get the chance.

I'd love to hear why you thought this movie was good though.

It's been more than a few years since I read the book or seen the movie. But from what I remember the movie was almost scene for scene what I saw in my head while reading the book.

That can be a bad thing though if the scenes don't flow together to form a coherent movie narrative. It may be the most faithful adaptation (I have no idea) but as a movie it was very hard to handle the transition from one sequence to the next.
