Okay, this seems really great but I've no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. Just beat the library boss in a little over 20 minutes pretty much just spamming square. L1 + square obviously uses your Aura and I presume that makes your attacks stronger but besides that I'm not sure how to make my attacks more effective. There's the charge thing with X but I don't quite know how/when best to use that.
Any tips gratefully received.
Several key tips to make your life easier
1) D-Pad switches weapons, use it gratuitously. =P
2) Controls are customizable, so set them to whatever you feel is comfortable.
3) Block, block, block. Blocking at the right moment will get you a decent amount of aura.
4) Heal as soon as you get a body break.
5) Use different combo ender strings:
- punch x3 > press d-pad up = bullet combo ender (great for decent range and multi-hit in a mob, much better against a single opponent)
- punch x3 > press d-pad right = lance combo ender (great for getting out of harms way on top of being a decent strong attack)
- punch x3 > press d-pad left = sword combo ender (does two circular swings around your character. good damage, great length, and works wonders against mobs)
All these combo enders come out instantaneously, but you already need to have the weapon (i.e. sword, lance)
6) Dash all the time. As you will find out in later levels, standing still will get you killed easily.
7) Generally beat the levels in this order.
- Library, Foughten Fields/Forbidden Floor (can be switched), Escort of Queendom, Triumphal Square
8) Use aura attacks as much as you can (holding L1 while attacking)
9) The Release Mode (charge L1+X) gives you different levels of strength depending on how long you hold it. You can see your level by the amount of glowing icons on the top-left when activated. It strengthens every move and is very devastating when combined with aura (L1). I suggest not using it until you have at least 2000 aura though as it drains relatively quickly. You can stop release mode by pressing L1+X again.
10) You can cancel any movement by blocking. Great when you're in the middle of a combo and you need to move out quick.
Aside from certain situations, the sword and the bullet combo enders are the best damage dealers in the game. Use them all the time.
