well, TLR was a shit tier manga with shit characters whose raunchiness was constrained by the format it was being published in.
Darkness is like the same shit but with much more smut and the annoying leads replaced by Momo. It's an improvement on every level including the art and I've kept up with TLRD much longer than TLR.
I hate having to read manga with no clear idea of how long they are. Apparently Dark Horse only translated the Miss China storyline but then there are 3 volumes in the Spanish version? I feel like I missed a lot
Art is by Kenji Tsuruta so it's godly. Miss China reminded me a lot of Xianglan from China Girl with her broken English. Can't say she was a more interesting character but she was far stronger always destroying down her own restaurant.
Essentially the story is about China dealing with the inventions of some scientist and his other buddy . They got pretty creative with them. Mirror reflector that lets you go to the moon, magical flying brooms and the Portal stuff. There was even a nice love story thrown in there. My major complaint is the panels didn't flow that well so it ruined some of the moments in the manga. Outside of that, good nice short story that is worth reading.
I'll still take Grimace's excursions over the gaming side's morality in games/conventions talk. You could build a spaceship with all the soap boxes. But I guess there's nothing else to talk about if the games suck. BAM

That was the rumor once we found out the series was "ending" a few days before the so called final chapter came out. But there was never any official word from Jump about what was going on with the series. Regardless there was no reason to believe the series was ending, at least not the way 126 went down.
It always sounded bizzare that it was supposedly ending in such a way but given you had some manga who did something similar people might have thought it would have made some sense (thats if it was going to another publication).
I guess Jump not saying anything should have been the sign that it was not as it seemed.

does it have a plot? i wouldnt know seeing as how i dropped the first one after i realized it was going nowhere. i know the smut has been ramped up, which is just pathetic.
I wonder if other Paladin users will show up at one point, the headmaster was very strong. Also some hint of an evil mage organization was dropped. Arata at the end looked pretty cool and is now time for a good fight next chapter.

Velvet Kiss is basically hentai without the genitals drawn. I wasn't aware there was a plot considering there were entire chapters of nothing but censored sex.

The final arc was pretty good. The suspense, the action and intensity and even the ending itself. I think this has an example of how to actually do a decent ending for a longerish manga. And on the ending
Yanagi should have stayed a spirit, it was more powerufl that way and I was actually tearful about it when Recca whipped out Phoenix and etc, also when Kaoru left with Kirei to go to the past, that was intense, nice for their relations to be better but to leave the other friends behind. I hate friend departures like that

6 / 10 overall. Virtually every fight was predictable, and many of the twists forseeable, however it did have some surprising moments. I liked quite a few of the casts members, on Team Hokage, Mikagami with the water sword madogu, Ensui (and whom like all of my secondary protagonists...tend to lose), Kaoru with the Kogan anki madou (hilarious, powerful, and cool, reminded me of Killua in HxH), and on the antagonists, Joker (pictured above, looks cool, and is funny), wish we got a Joker v Kaoru fight.
Major hinderance of the manga was just that super long tournmanet arc which seemed to make up over 110 chapters, and then after that another arc that just never took off until way late in the end of it, which just flowed into fillerish chapters to this final arc...oh and chapter titles were quite spoilerific, what was the writer thinking? And lastly reusing the same antagonists is kind of lazy, too many exposed boobs, and I dont think the manga needed to be extremely graphic in regards to character deaths and blood.

Funny because Zenkichi's reason for not telling the answer was clearly to give time to the readers to do it themselves. It's a shame there's no meta character around to lay that out in the open (Zenkichi was about to find an excuse before he got interrupted).

Well yeah. I just feel like the logic to get to the answer is crazy/loose enough that there are probably 15-300 different plausible answers, so there's not much point in actually trying to figure it out.
At times I feel like the Kanji girl was meta self-evaluation of the author's own crazy logic
