Damn this seems like a good OS, so fluid and snappy.

And goddam OG EXPOSE IS BACK AND FEELS GOOD. Makes this best update ever.

It's now been more than 12 hours since I submitted my request for a code...

Damn, you too? I came in to see if I was the only one, but looks like a colossal ball-drop on Apple's part. They couldn't automate this process with a web script? It's like they're going through each request one by one and have 1 person on the job.

I submitted mine around 12 hours ago, but I'm fairly patient when it comes to things like this so as long as it comes in the next couple of days I don't care too much.

I submitted mine about 12 hours ago as well. The reason why i'm so patient is because I know i'm saving $20. I can't wait as long as it takes.

Yeah, it's especially ridiculous because the computer I registered for it wasn't even SOLD before June 11th (Retina Pro), so they should like automatically know I get a copy.

Jeez, It's like waiting to be approved on GAF all over again.

How do I know if Spotlight is done indexing and doing it's magic? I just installed ML about 1 hour ago and everything seems normal now. Do I need to leave my mac on overnight?

Doesn't it have the little animation in the magnifying glass when its indexing? At least in the previous versions it would do this and if you moused over it it would tell you Spotlight is indexing and give you an estimated time.

For those calling this a service pack, please explain to me how it's possible to create a 24 page, 2600 review of a 'service pack':

http://arstechnica.com/apple/2012/07/os-x-10-8/

Incredibly thorough review. One day, I'll read it all.

John Siracusa is legendary.

It could be all fluff but neither you nor I have read it all so I can't comment. :p

Currently installing from the USB stick I created. Though I had to do it three times and it kept giving me an error when it finished. But it booted so we'll see. If that fails I still have multiple points of attack to get it installed.

BTW, so, what's the build number of the official release? The GM was 12A269. Is the official release the same?

Why are you installing from a usb stick? I've seen other people mention this as well. What are the benefits of doing it this way?

Some people just want a fresh slate, so did I.

I just rebooted into the recovery mode (command+r during boot), erased the main hard drive and launched the downloadable installer.

That USB stick business has not been error-free for me either (messed around with it in Lion).

VOOK

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.
Messages got messed up so I turned it off on all of my devices, and now activation on the iPhone is taking over three hours. Urg.

Yeah when I installed and activated Messages on my computer last night it killed my iPhone. Not sure if it's because I'm on iOS6 beta though.

Seems to be the easiest way do do a clean install and migrate. Though I could also have booted from my clone and run the installer from there after reformatting. Also I probably didn't need to since I really haven't had any problems for a few days. Even my WiFi problem disappeared a few days ago as if it sorted itself out. But whatever. It's currently migrating my stuff now. About a half hour from now and I'll be back in Mountain Lion.

I wish I skipped Lion and got this instead. The only reason I'm not too upset is because Lion was a free upgrade. So I don't feel bad about dropping $20 on Mt. Lion.

auto correct has stopped working for me in safari, anyway to fix this? and it is checked when I right click and go under "spelling and grammar"

So is the verdict that Safari is Godlike? I'm tired of using Chrome and waiting on Google to update to retina. Tempted to switch back to Safari on ML.

Still waiting for my email. This is very disappointing. I really don't get why they just didn't have a web page that actually served your code right then and there.....arg.

I've only owned this rMBP for two weeks and it's my first time using OSX. So far so good....I just don't think I'm familiar with the OS enough to really "feel" the difference.

They have switched to retina. On the Beta and Dev channels, at least. I'd recommend switching to one of those (I pretty much always install the Beta channel on a computer when install Chrome, I like it more than stable).

It's pretty sweet to be able to use the Siri like function to post replies on the here without having to type it out God I'm so lazy.

I like this upgrade a lot over Snow Leopard, except I'm going to have to get used to using mission control instead of expose.

Is there a way to setup my iPhone so it forwards them to my email address? iMessages is pretty useless if you can't it seems.

Yes you can. On your iPhone go to settings>messages>receive at>caller id and set your caller id to the same email address that you use for iMessage on your MacBook.

With Notes taking over from Stickies, is there a way to automatically import my old Stickies into Notes?

Are there new Bootcamp drivers included for Retina Macs?

I wish there was a way to switch the up/down between expose and mission control. Also the show desktop motion is very clunky and it hardly works for me.
