Pouty Robin is moe~
Bart for nakama please. Anyway, I'm dying to see Sabo's face and his fighting style, the audience is in for a surprise. Koala has grown up fine.

One Piece 731:

Glad we finally got Sugar/the toy maker's identify revealed and was the biggest deal to me. Although there's still questions to be answered about the fruit itself:

1) Why does it keep Sugar from aging?

2) Why do the citizens lose their memories of the people who turn into toys?

3) Does the fact that she can't be unconscious also mean she can't sleep, and has she been "awake" this entire time?

But this can wait until the actual battle/confrontation happens, as I'm sure Sugar will explain things further.

Anyway, Oda took care of a lot with the Sabo reveal. The most obvious being who would get Ace's fruit (assuming Sabo doesn't have one). I was assuming Luffy would save it for Sabo and give it to him later, but having Sabo show up now works. It also handles how Luffy could fight and win against a Blackbeard crew member before the big confrontation between the two crews later in the manga. Having Sabo take him on and win will keep him a threat for when Luffy and co fight him, since Oda can freely make Sabo as strong as he wants.

Sabo also answers the question of how Luffy will fight Doflamingo's crew and the marines if half his crew is running from Big Mom and how will Luffy get to the next destination. This is assuming Sabo brought more than just Koala and has transport (Dragon maybe...probably not but maybe some more Revolutionaries). Between Sabo's people, Luffy's remaining crew mates, and the friends he's made in the competition, he should have enough people for all of Doflamingo's crew members to have match ups (really hoping Robin and Koala fight but not holding my breath on Oda doing any more female match ups after the disappointment that was Fishman Island). And who knows, maybe Law's crew will still show up.

Speaking of Robin, this chapter confirms that she met Sabo and once again illustrates the problems with the Straw Hats not communicating/talking about their past experiences. Sure this is a nice way to keep things secret for the readers, but it really makes the Straw Hats seem like they don't give a damn about what they did for 2 years/or anything important in their lives.

Fun chapter overall even without the Sabo reveal. Really hoping we'll see Sabo do some fighting next chapter to answer the question of if he has a Devil fruit, but I'm guessing we'll stick to Luffy/Ussop and maybe get an update on Sanji and the ship.

Not the best translation but it fucking awesome .
Oda really going all out for this arc , i can't wait to see what happens next .
Need to see Sabo face and fighting style .

The SH do talk about there past but most of time they don't care about it either way .
When they we going to FI we saw them doing just that .
Plus this is Luffy we talking about he is the worst among them when it comes to that .

EDIT forget to add from flashbacks we know good amount of there past until they became SH .

I heard really bad things. I loved all the routes in the VN so I don't know how much they messed with it. If they had adaptions like F/Z it would be worth watching.

The manga might be good, but I never checked it out and it's stuck in translation halfway through, so yeah.

God no, it's a terribly animated trainwreck. If you don't want to play the game, even reading the synopsis for it would be better than watching FSN. And don't even think about watching the Unlimited Blade Works movie without having played the game.

Nope.

Play the VN instead

Hmpf, that's too bad. VN it is then.

Well F/Z was much easier to do since it was a novel .
Still if i remember right they going to a new F/S anime so i looking forward to it .
The only route they not do anything really with is Heaven's Feel so most fans think it going to be that .
Hopes for true ending if they do it .

Uhh, why would it matter that she met Sabo? It's not like she'd know his relation to Luffy (it's not public knowledge) and you assume he would reveal to her his relation to Luffy (he has no reason to). Obviously he'd want to tell Luffy himself.

I woke up this morning and read the OP spoilers/reactions and figured I was just seeing things.

Several hours later, I come back and ... welp.

welp.

Actually, I just thought about it. I don't care enough to catch up with OP right now. Too much. Maybe I will during the Christmas break.

Waiting for Naruto to come out :)

As I mentioned, as readers/as a way to move the story along this is perfectly fine with how Oda is telling the story. Luffy being aloof, flashbacks, etc... And obviously it all works out from that narrative since the Straw Hat crew constantly are just stumbling upon tidbits which makes them surprises for us as well. But as a crew of friends living together and traveling together, looking at it from the "real world", it's dysfunctional. Again, I understand why Oda does it (Luffy having no reaction to Sabo showing up if Robin told him about her meeting him prior to Fishman Island wouldn't have had the same impact). I just think he could improve this.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
Yamada

I refuse to believe that Yoshikawa resolved that plot in 90 chapters after never resolving that plot in Yankee-kun. She's gonna dump him for whatever reason.

Obvious next plot is why Yamada and Tamaki have powers, or what the source of the powers is. Also, what is that thing that Nene is holding in the last page?

It's not really dysfunctional even if we go by the "real world" .
The earliest members of the SH were together for a year maybe less before the time skip .
Then as i said for certain members we know the most important part of there lives already .
Robin would have a interesting past but she not going to talk about it and crew not going ask her if it don't matter .

One Piece

So they just casually mention that Devil Fruits stop you from aging? That doesn't seem right. Hell, didn't Luffy get his fruit when he was just a little kid?

I hope that is addressed immediately. Still seems rather odd that the whole thing with the witches and everything is just done already. Not even an antagonistic character still remaining even.

