Is it bad that I have no idea what most of you guys are talking about because I spend all of my time in Suppression?

Yes it is, you're missing all the good things in the game, even if Domination is too chaotic for your tastes denying yourself the fun of Sabotage and Acquisition is madness. :p

I don't understand how some of you high level guys (like Lince) are complaining about bad squad leaders. I'm level 58 now and since about lvl 50 I've gotten picked for squad leader every single game I've played (except for games joined mid-way). Surely it's the same for you too? Are you really not getting picked for squad leader in your games?

but you never gave the other PMCs a chance Lyulf, you joined the worst of the bunch, you should come back to MAG and play some games with us EuroLag Kings :lol

actually I think I'm the only Euro playing Valor now, Cagen, FFO, Rick and the others seem to have moved on to other games.

If they fix some of the issues I have with the game then I will probably play again. Right now I'm just waiting to see what Zipper is going to do with DLC, and the various issues in the game.

Ohh yea I almost forgot about his. This is another problem I have with MAG. High levels do not mean you should automatically be squad leaders.

Dude, WHAT!? Man you gotta get move on from suppression, do some sabotage, acq, and domination. Suppression is just lame, you hardly earn any XP, you're really not even playing MAG yet if you haven't left suppression. Might as well play the training mode over and over again.

Too many late nights catching up with me + major fuck up with a server replacement at work have kept me from playing this week. Hope to be back on tonight or tomorrow, got a couple more SVER levels to go - how far are you from joining Raven?

I'm always picked OIC or Platoon Leader.

I'm Valor level 60 already :lol, tons of XP destroying SVER bunkers and playing Sabotage with Click and the rest of Valor GAF (I prefer Domination though).

So I'm having a TON of fun playing. I just got the game and I only stopped because I need to get some work done. I loved the team based nature. It looked more like an actual battle than a MP game.

Only problem I have is I use a USB headset and for some reason I can never seem to hear chat commands via the headset being plugged in with the microphone and headphones both plugged in. The microphone goes into the PS3 via USB and the headset part goes into the headphone jack on my sound system. Whenever I have both plugged in the sound balance is messed up, but when I unplug the headset, I'm stuck with the fact I have a headset on for mic work that gets no sound.

I've tried playing around with the sound volumes, but it doesn't seem to work. I'm assuming I should just get a bluetooth headset, correct?

How much do you play? I don't see how you guys are able to level so fast. You switched to Valor less than a week ago, right? That's nuts, some of you guys will have been through 2 PMC's, maxed out, and then switched to Raven and probably reach 60 before I do. :lol I'm sorry, I have work and do overtime every day, a wife and kid, and lots of other obligations that make me lucky to play 2 hours a day. You guys must be putting in several times that per day.

Fu#$ that map.

Do you guys know where I can find the Raven attacking SVER acquisition map?

Lol same here too! Supression got boring and then tried the mode where it's protecting ABC, i thinks its sabotage. That was cool except no fraggos from pub SL. So that sucked and no one bothered rezzing me.

That is until I got to play with Lince, Click and ValorGaf on i forgot what mode. It was pretty fun.

That map Lince posted looks pretty fun. Can't wait to try it out. Dont think I can atm. Im like level 5 or 6

seriously, it's the most rewarding map when you get a decent team to play on.

The only GAF clan that really worked for me was GAFe KZ2, lots of players connected everyday for MONTHS, people mashing the "join game" button to be able to enter a clan match before it became full (we were looking for multiple clan tourneys every night just so everyone could play) and a dedicated chat-room always packed... those were the times!

Greatest MP experience ever. Months of pure joy. I remember in the early days there was no complaining, just fun. How thing's have changed with us :lol

I havn't left MAG, I just havn't played in a couple of days. Wanted to finish Dead Space which was damn good. Tried to play Far Cry 2 but it's the worst game I've played in a long time. :lol I'll play MAG 2moro night after LOST. Will be intoxicated tho and therefore "scary":lol

I am getting a little burnt out on online shooters to be honest. I've decided, after hearing TTP's impressions of the SP, that I'll hold off getting BFBC2 for a while. Gonna buy some SP games. FFXIII, GoW3 etc etc. Might get back into KZ2 for brief periods in between but nothing too serious.

