If you get the 7 and have 7 items surrounding you, other characters can hit them while they are circling you and get their benefits.

Someone bumped into my Starman and drove off, invincible.

(I'm finding the 7 items thing FAR less "game breaking" than I was expecting. Half the time you get hit with a shell or something before you can use all the items, and as they were "equipped", they are lost.)

FYI, don't try to grief and go around the tracks backward, trying to hit incoming players, the game will kick you with a "Communication Error" message.

I have found the best way to use the Lucky 7 is to quickly use every item right away.

It's too risky to drive around with those plastic explosives attached to your kart.

They should rename that item to the unlucky 7. Every single time I have had it someone either hit my bomb with an item or just drove into it causing me to explode and lose everything else.

that's what always happens to me. i'm sitting there trying to figure out which item i wanna use and BOOM.

I just try and activate the star asap then spam the other items at my leisure. The difficult bit is trying to watch it without driving off the track.

What a classic couple of games, I was playing against someone with 3600 points and we were tussling the whole race, 1st/2nd and alternating the whole way. Last corner, he is ahead and the blue shell flies past me, he reverses to try to catch me in the aftermath, so I reverse to avoid. Good old Sammy Sin steals the 1st place.

Loving this game so far. I'm a little sad to see stuff like the big mushroom and cloud go away, but ah well. The new courses are awesome, and it's neat to see the SNES rainbow road is still the best rainbow road.
