The Technomancer
card-carrying scientician
Sweet, my group loves Planechase
Seems like every deck needs to run 4 Snapcasters. So expensive!
Trying this right now. Suggestions?
I'm not doing the usual illusions deck because I have neither phantasmal image, lord of the unreal (tho this I could buy) or snapcaster mage; so without phantasmal image, the phantasmal bear x lord of the unreal combo look real weak.
So it's half a delver deck and half an invisible stalker one. The aim is to open with delver (obviously) and then just play what the hand tells me to. If I have counter, I protect the delver, if I don't have, this usually means I can put a invisible stalker and start buffing him.
My experience from cockatrice and FNM is that sometimes I get a free win because everything goes according to keikaku, sometimes I get trampled because nothing gets off the gound. It's kind of do or die, right now, not stable at all, but getting the win cake enough times.
4 Delver of Secrets
20 Island
4 Mana Leak
2 Gitaxian Probe
3 Runechanter's Pike
4 Ponder
1 Mindshrieker
4 Invisible Stalker
4 Think Twice
2 Turn Aside
4 Vapor Snag
4 Grand Architect
4 Dissipate
SB: 4 Insectile Aberration
So a buddy casted Stitch Drake which requires him to exile a creature. He know has one creature. In response, I wanted to sake my Nihil Bomb to exile all of his cards from the graveyard. He says since it was a casting cost of exiling a creature, I know longer have it to exile and thus he's still able to cast it. Is he correct?
You very, very, very badly need inkmoths for that deck, especially with pike. Also mindshrieker is bad.

Creature is exiled when costs are paid, so no, you can't respond to it with Nihil bomb and soft counter the drake.
If the wording is something like: "When <this card> comes into play, exile a creature from your graveyard. If you don't, sacrifice <this card>", then Nihil Bomb would work since <this card> would come into play, look for something to eat, find nothing, and die of starvation.

I can personally attest to his scumbaggery.
In weirder coincidences- someone replied to the blog post as "Team Sp00ky". Weird.
Lol what does the fighting game community care about mtg?
Man, I haven`t played this game in almost a decade. Last time I was playing, 7th/Odyssey/Onslaught and then 8th/Onslaught/Mirrodin were Standard. My roommate was playing a few games with a buddy last Friday and I was like `toss me a deck, I wanna play a round or two`.
Needless to say I now have a box of 12th and one of Innistrad, with a fully functional U/W Control and a version of Red Deck Wins, both of which remind me very much of Onslaught/8th edition play. Overall it seems like the cards are not nearly as crazy broken as I remember them being (Ravager Affinity, R/W Astral Slide, Goblin Bidding with Skullclamps...ahhh, the glory days) but the addiction kicked in hardcore nonetheless. I will probably be making my way to FNM soon enough, still remember my old DCI number and everything.

Has anyone else been watching the controversy with Alex Bertoncini and his alleged cheating? Every since he won the SCG Invitational yesterday (and his previous on-camera earlier in the event), all eyes have been on him, various evidence that has come forth, and the pro community has had a lot of discussion. If you read just one thing, I'd recommend it be Ted Knutson's wordpress article.

The Bertoncheaty thing had me looking up famous DQ's for cheating and it amazes me how quickly DCI used to jump on cheaters but they've let Bertoncheaty get away with this shit for so long.
One of the DQ's I was reading about involved someone ignoring a misplay by an opponent and getting DQ'ed out of the tournie for it. I know that you have to be responsible for your own misplays but if your opponent fucks up, it should be on them, not you.
Ya I remember reading about this but completely forgot about it. I'd be interested in rereading this if anybody can link.

Ivory Tower syndrome at work- the sheer lack of common sense is absurd. That's shocking and it's baffles me people are trying to pass those as "sloppy play". You don't return to your hand a 2/2 creature that got smashed for 2 damage because you are playing sloppily, you do it because you're a cheating scumbag.
I recently picked up a couple core decks to learn how to play Magic.
What's up with them wearing suits when they play?
Are you playing magic at a furry meetup ChiTown?
Kibler wears a jacket at tournaments, but otherwise, I'm confused as well.I'm trying to figure out if he means sleeves or if people come to play in business suits.
Looking for a new casual deck, and trying to decide which I should build first.

Which do you guys think I should build first? My casual playgroup has all kinds of decks, and I'm looking for something new to play.
Treefolk. Everyone will hate you if you play Slivers.
Chitown you want to play with my group in Bucktown?!
