Biggest thing that's been holding me back on buying a Mac is price. However I found a guy who's selling this:

Power Mac G5 with two dual-core 2.5GHz Processors.

# Mac OS X 10.4.5 Preinstalled.
# Airport Extreme and Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR Preinstalled.
# 250GB Serial ATA; 7200 rpm.
# 512MB of 533MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-4200); supports up to 16GB.
# NVIDIA GeForce 6600 with 256MB of GDDR SDRAM.
# 16x SuperDrive with double-layer support (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
# Three open PCI Express expansion slots: two four-lane slots and one eight-lane slot.
# One FireWire 800 port, two FireWire 400 ports (one on front), four USB 2.0 ports (one on front), two USB 1.1 ports (on keyboard), two internal hard drive bays
# Optical digital audio input, optical digital audio output, analog line-level input, analog line-level output, front headphone minijack and speaker
# Dual 10/100/1000BASE-T (Gigabit) Ethernet ports; integrated wireless antenna; included AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR
# Apple Keyboard, Mighty Mouse, USB keyboard extension cable, DVI to VGA adapter also included.
# 1 Year Warranty from AppleCare.

$800 USD

Is this worth going after? Is there anything I should be looking for that can go wrong with a used Mac?

$800 sounds like a great deal.

It's a bargain. But I would add at least two gigs of ram. Take the additional price into the equation.

I'm not seeing the ram on NewEgg - do I just look under PC2-4200?

Also, what can usually go wrong with Macs? I want to make sure I'm not buying a lemon. This (if I buy it) will be My First Mac. :D

Macs are extremely solid and they usually fail pretty soon into their life if they're going to fail at all (in my experience anyhoo), so if it's still in working order then chances are it will be for years. We've only had a problem with 1 of our 15 G5's here at work and it happened about a month after we got the batch of 15.

Holy shit that's a bargain, even taking into consideration RAM upgrades.

Guess it was a bargain.

He said that it was a typo - he meant to say 1800.

Crud. :(

Edit: Why aren't the message editor buttons working?

bad luck, sorry to hear that. for 1800, I would quit on it and get an Intel iMac.
