Mario Kart World - Nintendo Direct announced for tomorrow (April 17, 6 AM PT/9 AM ET). It will be 15 minutes long.

Jumping and driving on walls look great. Very interesting track designs.

Not sure about that rewind thing though.

You can see why Nintendo is considered the best game developer ever.

They always think in ways to make the game more fun. Not bigger. More fun.

Other developers seem unable to grasp this way of thinking.

It does look like a worthy follow-up to MK8. Worth the $50 cost in the bundle.

Not worth $80. I also anticipate this game having 7 years of DLC in that open world, But I guess we'll see.

Meh.

I thought they'll treat this as Splatoon, GaaS. But this seems more limited in scope, even tough the world itself looks amazing.

Surprised the 3 lap versions are only in VS mode, I thought they'd probably have a cup option to appease the people who think driving the world isn't as fun.

Man not gonna lie I'm still on the fence with this game. Lots of cool features and things that can be done here but will I actually want to do them is the questions. Maybe Mario Kart isn't my thing anymore. I skipped on MK8D cause I already owned it on WiiU. I think missing out on a Mario Kart during the Switch gen was a bad idea. The chat and face thing are cool but man that game screen sharing feature really needed more time to cook. I just can't get over how laggy it looks.

Well, that was meh. Was hoping to see a meaty single player mode for once, especially since this is the first new MK game in 11 years. The dream was something like a DKR story mode. We'll have to hope the free roam missions get more involved than we saw here, otherwise I don't really know why the open world even exists.

The Direct was a little too much of going over stuff we already knew. It would've really benefitted from an extra five minutes or so. We basically got these revealed:

-A few courses confirmed, including Rainbow Road
-Charge-jump and Rewind abilities
-Return of Battle Mode, Coin Runners, Time Trials and downloading ghosts
-Options for doing traditional 3-lap races, teams, and more
-"Hundreds of missions" in Free Roam, YES. Best announcement of the Direct!

Who is the dude below the "CHARACTERS" header when they're talking about the characters early on? Some Baby Mario costume?

Overall the game looks great but I would've liked to see more new stuff; there almost certainly isn't some major hidden thing at this point. But as long as it's fun and gives me plenty to do I'll be happy.

Also, the music is shaping up to be awesome! Really runs the gamut of Mario history and I especially liked the Super Mario Bros 2 character select and Super Mario 64 Bob-Omb Battlefield themes.

For me starting to reconsider my preorder, not the biggest Mario kart fan, it's ok to play a game now and again, to me this isn't the game I'd buy a system and play none stop for weeks or months, donkey Kong or a better flushed out single player game should have launched with the switch 2, plus people already complaining about the price of this game wait for six months and the paid dlc starts

I have never understood why Nintendo doesn't do the Smash Brothers thing for Mario Kart.

Who doesn't want to drive as Link, Samus or Pikachu?

Would sell way more units for sure. The Mario world is too unfamiliar for majority of people.

Driving through a Metroid world, a Pokemon world etcetc.

Now it's all Mario, Mario, Mario. It's a waste of IP.

You would be a fool to think this game doesn't have planned future support and DLC for at least 2 years.

Though Nintendo did miss a perfect opportunity to announce it and at no additional costs.

Why drive as Samus when you can be Cow?

Small thing but they need to stack all the costumes together on individual characters on the roster. It kind of drives me crazy that each costume has its own slot (seemingly placed randomly too).

The characters bro.

I'll bet you 1 million dollars that the game would sell more if it would be Mario Kart with all or most Nintendo characters driving in levels based on their IP. Instead of only Mario.

It would also encourage people to try the other IP's out. Like Smash does.

I got collectibles and missions in the overworld + battle mode, which are the main things I wanted. The only thing missing for me is boss fights.
