I think they just think that about the "other guys" campaign.

This is an interesting dilemma where a media organization, by combing through those emails and possibly finding dirt, makes itself somewhat of an accomplice to whoever hacked and leaked them in the first place.
- Report on it and help the bad guys get another bad guy elected
- Not report on it and ignore news and possible wrong doing by the hacked party.

It's so weird that the story about Fillon's wife came out when the Democrats knew they had no chance against him when the candidate they expected to win the primaries didn't. So they could focus all their resources and convert their allegiances to Macron who is the total opposite of French socialist values, because they knew that Melenchon wouldn't give any single of them a seat at the government while being the closest to the historical French left.
They picked Macron and gave up on their official runner (Hamon) months before the elections btw because they knew he had no chance. Talk about beliefs...

You blame Russia (hello cold war) without anything backing it up. This hacking won't change anyone's mind. Especially 2 days before the election. We are talking about French elections, people here have political beliefs and education. They don't make their mind up based on one TV channel telling them what to think nor from a video-game forum.
They conveniently found something about a candidate (Fillon) who had chances to beat the socialists (Macron had no chance at that time) and no one find this suspicious. Macron has always have been supported by Hollande to create his party etc while they should be completely in opposition in terms of ideology.

Um. Fillon was always in danger of having skeletons in his closet because the main center right political party under various political party names has been involved in scandals in the last decade or two.There was always a chance something would pop up that killed his campaign.
Similar to the reopening of the investigation into Hillary's emails just before the election, the mere existence of a story like this could be enough to affect the vote. Whether or not anything incriminating is found could be irrelevant. We'll know soon enough.

This exactly. The idea that polls are useless because they have failed before is stupid. It's clear that polling is not an exact science, but people need to understand that in both the Brexit referendum and the US election the polling did not give a clear advantage to the Remain or the Clinton campaign. A 30% chance for Trump is not negligible at all. Besides, a US election is much harder to predict given that the vote is done on state lines, Trump won despite trailing heavily in the national vote. In France it's easier given the winner of the popular vote wins the election

By now it is known to everyone on Earth except Trump's base that the Russians did in fact leak information to influence the election. Given that, is there a single French voter who will not see this sad, desperate, 11th hour ploy for what it is? This shit ain't gonna sway anyone.
Like no one is covering this in france right now so it's very unlikely to influence the vote their now.

Well, the media are reporting on the fact that this happened and was propagated by far right circles, with a particular last minute push by FN officials. I'm not sure this will benefit them.
The electoral watchdog reminded every media that they should be very careful in their reporting of leaked documents, though.
