No items in Mario Kart is worse than no items in Smash. Then again, my friends and I just learned about the options menu in Mario Kart Wii so we had our first item-less games in the last week.

Are we doing an official code exchange thread on the community board like we did for MKWii or are we doing all the exchanges here? I'm not complaining I just want to know whether or not I need to start combing the thread for FCs.

You can turn off that option in the Mii Plaza settings.
But I don't want to turn Invite Mii off. It has a use outside of Mario Kart 7, too. Sometimes I'll StreetPass someone, but I'll only get their Nintendo 3DS Sound StreetPass data, or their nintendogs + cats StreetPass data, but Invite Mii brings their Mii into the Plaza anyway. It's nice in those cases, but it's just stupid and unwanted in Mario Kart 7's use of the feature.

I always thought the point Invitation was about Mii characters you meet in other games and not the ones you get via StreetPass...
Yeah, but it was never used outside of StreetPass until Mario Kart 7. And I think it should have stayed that way. It's called the StreetPass Mii Plaza for a reason...

What a classic couple of games, I was playing against someone with 3600 points and we were tussling the whole race, 1st/2nd and alternating the whole way. Last corner, he is ahead and the blue shell flies past me, he reverses to try to catch me in the aftermath, so I reverse to avoid. Good old Sammy Sin steals the 1st place.

Yet sadly most of the new tracks don't really strike me as memorable either, it's all been a bit downhill after the first 2 Mario Kart games bar a few standouts here and there.
Neo Bowser city is a remix? I've got to perk up my ears

Indeed you're right, If i'm not mistaken It seems to also splice in some of the mario circuit music from the wii version.
In the Plaza, check the Toolbox. There's an option to turn off getting Miis from other games (but you can still get them through StreetPass).
I'm keeping the Online Miis for now, but I wish those Miis would be sent to a separate screen rather than cluttered with the StreetPass ones.

I wouldn't mind if it were just the people to race against but every time I went in there my Miis were increasing by a factor of two. I cleared them all out and turned that option off, thanks.

I think the music mostly sucks and is pretty forgettable. The new Rainbow Road theme is nice though.
I really miss the MK Wii theme (mostly this track).

I think I will stop playing a lot online because I am getting tired of getting disconnected all the time as it is happening too often lately. I suppose it will make me focus more on getting all of the 3 stars on Mirror and doing time attack.
After getting Lakitu I noticed how Koopa Troopa and him have similar stats. A bit disapointing I will say.
