Why did you ever? Did MK: DS make you lose faith in the franchise?

Good luck with that. This will of course use friend codes for friendly games. As with almost all the other WiFi games (Pokemon being the exception) you'll be able to play random/ranked matches with strangers without having to put in a friend code.ComputerNerd said:Better not use friend codes.
Nooooo. The feel of SMK is unrivaled in the series imho, from the items (no blue shell-yay) to the battle mode (feather! lots of walls) and the lack of snaking it was just more fun. MKDS is a friggin' great game and has lots of improvements in other regards but to me SMK still reigns supreme.TheGreatDave said:They already bettered Super Mario Kart with Mario Kart DS.

No. Mario Kart DS was awesome (except for being totally broken). This made me lose faith:TheGreatDave said:Why did you ever? Did MK: DS make you lose faith in the franchise?

EDIT: Err.. Actually, that's kind of big. I'll just link it. Not everyone has 1920x1200 screens.
Yeah, think about all the different kinds of penis and swastika shaped courses we could race on! Fun for the whole family!shaft said:A mapEditor would be so awesome. And sharing them online! The game would never die!

I still like my mode 7 gamesMagicpaint said:SMK is my least favourite in the series. I just feel the series has moved on since then. Everything about it feels dated, yes I don't like the controls either. And there's just no sense of movement because your karts aren't actually moving. I enjoyed it back then, but it's painful for me to go back to it.

Amusing, yes?A statement released by Official Nintendo Magazine reads:
The details printed in Official Nintendo Magazine 21 regarding Mario Kart Wii were healthy speculation on our part and are in no way an official announcement from Nintendo.
"We are sorry if we have mislead anyone. We do not set out to mislead our readers. ONM apologises profusely for any misunderstandings that this has caused.
Doesn't sound like speculation to me...Mario Kart Wii is set to be the first game in the series to offer the addictive Battle Mode as an online option. Add to that the fact that you can now pull off stunts while you're in the air and you've got a sure fire corker on your hands.
Did we also mention online battles cater for up to 16 players? And the fact that the classic DS tracks will be recreated with Wii graphics? And the fact that, naturally, there will be a whole bunch of Wii-exclusive tracks too?

I don't know why they decided to fuck up their own fantastic controls - no game in the series has managed to provide that kind of tightness since. I've been playing SMK with friends for 15 years - it is the gameplay alone that can provide that kind of lasting appeal. In all subsequent MK games they retardified the controls and gameplay...to me, the series is one of Nintendo's worst, and MKDS still pales in comparison to the stratospheric standards set by the original.
Everything since has failed to replicate the original magic. That's why all I'd like to see is a small team of people involved with the original SMK spending a few months putting together SMK2 for the VC.
You can learn to avoid the blue shell... It's tricky, but doable.Phife Dawg said:Nooooo. The feel of SMK is unrivaled in the series imho, from the items (no blue shell-yay)

Of course not - I hope you're being sarcastic.Dr_Cogent said:Problem is, all of those people have to be friends right?
