Mario Baseball Announced

i personally don't mind these type of cash cow games. As long as they look bright and clean and plays well, I will be renting them.

Considering how bad last year's baseball games are, this becomes my most anticipated baseball game by default.

And dear god, I will now be crushed if there is no Koopa Kids team.

i'm sure the pimp hand has something to do with this. doesn't he own a baseball team?

Reggie said something to the effect of "more Nintendo games". Just about the whole 2005 line up-is Nintendo games...
Donky Konga 2 & 3
Jungle Beat
Fire Emblem
Geist
Mario Baseball
Zelda
Kirby

To me, if 3RD parties aren't going to support Nintendo, then this is what Nintendo needs to do...they can't just leave 2005 completly dry. And they need to do the same next generation, the time where Nintendo tries to rely on "support" is over...they have to support themselves and not expect much from 3RD parties just in case. Going back to the N64 model they'll become more profitable and self reliant...and they've introduced new franchises this generation and expanded a lil', but next generation they need to do more of that, not rely on so-called "exclussives" from outside companies and work on more collaborations. What they just let loose tonight (Mario Baseball, Kirby & DK3) seems to be easy milkjobs...but easy is a good way to go to finnish a generation so that they can concentrate more on next (and Zelda, of course) and by the time some of these games come out I see Nintendo pushing GAMECUBE as a budget system and these games sorta compliment that.

Hot shit! Yes yes yes! It's about time America got another Japanese-made baseball game. I've been so sad because Namco never brings Famista 64 over here. Japan makes the best baseball games. PERIOD. NAMCO better be making this. I would cream my pants!
Any players of Famista 64 know what I mean. That snowball multiplayer game kicked ass! ALL the minigames did! And that stupid quest mode, too! Hooray for Japan!

Wow, I thought this was a joke.

As long as this is fun, I don't care if they're "milking" the Mario sports games. I'd buy it.

I'm sure Nintendo is probably starved for characters to put in a Mario baseball game, so every chance someone get's to speak with Nintendo (press/interviews) they NEED to express the addition of the Koopa Kid's...Nintendo has been listenning recently, hopefully they'll hear.

i always said that Nintendo will make light sports titles, or life time sports.

They already did golf and tennis, baseball is a good choice. I'd really expect to see a bowling in the future as well.

Well, the way I see it, I can see 3 teams.
Team Mario, Team Bowser and Team DK. Unfortunately I see DK in the pic, but I hope there's more than 1 team arrangement with multiple char picking. What's the bare minimum for baseball? 8?

Edit:
We call that Nester's Funky Bowling. It was good.

Horrible....

Can Nintendo do no wrong to you sheep?! And where is mario 128?!

Nintendo's biggest fan (ME) wishes the company was a living person so that I could beat some sense into his fucking head.

Mario Baseball?! Mario Baseball?!

Yeah I hate when they make fun games too!

Not too sure about this, if Konami's Jikkyou Powerful Pro team is behind this somehow then it is a definite buy - simply the greatest baseball games ever made and I'm not a huge fan of the sport.

Back the fuck off, you SHEEP! I'm watching a childhood friend die! Let me rant in peace!

Please. Mario has been a staple of a wide variety of games since the NES.

I can definitely see Mario Soccer and Mario Skateboarding or something like that. It's a bit ridiculous, but people eat it up and the games are usually fun. Of course, if they were online it would be a different case.

Mario sports game = 8.0
Mario sports games with online mode = 9.5

Yes, we remember how Nintendo farmed out some of its most important franchises in the 1990s. I, for one, had hoped that Nintendo had since learned to treat such franchises with more care and dignity. Although some degree of expoitation is to be expected, at some point it's fair for us to declare, "too far."

Say what you will about the absurd franchise milking, but I guarantee this will be one fun as hell baseball game.

I really wish Nintendo would make a real Mario game once in a blue moon, though.

Sega's applauding this move:
"Simply Brilliant. It amazes me that Nintendo thought of this before us."

Third parties are hysterical.
"One of usss.... One of usssss... One of ussssss....."

The Mario Bros. are Nintendo's answer to the Baldwin brothers. Lately they've been appearing in something every time you turn around, to the point where it's getting sickening. Even if the gameplay in half these games is terrific, the fact that I'm golfing/karting/whatever with the same damn Mario characters AGAIN is enough to make me want to avoid them. Since I suspect that's not what Nintendo's out to accomplish, I seriously hope they try either creating some new franchises or pushing some of their existing ones more heavily, in place of all the 'Mario, Mario, Mario' we're getting nowadays. =/

lol. I thought this was a joke too, but heck, if the game is good, then who cares about milking? I just wonder if Camelot is making it. And I hope it features alot of characters. I assume this is set for a spring/summer 2005 release.

It's frustrating to see Nintendo like this: the company can make solid titles that sell well based on their own merit. It doesn't need to whore a franchise. When a franchise like this gets whored, and Mario is everywhere, all of a sudden a new Mario game isn't a big deal, because there are ten other games with Mario on their covers.

I don't see why they don't have a multiple sports title. Since they have a limited amount of characters, you could extend the game by having the teams play different sports. Like baseball. soccer and basketball and throw in a story mode.

I'm thinking it would become a 'Jack of all Trades, Master of none' kind of situation, if that were the case. As much as I'd love to see it happen, I don't want to see the quality of the games diminish.

Soon Mario will play Mario Basketball, Mario Football, NCAA Mario, Mario Rugby, Fight Night Mario, and Mario Hockey... and say SCREW YOU EA, WE DON'T NEED YOUR SPORTS GAME ANYMORE!
