Monkey Joe was that shit, shame.

you know...I always thought penance had an appealing character design (in a try hard, dark way) and would have been a good character if he had been introduced as a new character.

think of him as one of apocalypse's angels.

but the fact he is tied to squirrel girl mucks things up. I did question the purpose of the spikes outside the helmet though.

Which is silly because the uber cosmic guys can't "see" Thanos with their uber senses. That is why Drax was created to hunt Thanos.

Agent X, read it

Agent X was real fun to read. Taskmaster had a tiny comic of his own in between I think. Only 4 issues though.

The new Newsarama interview seemingly confirms it:

http://www.newsarama.com/22326-more...-ready-to-take-down-more-marvel-villains.html

Nrama: In the past we’ve seen Squirrel Girl seemingly punch a bit above her perceived weight class, as well as have some major league team-ups -- Wolverine, Thanos and Deadpool come to mind after Doctor Doom. Will we be seeing some of Marvel’s big characters pop up in this series?

North: Hah! Yep, absolutely. We're starting out with the biggest one, actually. Surprise!

Her ability to take down powerful bad guys is one of the things I love about Squirrel Girl, actually! It's fun to write too: in the past, a lot of her victories have taken place off-panel: you see the bad guy down but you don't know for sure how she did it. I can't do that in this book - too easy! - so a lot of the fun is figuring out ways that having all the powers of a squirrel really would make you this unstoppable force for good.
On-panel beatdowns! :O

And:

North: There's something Squirrel Girl has said in the past that, I think, really gets to the core of who she is. She said, "Maybe it's just me, but I'm not crazy about superhero stories where everything's all dark and moody. Personally, I like the ones where good guys fight giant apes on the moon and stuff. Remember those? I do. That was back when comic book worlds were places you wanted to escape to... not from."

I think that's resonated with a lot of people. Squirrel Girl is basically a Silver Age character in the modern age, and that makes her a fish out of water in a lot of ways. She likes being a superhero. She likes fighting crime. She doesn't sit around brooding in the darkness of her Squirrel Hole trying to figure out new ways to make crime pay. I think that's a lot of what's led to her appeal and her increasing popularity over the past several years: she's fun!

I wanted to write a book about a superhero who was fun.
Know who wrote that bit of dialogue?
Dan Slott.

I am so going to buy the heck out of this book.

That art is so very very awful.

I think this is going to break records in how fast it gets cancelled.

Wouldn't this just end up being boring if you have a hero who can never lose? I mean, I liked some of the stuff GAF people have said about why she's unbeatable, and that could be an interesting story. I don't think this is what they're going for in this series though.

One Punch Man.

The writer has mentioned this, but when Squirrel Girl has beaten impossible foes in the past it's always been off-panel, and part of the fun and challenge of writing this series to him will be figuring out HOW a young woman with squirrel-based abilities pulls off a win against the likes of Dr. Doom, Thanos and the rest. They are also giving her a personal life for pretty much the first time; that is, a life outside of costume, with a "normal" supporting cast (and Tippy-Toe).

Eeeeeh hee hee hee... :D
I think the things that bother me more than anything else are her head and mouth. Her head appears to be almost as wide as her waist? Why? And her teeth being like a squirrel are fine, but why is her mouth drawn like that? It just looks bizarre to me.

Everyone in this thread is complaining about the art , meanwhile I'm actually 10 times more interested in it BECAUSE of the art. I'll take a stylized look like this over the generic look put out by 90% of what's out there any day of the week.

I don't like the art. Its like those webcomics that some women make where the faces are all extremely contorted and drawn weird. I guess to show what women actually look like, i.e. not attractive art pieces, I guess?

But I love squirrel girl, so I will probably read it anyway. But yeah, the art seems to be "trendy", for lack of a better term.

It's ugly-cutesy.

There's something squirrely about the art; I can't nail down whether I like or hate it.

Whatever! Those previews are fantastic, thanks for rounding them up.