Would like to get to lvl 60 with Valor and Raven, don't know if I can be arsed or not, we'll see how things are when we switch to Raven.

This is still the best MAG GUIDE I have found.

You got the glow man! Thanks for posting this; I suck ass at this game, been reading all the stuff on the PSBlog and GAF trying to learn what I can. I joined my friend's clan but kinda want to join up with GAF since my friends have weird ass hours and play from 3-7AM. 9-5 job kinda makes those hours a little unappealing to say the least so I'm not getting much practice in with a good team. Plus my friends only play Sabotage so I still havent tried Acquisition or Domination! :lol

I guess nowadays we're playing online shooters a little too much seriously, we want everything to be perfect: perfect team mates, perfect connection, perfect balance, flawless victories...

I blame our godly KZ2 status, we were unstoppable back then, no matter the number of randoms/idiots we were always turning the tide of the battle and sometimes (we would) switch factions and turn the tide again :lol

Your awesome Lince thanks.

Alright I witnessed this strat a couple days ago and now I have been implementing it every time I am a Squad Leader and we steam-roll the hell out of the SVER assholes.

2r7mwdu.jpg

1st Phase RED LINE
is you get your transport wedged to the right of far right bunker. It sits right where the SVER guys spawn out of so you get a good amount of kills just moving the vehicle slightly forward and backward and its impossible for the bunker turrets to hit it which leaves rockets which never get to us in time especially with me repairing it.

2nd Phase YELLOW LINE
You just steamroll the rest of the bunkers at this point. You are in a great covered position being behind the last bunker to safely heal each-other and destroy the bunker turrets. The rest of the bunkers fall quickly from this point.

3rd Phase GREEN LINE
From there we take out the Gate, AAA, and Motor Pool.

Final Camping BABY BLUE OF VICTORY
Then we just camp the AAA and gate. SVER devotes groups of 5-6 guys to try and get the AAA, Gate and bunkers back up so with the helicopters and a transport vehicle we just annihilate the bastards. We won a game this morning in record time for me: 5 min.

My only concern is the huge amount of unfunny. It's just stupid...there's no point in them posting this. I mean, fine, among your friends it would be semi-entertaining but posting it for public consumption? It's the stupidest, worthless dreck...

Yep, that's the way it's done. As long as you have a decent squad, take the outer bunker and sweep through the rest.

sweeping technique with APC cover strategy

you can apply the same strategy when playing on SVER domination map ! that's why I can't believe people like you quit that map, yes I know the disarming bugs and stuff but once you destroy the bunkers/AA it's a matter of rushing your APCs to the pump stations and work as a (full, not half) team.

Yup...that's really all it is. And they think they are hilarious. It's not like what they are doing is SO offensive...but that it is posted on their site and that it is so stupid is what is completely lame!! It's like...what is the point??? Haha. Any idiot can do that. Just because they work for IGN and have a camera...

Team killing and basically going "lol thats funny".

I have to say that I've enjoyed watching some of Shawn Elliott's griefing vids in Team Fortress 2, and that this can be funny depending on if you're funny when you're doing it like he is and his alternate persona, Ralphie. So yeah, I doubt that this is as funny, but I'll have to check it out.

Edit: His one when is defending the girl in the match and talking about how they don't know honor.. priceless.

You know whenever I hear someone laughing about TKing over a mic in team-based multiplayer games, I imagine what the person who is laughing looks like.

And that squealing, dumpy piece of shit is exactly what I imagined. I'll put dollars to donuts that kid lives in his parent's basement. Amazing he doesn't work at Gamestop.

IGN is the worst.

