Because there was a year they took it out, and last year was pretty clunky.

I know there must have been at some point and probably very frequently so, but I can't remember ever seeing a white guy on the cover before, besides John Madden himself.
It hasn't been on PC for years
Madden 12 had Peyton Hillis on the cover.

CCM (connected carrer) has been in the game for the past 4 or 5 years. unless i'm misunderstanding what you are asking (like you and your buddy joe can't both be on the SAME team in online franchise i don't believe)

Can achievements not be unlocked in the trial? I've completed a few requirements, but have only unlocked the EA Access Challenge achievement for playing one game.

It is entitled to complain about not being able to play before the offical date. Doesn't matter what other people manage to pull off. You payed to play it X numbers of days early chosen at their discression. The 18th was the day you paid for. It comes accross as whiny if anything. If you wait for the time to come and you still can't play then its justified in your complaints.

I'm kinda peeved too. I waited up till midnight and it still didn't launch. It is shitty that the only people who can't launch the game are those who preordered it. That's crappy customer appreciation

I'm going to complain to EA about it and maybe try to get a $5 refund for the month, especially if they don't get this issue fixed tomorrow.

edit: miss read the statement. Sorry you can't play it. That sucks. For the record, I didn't pre order it so I was able to play.

not really. might be a couple new animations or some different effects up close but from an actual gameplay angle i notice no difference in graphics

Its the 18th with ea access past midnight ala their stream announcement and I still cant play as most others who have preordered cannot. Still whining? Or a slap in the face to the loyal? Guess your missing the point.
Edit: nvm in my haste I misread your post and now I sound like a jackass so my apologies. Ill keep my post up to eat a slice of humble pie/but still convey a message that its messed up for the people that they have their access and their preorder $.

I'm in the same boat. Yeah, it sucks but no its not still whining. Its justified now, ask for a refund for your $5 dollars. I don't view it as a "slap in the face" but more of a "glitch due to the new store." But hey we gotta get outraged about everything cus we are clearly being taken for a ride. God forbid human error comes in to play.

As the situation is now, I doubt it's fixed before noon and I work this evening so I probably won't be able to play till tomorrow. It sucks but this is a first time issue with this and they most likely need to talk to MS get this fixed. I still got my $5 worth though off my pre-order so I'll let that slide... for now
True, thats the other thing thats got me off my rocker a bit. I never got the free month of ea access with it (even though advertised) but I got it with fifa and bf1. I contacted ea and ms with both goofy responses. Maybe why im in a weird mood when normally this kind of stuff doesn't bother me and im usually the one typing your sort of responses when people act like im acting currently.
Thanks for the quick wake up check though stupid shit like this really shouldn't bother me haha guess its just a build up of all sorts of stuff!

Just tried it this morning and still no luck.
Seems like if you preordered the game and have EA Access, you can't start the trial, it only says"Play" which tries to launch the whole game. And obviously the whole game can't be launched until Tuesday.
I'm surprised it's broken considering that EA Access hasn't had this problem before.
I'm going to submit a help ticket to EA and Xbox about it today and hopefully we'll see if it's resolved.

Played some preseason games and the first regular season game. Overall I think it's one of the best Maddens. The gameplay is good all around, especially in the running game. Ezekiel Elliott is a monster. The new kicking mechanic is actually challenging, which I like.
The improvement in the commentary is insane. It actually feels like they're commenting on the game for once.
As far as franchise goes, it's not too different from last year's, but having the ability to put players on the practice squad is huge.
I'm pretty happy with it so far.

I did. I searched for it in the game store, found the actual game (not the standard or deluxe edition, but Madden 17 itself), and the play trial option was there.
Not sure why it's working for some people who preordered and not others.

Not so good. Played a match online and the game speed has increased a lot from last year. Players feel like they're on skates. In 16 I was about to cover the middle of the field on defense and get user pics. If a pass was completed it was completely my fault for being in position. Now I feel like a liability in coverage, sliding all over the place. Running the ball feel equally as bad. Fake punt and field goal plays are OP. And who's idea was it to change the QB slide button? From double tapping X to holding both triggers and X? Why?
Still have 9 hours of trial left but I'm leaning heavily towards Deus Ex at this point.

For people having issues launching Madden who pre-ordered it, I filed a ticket with Microsoft and was assured that they've had reports of this and are working with the Madden team to resolve it.
They say, in the meantime to try this:

Just read the Falcons new stadium is in Madden. It automatically switches to it after the first season. Also available in play now.
Never expected that.

I never knew they did this kind of thing either, cool. Especially since I live here and the Falcons are my team. The lighting in the Georgia Dome has seemed so dark and flat to me in past games.

also for a few things i've noticed (only about a game and a half worth of play):
+ fucking FINALLY i saw a fumble in the process of throwing from romo (https://www.twitch.tv/frenchmovietheme/v/84323254 go to 42:05 to see)
+ i really like that they've toned down how much you can do with ballhawk. you can't just patrol the entire field and shut down the entire middle with one guy. they really improved that last year as well, so i don't want to say it was horrible last year, but they've refined it even more based on a game and a half
+ running feels better to me at this point. i'm not getting stuck behind blockers and it feels smoother
+ controls in general feel smoother to me. someone above said he feels that he is on ice skates.... are you sure you aren't trying to jet all around holding turbo all the time? it feels fine to me
+ screen defense seems improved
+ man defense seems MUCH better than last year. guys aren't open by 5 yards if the QB has any time to throw now
+ noticed quite a bit more fumbles so far
+ AUTO FLIP ON DEFENSE IS A GREAT ADDITION! thank god for this. Basically, whatever formation you come out in on defense, the game will flip it to match the offense so your coverage is appropriate.
- still some of the same madden issues creep up (dropping back 10+ yards doesn't seem to have the penalty it should, the fumble recovery AI logic is still odd at times with guys just trying to glide by to pick the ball up and miss)
+/- depending on how you felt about madden 16, this is positive or negative. the game doesn't feel THAT much different, and unless you are a hardcore player you may not appreciate the minor changes (major, for some of us)

Pretty bummed, still doesn't launch for me. EA Access now correctly says "Play Trial," but when you go to launch the game from the store it still just says "Play." I even tried the steps that the MS rep had me try out.
Disappointed that EA and MS didn't work this out.
So, now that it says "Play Trial" in EA Access, I've uninstalled the game and now I'm reinstalling it.
Does anybody remember what % it was installed when you could play the intro? It's at about 20% now and installing relatively quickly (25Mb/s)
