LTTP: Resident Evil Revelations 2 - Mother of Balls, My Life is Awesome

Pros:
- Level design is varied, and reminds me of the scale from RE4 and RE5 (primarily due to outdoor environments, layout, feel, etc.)
- Nice having Barry and Claire back.
- Controls are solid. Addition of being able to move while shooting (compared to OG RE4 and RE5) is welcome addition, as well as being able to dodge and crouching (to perform stealth kills).
- Decent length game.
- Laser sight!
- Atmosphere is more tense, due to actual limited resources (well a lot more limited than first game).

Cons:
- Puzzles are essentially non-existent (kind of expected this far into the series).
- Moira is useless (for the sake of "plot", that is easily missed).
- Partner AI is awful, and they stand around getting pummeled by enemies.
- As is the case with RE5, partners feel like pack mules (but are useless compared to Sheva).
- Inventory system is awful, especially since there's no storage bins.
- Natalia can pick up a brick and hit enemies with it, and throw the brick, but has no other combat options.
- Natalia's "powers" aren't really explained in any real detail nor given a whole lot of background info about.
- The concept of using Moira's flashlight and Natalia's powers to find hidden items in the environment is worse than the first games scanner.
- Moira and Natalia are useless in fights.
- Dialog is especially awful for Moira, and pretty much all the side characters are cringe (see title of post).
- Skill tree is unnecessary (as is the case with most games).

Most the stuff from the "cons" are attributed to Moira and Natalia.

Game could have been elevated to another level, had they just allowed you to play as Barry and Claire, in separate scenarios, and leave Moira and Natalia as off screen characters. (Similar to Jill in RE5, where she only really shows up in cutscenes, and that's it).

Overall had a lot of fun time with the game, it was just brought down by having Moira and Natalia there.

I played this and remember enjoying the arcade trials part more than the story missions. I barely remember anything about the story. Fun but forgettable. 6 out of 10!

Fuck.. for whatever reason this is the only one I've never got around to play yet of all the games we have on PC. And as a huge fan of RE games that doesn't feel right.. Really need to get to it this year while desperately waiting for that RE9 reveal.

The game has a good foundation, it just shits the bed with the inclusion of the useless partners.

If you do play it, stick with exclusively using Claire/Barry.

You'll miss hidden items by doing so... but the items mostly consist of jewels (that act as currency for the nonsensical skill tree), and some herbs/ammo.

Also apparently the DLC "Little Miss" is awful. I didn't play it, but may watch the video on YouTube to close the circle.

Without a doubt one of the worst games I've ever played in my life.

Everything was shit, cheap and crappy.

Resident Evil games don't even have characters, or rather they do for the first game they're in and then any future appearance of the character is just memes and gags (with different character design and voice actor attached each time).

I enjoyed the exploration, but found the campaign fairly forgettable. The DLCs add some depth to the partner characters, for those interested. What I really loved is Raid mode. Played it so much and still dip in occasionally.

The campaign is pretty fun if you have a friend to play with. At least the Claire/Moira side is.

The game was kinda ruined for me with it's release structure. They really leaned into the whole episodic aspect and actually staggered the chapter releases (the first game was also episodic but released as a complete game). It had some pretty bad performance issues at the time too and of course they weren't really gonna fix them until everything was out.

Raid Mode is by far my favorite RE extra mode and would much prefer to have it tacked on to RE games instead of Mercenaries.

I like Moria's character and her lesbian/Bi vibe. She should have return and team up with Adult Sherry.

Also a Revelation 3 game with her destroying adult evil Natalia would be cool.

But Capcom seem to have left a bunch of interesting characters in the dark to be forgotten like Moria, Manuela, Jessica, Jake, Steve, George Hamilton, Sheva, and Natalia.

I had a great time with it. I loved the Raid mode so much, mainly played as the beautiful curvy office lady. Main story stuff I feel about as much as you did OP. In that sense I enjoyed the first Revelations more story wise but I stuck to the second's raid mode for quite a while. I'd like to see a third. I was put off by Toby McClaire though. But then again I was there at launch for 2 and CV.

Game was trash, especially when played in one go. Episodic worked a bit better. Enemies were quite shitty, perf was bad (PS4) despite game having PS2+ graphics.

Co-op was bad too since one can only point at things. The game really tried to be edgy with Moira constantly cursing and Barry finally doing it too. I never liked Raid, I am more of a Mercs guy.

Great game! It ran slightly better on Xbox One, than on PS4, that's why I bought the console from Microsoft!

yeah, sadly the Adventure game roots of the series are at best only hinted at in any game since RE4. even in RE7 and 8, which did go a bit more back to then roots, the adventure game elements are very simplified.
