Oh my god the download speeds are horrible, I do the speed test and I'm like 300 mbs and I'm downloading all the games at 10-30mbs. Their server must be getting hammered!

Is it normal for the disc drive to make a higher pitched noise when it's pulling in the disc when you insert it? Mine accepts the disc fine, but I noticed it sounds different than One X.

well, that's my Series X being returned :messenger_crying:

randomly shut off and wouldn't turn back on. was pressing the power button but it just flashed and went off. fans didn't even spin. i noticed a burning smell coming from it. i shouldn't have smelled it becausee now i have a headache and my throat feels strange. eventually got it on. then the controller/wifi kept disconnecting. i tried reconnecting to my wifi but it couldn't find it. the screen kept flickering on/off and there were artifacts across the screen.

Looks like my Series X has shit the bed. Played all of nine hours of valhalla, via three different sessions. Last night I turned the console off as normal and it switched off FAST, beyond normal speed for a shut down

Now when it turns on, black screen. After pushing the power button to turn it off

It stays on

It's fucked.

Just literally managed to get it back. Had to hold down the power button for ten odd seconds, remove the power lead, removed expansion drive and USB externals. Plug the power back in, after three attempts it booted up.

I think i'll be going back to the One X for a while, at least until a firmware update

The series X seems flaky at the moment.

Sounds odd. I had a random issue with the console shitting itself when a bluray film had a finger print on it. I read someone else’s comment that they’re gonna hammer using it as much as possible to fully stress test it and I’m inclined to agree. If it goes wrong I’d rather it happened now whilst I can get a full refund.

Has anyone with an LG C9 tried to enable chroma 4:4:4 by doing setting their input to 'PC' rather than Xbox/Games Console?

I did this but then I got a weird flickering ghosting on the screen. Definitely not what this chap got in this video. I have switched it back to 'games console' for now:

Did anyone buy the external SSD card? And if so, does your console also now only crash on start up when the card is plugged in?

based on that video if you set it to 4k/120fps and 10bit color depth, you should get 4:4:4 without needing the PC Mode

does that introduce the problem aswell?

Does the Series X require online check-ins?

Woot was able to get 2 Xbox series x (one for me and one for my bro) for a small mark up and shipping. This will hold me over till the digtial ps5 are available retail.

should have them early next week.

Can I ask you guys to do me a favour?

I plugged both of my headsets tonight into the XSX controller to play some Ori and the sound volume was really low. I then plugged it into my old xbox one controller and the sound was loud and perfect.

I have done various restarts and twiddled with settings but the volume to the headset using the new pad is obviously way lower than it should be. With the old pad, it's perfect.

Am I imagining this or do I have a dodgy joypad?

Can someone who has an old pad test this for me?

Playing BC games on my Series S...I was really disappointed when I heard that S plays One S versions... But I actually surprised how decent many of em look. I kinda expected them to be a disaster...but they are fine

When I try to use any EA Access title from Game Pass my only options are to subscribe to EA access for 4.99 a month, or go to Microsoft store to buy the title. Anyone have any ideas? I've seen a handful of people report this problem on the web, but I can't find a solution anywhere.

It's real lovely to have a massive banner that "EA Play brings the best of EA to Game Pass" which I have to scroll through but the functionality doesn't work.

Isn't ea games available only to game pass ultimate subs?

I don't think regular game pass even exists anymore, regardless I have game pass ultimate.

The best part is it is all a loop of broken. If I try to buy EA Games for 4.99 it gives me an error code. If I go to Full Library and click on EA Games it takes me to the renewal screen for my Game Pass Ultimate. Game Pass has all the EA games listed but my only option there is the broken link to buy EA Games or to buy the game from the MS Store.

There are only a handful or reports of this. Articles just say to go to the Full Library and click on EA Games, but like I already said that just doesn't work for me.

I should go plug my Xbox One back in and see if maybe I can get it to work from there, and then maybe it'll just work when I go back to the Series X.

The sound was a bit dimmer on the new XB controller, but other than that I seem to hear everything just fine.

Thanks! I was able to sort it. For some reason the volume on the new controller defaulted to very low and it took me ages to find the setting. The old xbox one controller didn't do this however, thus my puzzlement! Regardless, all sorted :)

HDMI-CEC isn't working for me any many others on my Series X, it will turn it all OFF, but won't turn it ON and the remote won't control any of the UI. Also the TV isn't going into auto scene modes like GAME when the Xbox is playing a game. It's not the cables, it's not my gear(the PS4 does all this perfectly) it's the Series X. My PS4 works like this, even my old Raspberry Pi 2 and 3 works like this.

Some people have VOLUME control issues via HDMI-CEC but they have the UI is working fine with their TV's remote control(this is how HDMI-CEC works).

If anyone else has this issue please report the bug to MS to get more attention to it, so they'll actually FIX IT.

Every controller gets it's own sound profile in the chat mixer. Now that you have it set it'll remember those settings until you change it again.

I fixed my EA Pass issue by adding a "renewal" to my Game Pass Ultimate. Apparently without that even though I have ~20 months still left on it it didn't add EA Pass. Seems likely to just be an oversight on Microsoft's part.

Dirt Rally 2.0 is on sale at the moment and runs brilliantly on Series X, it was pushing 4k 60 on X1X bit now seems to just stay there. GRID is also looking really good as well and is on sale to.

Do physical Xbox and 360 games work on the series X without issues? I still have Double Agent for both Xbox and 360 on my backlog and it would be neat if I do not have to get my 360 out of the cellar to play those.

Sorry if this is a bad bump but I have a couple of questions for you XBox kids...

1. How do you download games in your queue (GamePass) when you're not playing? I assume there is a sleep mode that does this like PS4?

2. Why the fuck is the d-pad so God damn loud. I swear my neighbors can hear me navigating the menus. Are all SX controller d-pads this loud? Does the DualSense have anything on it's controller that loud?

That's all. So far so good. GamePass is interesting at the very least. Haven't owned an XBox since the OG so there's some games to check out...

If it’s part of the backwards compatibility list and your Xbox is connected to the internet to down download it

try gamepass mobile app you can add game to to queue from there (same is possible via Xbox store app on Xbox), to make sure that games and updates download at all times go To settings -> general -> power mode & startup and set the power mode to “instant-on”.