I hope DLC enters in some new modes. Just some stuff I was brainstorming while bored at work: :lol

2 (or 3) PMCs spawn on either side and the goal is to repair and maintain as much "property" in the middle in the game. Everything is started as broken from start, must repair to 'control' it. Have a ticket type system maybe, or whoever controls the most during the game or reaches a certain % in controlled. Could do like 2 maps and switch the spawning sides per match to avoid certain PMCs from having advantage.

Gauntlet style game. You must escort a vehicle with VIPs to the other side of map. Destroying turrets/mortars/etc to get through. Limited number of VIPs and vehicles at the spawn point.

Team Deathmatch style with no respawn. Could be smaller maps or the ones in play no in Suppression but make it access to all PMCs. Maybe add variants to it like Assassinate the OIC to win.

3 PMC Battle with 1 team defending while 2 other teams are attacking. 128people on Defending team while the 2 other PMCs have 64 each. The Defending team wants to hold out for time while the attacking teams want to capture the object/vehicle/vip before the other PMC.

Just bored at work wanting to play SC2 beta :( :lol

You outlined it in your post. Start at an outside bunker and destroy them one at a time, then AAA and finally the towers. If you can work with another squad, even better.

I read somewhere that the knife is only a one hit kill from the back. Takes more than one if they are facing you.

Yep that's been my experience. I imagine it has a bit to do with people having 120 health. Not that I know for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if that health boost bumps you up to 2 knife stabs from 1 in some armor kits, much like it does with body shots with big sniper rifles.

How do you guys check the population of your team as a whole? And is there a way to check how many players from the opposing side are fighting?

Be intriguing if they release some DLC maps that shake up the modes. Say add a small secondary objective to Sabotage, which would hopefully allow newbie squadleaders in those modes to be introduced to simplified FRAGO and airstrike concepts. Or maybe a two/one front Domination map, performance permitting. Double sided Acquisition? Raven and SVER fight over abandoned Valor vehicles? I might be reaching a bit.

Personally I'd really rather not mention DLC unless we're talking free DLC. This is a $60 game we're talking about here that has 3 factions and a somewhat limited number of maps. There is a lot of variety in them due to playing with different people and with different strategies but one could say it's fairly barebones. I'd really prefer that they keep the content free like how Valve does for their games and not split the player base. If they do paid content, they will have to be small modes because you're going to have a really hard time filling 256 player maps throughout the day on paid DLC.

Oh, your ideas are pretty good though. I'd just prefer if everything that they do DLC wise is free.

Is there a particularly weak bunker? In that acquisition map we target that bunker cause its a perfect shield for the transport so it doesn't get blown up.

Did a little more research and found:

Knife is 1 hit kill with med/light armor and 100 health, 2 hit kill with heavy and/or 120 health. Not sure if the knifing from the front or back is valid. When you come over to Valor you can knife me and I will let you know the damage. :D

There are many guys that are better than me but from my experience as long as you work from the outside in as a team, you will be fine. SVER's bunkers are lined up nicely so when you take one down, you can use it as a shield from the turret on the next one. If you have 3-4 guys with RPG's/rockets the turrets fall almost immediately.

Edit: Sorry for double post

this, the tricky part is that your squad MUST control the APCs and drive them to a safe place in the pump stations areas so you can swarm them, if a clueless squad controls the APCs and just drive them around then it's certainly game over as there's too much open space between the choppers / parachutes landing area and the stations' gates.

pro-tip: keep destroying SVER motor pools with precision airstrikes or whatever you need, 3-4 vehicles patrolling the pump stations and camping the helicopters are a pain in the ass.

The problem in that map isn't the right side, its the left side, you can't get that APC out there.

Now, we have taken that side before, but it requires more teamwork. Usually we would send 2 squads through the west side (sometimes using the ships as a cover), then move under the docks and wait there, then we would send the other 2 to attack the middle bunkers, once we had enemy concentrate on those 2, it was easier to take down the left bunker.

The problem is that they can get their APCs right there (by the first bunker from the left), which at times works as an extra bunker