UQ Holder

Sorry, guys, but this entire series is boring so far. There's nothing going on other than Touta being generic as all fuck and a bunch of annoying arrogant-guy adult men standing around doing cool-guy poses like Noctis's crew in the FF15 promo shots.

Literally the only even semi-interesting plot point is Kuromaru's gender, which apparently is already wrapped up (she is just going to say she's was a girl but had a male demon sealed in her or whatever to make her immortal).

I agree, UQ holder isn't interesting at all atm, but I have hopes for it later down the road. It's probably better to just wait it out and read in one go later on.

Not going to lie though, I'm just in it so that Akamatsu somehow makes up for Negima's ending and explains shit.

My fiancee just thought of something. It was mentioned in chapter 717 that no one is allowed out at night. That's because when the girl is sleeping, the toys revert to humans! And they're not allowed to live together for the same reason!

I understand why "story wise" they don't talk to each other about their past. Us, the readers, knowing about important facts about the Straw Hats is a relevant story reason for Oda not to rehash past information. However in the real world, there is no us/we. So saying "we know about Robin's past in a flash back" isn't relevant to what I'm trying to say. And Robin not talking about it/the crew not asking about it is dysfunctional going by the "real world". In the story, yes, we know Robin doesn't talk about these things and the crew doesn't ask. It works for the story for them to just keep things moving and it allows us to be surprised when these story details come out. But when you take a step back from Oda's narrative, and look at the characters as "people" living on a ship together sailing for months/years, it's starts to look silly that they can't even talk about their past adventures as a way to bond.

Anyway we're just going in circles. If you want to keep discussing this, focus on this part of your post:

It's not really dysfunctional even if we go by the "real world" .

Why wouldn't this be dysfunctional if we go by the real world? That's what you need to respond with. Otherwise you're just rewording what I addressed in my original post. So if you're going to respond to me with how it's not Robin's character to talk or Luffy is dumb and he wouldn't understand or Oda doesn't need to waste panels recovering stuff we already know, there's no need to continue.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.

SABO!!!

What an awesome reveal, the minute I saw Luffy's face I knew it was him. It was awesome to see Koala again too, even more awesome that she's apparently a badass Fishman karate specialist now. I'm hoping that at the end of this arc, Sabo and Luffy will sit down and have a proper chat, as well as give us more information regarding the Dragon, the Revolutionaries and the structure/progress of his organization.

It was also nice to find out about the little girl, Suger, and how her DF works, as well as why she is still a little girl (like she was in the flashback 10 years ago). Now I'm curious about Trebol's DF ability, it obviously looks Logia in nature but I can't really get an idea for what element it is... It almost looks like Jelly?

I'm also one of those people that find it a little off putting that the crew apparently hasn't really talked about their two year separation, like details of what they did and who they met. In fact, with the exception of a few brief panels of flashbacks with certain characters (Like Sanji), we have no idea what kind of training they went through. I'm sure this will likely pop up during individual battles, as a flashback to show whatever new ability/skill they use, but it's still weird that they obviously haven't talked to each other about the time-skip. If they had, Luffy would have learned that Sabo was still alive a long time ago, although Robin is just as guilty by not telling him about Sabo (Considering he related his importance to Luffy to her). I know it's just nit-picking, but it's one of the very few annoying things that's been bothering me post-time skip.

I still love this series to fucking death and it's only getting better.

Doc Holliday

SPOILER: Columbus finds America
WTF that is Koala!!?!? From the Fishman Island flashback!?!?!? I can't handle this :O And she knows Fisman Karate !!!!

Sanji will bleed!!!!

Very nice.

:( As much as I love One Piece I still think this when on form is a class above everything else shounen wise, Togashi pleaseee :(

Anyways this One Piece arc now has the potential to be the greatest so many players involve now holy fuicking shit!!
I'd give up all of shonen jump for more Hunter, and it wouldn't be a hard choice.

I was slightly spoiled thanks to some spoilers after the chapter came out, but this was still pretty epic. I guess Oda still follows the Shounen rule that if you don't see a body, then the character isn't dead. Kind of stupid, but that's a trope for you.

As for Robin not telling Luffy about Sabo, I have a few ideas why it might have not come up in discussion.

First, there has been next to no downtime for the crew since they all met back up at Shabaody after the time skip. The crew left and headed for Fishman Island right as Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro got on the ship and then ran into a handful of issues. Since this time, the only real portion of downtime the crew would have had was between Punk Hazard and Dressrosa, where they would have been putting together their plan.

Second, Robin would have not known that Sabo was childhood friends with Luffy unless Sabo had said something. It's more likely that either Sabo kept his mouth shut under orders from Dragon (because we know how Luffy can get about his friends) or under his own self-discretion. It's probable, but unlikely that the main reason this is never disclosed is because he feels ashamed that he wasn't able to save Ace during the war.

Lastly, Robin does know and had decided not to tell Luffy to make sure he focuses on the task at hand. I think this is also unlikely, since we see Luffy as a much more capable leader after spending two years training. There were glints here and there at certain points, but he seems more focused and is better able to read situations than he had in the past.

Aside from this, I'm not sure if Sabo will join Luffy's crew as he is one of the revolutionaries working for Dragon.
