There is going to be a major Open World mode that they haven't unveiled yet.

It's going to be the feature that can make this game easily last 8 years.
If this is their Fortnite/Rocket League GaaS then I think we'll be seeing all manner of stuff the next 8 years. They can insert a hockey rink during winter or have Battle Mode Royale. It'll be interesting to see what they are planning, but NSO and gamechat will probably be big parts of it.

Would be cool if they release Mario Party World in a year or two and their landmass would be connected to Mario Karts World where you can drive to the Mario Party Boards. And if you’re playing Mario Party World, you could see Mario Kart World players driving around once in awhile. Both games also gets updated for years as the big long lasting Mario World games. Also maybe a connection to whatever big 3D adventure Mario game they’ll do.

So if Mario kart is going to be 80 dollars or 90 euros etc for the physical version how could it justify its price tag? At the moment it ain't doing it for me but:

I have a theory. We only have heard about 3 modes in Mario kart so far: free roam, Grand Prix and knockout tour.

What about battle mode? With 24 cars and a more open world based game. Could they do a 24 player Battle Royale mode? I think a variation on this is almost a sure fire possibility. Obviously not the entire world but a section with a barrier around it. This combined with balloon battle could be fantastic.
I have noticed the more simplistic design of the tracks so far lead themselves to more to driving around in different directions.

I also think they may have to do a single player mode..Nintendo themselves have hinted there is more to the free roam mode so what is it? I'm going to say some form of mission mode. Sort of like the DS version but more expanded. They're certainly not going to have all that empty space outside of the tracks and do nothing with it.

With a direct coming in 9 days. It's gonna need a lot to talk about and this could be it. I don't think a story mode is on the cards.

I still think the game is too expensive lol but I'm interested to see what they have to try and justify it.

What do you think?
The final race is just a 10-hour race through your own mind, and it will solve all of your mental anguish and resolve all your emotional baggage.

at the end you will be given the Nintendo Eshop code for True Freedom, what does that mean, we just don't know and no one really does.

Somehow I don't feel that the price tag is related to some surprise content that we just don't know about yet. It's more likely related to Nintendo just believing that their IP is worth what they're asking for it. The same reason Nintendo first party games rarely go on sale.

The extra 10 bucks for physical is an additional tax for people who want physical media because Nintendo doesn't want to sacrifice margin by eating the additional production and distribution costs of cartridges.

Honestly why does anyone give a shit all these games have ass mechanics and play like shit now. The only thing missing from BOTW is ad banners in the sky for mario kart DLC and other shit like that. Stop rewarding these people you trash ass money infested cowards.

I think you're talking about a game which will probably last at least 8/9 years so I think it will prove good value but the up front cost is a bit of an alert sign.

Assuming you're talking about American dollars, there's no "extra ten bucks" involved. The digital and physical versions of the game are both $79.99USD.

I really think that, in their minds, Gameshare is the feature that justifies the $10 premium. I notice that, so far, it's only their multiplayer Gameshare titles that are actually hitting $80.

And for families they may be right. If you're on a road trip, and you have multiple Switch 2 systems, the kids only need one game cart between them. Of couse, then you need to be able to afford a Switch 2 per kid. Lol. I suppose it will be a pretty killer feature on plane rides or train commutes for adults too.

It just doesn't apply to most of their audience most of the time. Even families would get the same savings by just playing split screen. It's a nice festure, I just don't think it has the sales appeal that Nintendo thinks it does.

You guys do realize the economy is complete trash right? "Oh no why are games going up in price!" IDK the ship crashes, plane crashes, oil crap going on, the reality outside of the game is whats making the price go up. Hello?
