I don't listen to her music it's not my thing, but I don't think she gets the credit she deserves. She boosted the Beastie Boys career, she went out of her way to fuck with the religious right and she hired William Orbit. She's probably done a shit load more but just them 3 things alone make her ok in my book

She gets more credit than she deserves imo. She just "borrowed" from the underground/subculture music scenes and brought it to the masses with the help of MTV.

Every artist who has ever existed "borrows" from others. If your gonna use that as a reason then your gonna have to throw out every record you own. As for bringing the masses attention to subcultures, what's wrong with that? There ain't an artist on the planet that doesn't want success, recognition and money for their work. Fuck, there probably wasn't an artist on the planet that would've turned down the chance to work with Madonna in her prime. You think when she called William Orbit. I'll say that again, fuckin William Strange Cargo Orbit. You think that when he got that phone call he gave one second of thought to the house scene he was from? Despite your diatribe I never said there was anything wrong with bringing underground music to the masses I just don't think it's worthy of much credit maybe because I've been listening to House/Dance (whatever you want to call it) before Madonna invented it. 🙄
