There is no motivation that can justify what he did. GRIFFITH MUST DIE.
I'm not saying he's good and what he did was anything but pure evil.
I'm saying there's good reasons for what he did, there was literally no other way this would have gone any differently.
I mean the guy's lifelong dream and along with his life was cut short and there was no other way he could have achieved it.
I mean better men than Griffith would have done the same, he was after all shown to be ruthless and do whatever it takes to further his goal.
If there's such a thing as really evil, that's a pretty good example of it but it's not out of nowhere like in most fiction.
But they're the Mafia. The criminal underworld should have a greater understanding of nen and some real firepower in their employ. Otherwise, how did they ever manage to become the Mafia?
The way I see it, they're only the mafia.
They deal in illegal stuffs but they're not such an unstoppable force.
Kinda like how in Sunkenrock(I read that too and yes it's awesome, I just finished the casino arc) they make the parallel with a state, the mafia and a company.
No, one low ranking member of the Mafia hierarchy employed Kurapika as a bodyguard. Their 10 main enforcers died in a single night. But it's also about how the Mafia was totally out of the loop for the entire arc. They were clueless about pretty much everything throughout and the 10 most influential members of the organisation end up dying off-screen without ever seeing it coming.
Very true, this is shown pretty well in the manga as well how clueless they were on whatever the hell was happening.
The fact that they had to make a manhunt to even get a lead on who the attackers were is pretty telling.
Had the spider not called for the head of mafia it would have ended differently.
Heck it's not even that surprising that the spider would mop the floor with the mafia when you see that the black list hunters were wiped out by Hisoka and Illumi lately!
Simply put, when in HxH they say that the spider is dangerous they mean it. It also shows how powerful the ants were when only some division commanders went on to make their kingdom in the shooting star city they were only wiped by the spider and that wasn't an easy task either.
